The meticulously restored Cottage is a former servants' quarters for this property which has one of the oldest homes in Summerville dating from ca. 1812. The main house and the Cottage have been the focus of over 40 years attention to proper restoration by many fine craftsmen from the historic preservation community of Charleston and the Low Country. The Cottage measures approximately 800 sq' and is approached by its own private paved drive with private parking. Outside the Cottage is a large brick patio surrounded by boxwood, azaleas and camellias and a pleasing water feature. Many magnolia trees and live oaks surround the Cottage which is about 150' behind the main house. The Cottage is completely self-contained with a full kitchen, bath/shower, living room with fireplace as well as a large bedroom with Queen 4 poster bed and sitting area. The living room and bedroom both have high cathedral ceilings. The roof of the Cottage is standing seam tin and makes for magnificent sleep during a rain storm. Guests have been telling us for many years that nothing has been overlooked in the decor or amenities for the Cottage. The kitchen is fully equipped with new stainless appliances and a granite counter top. There is a range, refrigerator/freezer with ice maker, disposal, dishwasher, microwave, toaster, Keurig coffee maker, pots, pans, dishes and utensils. The bath has a tiled tub/shower and pedestal sink. Wide board heart pine floors are throughout. Linens are provided and a washer/dryer is available for guest use at the Cottage.
