Beautiful Log Cabin Situated On Quiet Smith Lake 3 Miles North Of Hayward, Wi.
Lazy Loon was constructed in 2014. It comfortably sleeps 6. There is a bedroom with Queen size bed, loft with 2 twin beds, and a futon in living area that folds down into full size bed. Beautiful handmade quilts cover beds. Full kitchen consists of beautiful Amish made cabinets from hickory. There is a bathroom complete with shower. Cabin is 75 feet from lake with 100 feet of shoreline. Other homes/cabins surround Smith Lake so site is not secluded. Lake bottom is sandy and water is clear which is perfect for swimming. Pier located on property is perfect for fishing or securing your boat. Great fishing right off the pier for crappy, sunfish, perch, bass, and northern. There is a boat launch close by. Motors are permitted on Smith Lake which allows for great boating, skiing, and inner tubing. There is a fire pit located on the property as well as a small weber grill for your use. Firewood is also on the property for your use. Sunsets can be seen from the dock. Smith Lake is home to loons, eagles, and many other forms of wild life. We are located just 3 miles from Hayward where there is great shopping, dining, and night time entertainment. This is the perfect place for a quiet getaway up north.

Cabin was clean and good location only thing to know is if you have boats on trailer there is not much room to maneuver in driveway takes a little challenge but a great area
Beautiful property with a relaxing atmosphere. So much wildlife that can be enjoyed right from the back porch. We really loved our experience as a family - making s’mores by the campfire and fishing off the dock!
Cabin was exactly as described, and even more charming! All areas were very clean, kitchen was properly stocked, and everything was in working order. Plenty of deer, loons and eagles to watch. The rain gave us plenty of opportunities to play family games and watch movies, all provided by the host. Would highly recommend.
Quiet and peaceful property on Smith Lake. Very clean and appears to be recently built or updated. We very much enjoyed our stay and hope to be back again.
For the third time, Lisa and her Lazy Loon cabin delivered a peaceful and hassle free escape for us, occasional musky hunters. We hooked up and will be back.

So Relaxing!
Beautiful location and perfect cabin! We loved the paddle boat and canoes as well! Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was the proximity to the neighbors and the higher noise level.
3 teenagers enjoyed fishing, swimming, paddle boat and canoe. Close to Hayward

Perfect Get Away
Once again, we had a fabulous stay at the Lazy Loon. Although the weather was a bit cool and rainy, we still managed a remarkable vacation filled with fishing, campfires, and relaxing with a view of the lake. The cabin is beautiful and our family enjoyed every minute of our time there. The perfect northwoods experience.
Totally enjoyed our stay! Very relaxing and so many fun things to do. Enjoyed a slower pace of life as we watched the wildlife on and surrounding the lake. My husband was out fishing on the dock each morning with the sunrise. Beautiful sunsets each evening also!

Lovely Cabin on Smith Lake
We highly recommend renting this cabin. Everything was wonderful. Beautifully maintained property on the water. God's blessings to the owners for sharing their cabin. R&G from Muskego, WI.
The cabin was very clean and efficient for the use by 5 people. The lake was calm and quiet. Usually only one or two boats out at any given time. The water level at the dock was rather low, and the weeds go out quite a ways. It made fishing limited to (very)weedless options from the dock. We enjoyed the canoe and paddle boat and caught enough fish to fry for dinner.

Fabulous Vacation
Another fabulous week of vacation spent at the Lazy Loon cabin. The cabin is pristine and the perfect setting for a quiet and relaxing getaway. The lake is not overly busy and provides excellent fishing. We had marvelous weather and spent a lot of time on the lake. Hayward is so close and has many interesting shops to experience. We're already looking forward to our next stay.
We had a great mini-moon at the Lazy Loon! We brought our side by side and had a blast on the trails near by. We also spent a day golfing at Spider Lake Golf Resort and then at the black iron bar and grill - the steak bites are SO good.
The cabin was clean, comfy, and had everything we needed! Walmart and grocery stores were close by for any last minute items. The hosts were very responsive and accommodating, we would for sure stay here again!
The cabin was very nice and clean with most everything needed for a great stay. Fishing was good even though the wind direction was not in our favor. The lake was quiet and had plenty of wildlife to enjoy seeing. Overall very good experience but would have liked a little sooner notice of items not supplied by the host! Would be good to get this at least a week or month ahead of the stay.

A wonderfully relaxing week on Smith Lake.
The cabin is super cute and fairly new. It had all the required amenities needed for a week in the woods on a lake. Memories of sitting on the front porch watching the sun rise and set over the lake will help me get through the Wisconsin winter. To get really picky, the mattress quality was bit of a challenge, but everything else was absolutely perfect! Thank you for sharing your cabin with our family. ❤️
I have traveled to Hayward for 40 years. My husband grew up there and wanted to stay on Smith Lake. We loved the location, loons and eagles. We did not have cell service and it was difficult to communicate with family arriving for funeral without internet. We also had to borrow towels from family to shower. I must have overlooked that detail when booking.
We had a wonderful time at Lisa's property. Served us well for the kick off of the NICA MTB season. Close to Telemark and Hayward. Accommodations were perfect for our family of 4. Use of the lake with the paddle boat and pier was a nice addition as it was quite warm. We were a little bummed the lake was so weedy tight off shore so swimming off the pier wasn't an option. Once to the middle of the lake, it was lovely. Having use of the firepit was also a plus. Lisa was very responsive and helpful. We would stay again.

About the host
Hosted by Lisa Wanless
My husband and I have always dreamed of owning a cabin in northern Wisconsin. We started the journey to our dream in 2012. After viewing several properties over several months, we picked the property on Smith Lake and fell in love! We located a log home builder close to our home and began the building process. We love our cabin on Smith Lake. We have fallen in love with the Loons on the property thus the name Lazy Loon Cabin.
Why they chose this property
Smith Lake offered everything we wanted in a lake. It's quiet but large enough to boat and participate in all kinds of water sports. It has a family feel and great neighbors.
