The Villa, which can comfortably accommodate 6 people, has 3 bedrooms, one of which is a mezzanine, an open plan kitchen with dining room and lounge, 3 bathrooms and laundry room. The large garden, equipped with a wonderful swimming pool surrounded by rocks and palm trees, (open from early May to late October), is the ideal setting for unforgettable moments of relaxation and fun. You can cook on the outdoor barbecue while enjoying the enchanting setting of the Gulf of Gaeta, then having lunch in the privacy of the garden. The Cottage is ideally located both for excursions to the nearby park of the Aurunci Mountains and for visiting the renowned Riviera d'Ulisse, with its wonderful beaches and the enchanting villages of Gaeta and Sperlonga. Just 1 hour away from Rome and Naples.
The Amalfi coast, Pompeii, Herculaneum and Capri are also easily accessible.

Fantastic villa and host

We had a lovely stay, Diego was very welcoming and helpful throughout our stay, and was very responsive. The villa is set in the beautiful mountains a mile or so outside of Formia with an amazing view of the sea and over to Gaeta.I would recommend asking Diego for a pin location to the property because our car sat nav couldn’t find it!

Perfect Italian holiday

A lovely, lovely house - very comfortable, full of character and charm. The location was absolutely stunning looking over towards the village of Maranola, and the magnificent mountains behind - all to be viewed from a little piece of paradise. Not only was the house and pool an ideal retreat for relaxing but it was a great base for exploring and visiting Pompeii, Rome etc. Diego and his parents were ideal hosts - always attentive to any queries and helpful advise for travelling ....and the home grown tomatoes and figs were delicious. Very many thanks

Lovely property with pool. You need a car as very quiet and peaceful although not far from Formia. The owner was very helpful and helped us book a great day out to Ponza. Very helpful with information re supermarkets and places to eat and get gelato! Rome was about 90 minutes by train. Great service from Formia. There were great beaches about 30 minutes towards Rome but really didn’t need them as the pool was just gorgeous.

We loved the property and its setting. Peaceful with stunning views and very comfortable. The pool was great. Diego was so helpful and we loved Luigi's home grown tomatoes! A fantastic week - could have stayed for another.

Are you sitting comfortably?

We have been travelling to Italy for 25 years and have stayed all over in all kinds of accommodation. This year we booked Casale Poggio degli Ulivi through Vrbo situated near Formia in the Latina region. The house is spacious and first impressions are imposing, set in a semi tropical garden with mountains to the east and the mediterranean to the west. The host, Diego is helpful and genial. He had to meet us on the road as the Vrbo app could not locate the property. However, we would note the following: 1. Although the water quality of the pool is excellent and the size big enough for our party of four, it is not at all child friendly as it is cut into the rock and has no flat area around it. At one end there is a drop from the edge of the pool to the ground of aout 2 mtrs. 2. Despite having a deep veranda on three sides, by early afternoon, the shade had disappeared. 3. There is only space for two sun beds by the pool for a house that sleeps six, and no shade. 4. The only seating provided outdoors is for dining, there are no recliners and so it became uncomfortable to sit and read, and the only way to take an afternoon nap is to retreat indoors, as the locals do. 5. The surrounding area lacks the charm of Tuscany or Le Marche although Formia is near by and has several good restaurants.

Great villa with fantastic amenities.

We really enjoyed our stay in Diego's Villa. Communication with him is brilliant and he was really helpful if you wanted advice or information on visiting local places. The Villa itself is in a peaceful location, and has so many amenities. We had everything we needed for a really enjoyable stay. It is also well placed for visits to places such as Pompeii, Rome and Naples. We would highly recommend staying at this Villa. Thanks Diego and family!

We have had an amazing stay the pool and garden are just heavenly Diego was excellent host nothing was too much trouble he even got us some milk tea and coffee in as we arrived late,the tomatoes his dad brought over were delicious. Beautiful place for a family holiday. Great base for exploring Rome and Lazio region

Diego (and his parents, Luigi and Suzi) were great hosts. Communication was good before, during and after our stay. Customer service was great, too. The property is brilliant for a family of five: spacious and well equipped, with a quirky mezzanine bedroom. The pool is perfect for young kids to splash around in and the more-than-ample outside areas are brilliant for adults to watch on, Prosecco/Nastro Azzuro in hand! The town of Formia has all the amenities you need and the nearer hilltop village of Maranola is beautiful and has a couple of bars overlooking the bay. The location of the villa is amazing, with great views of the hills and the bay, over Formia to Gaeta and beyond. As well as relaxing in and around the villa, it’s easy to be a tourist based here too: there’s easy access to both Rome and Naples by car or train, with Monte Casino also less than an hour’s drive north. My whole family loved this holiday and this villa made it! Thank you Italy, it’s been a blast. We’ll be back!

Fantastic villa in lovely calm location

We had a fantastic stay, a beautiful villa with great pool and so much privacy. The owner was very helpfull and had some good tips for the area. The village of Formia is a 5 minute drive. Napels and Rome are easy to reach but there is much more to discover around the villa. Lovely surroundings and the villa ouzed charm. The loft area has a steep ladder to acces but for older children that is no problem. Would love to go back, would reccomend highly.

Fantastic Villa & Pool in a lovely quiet location

Lovely quiet and very clean villa located above Formia with a fab pool which our two children aged 10 & 13 spent most of the week in. We spent most evenings sampling gelato in the local towns of Formia and Sperlonga. Good location for Pompeii and Vesuvius ( about 2 hours drive.) we would definitely love to stay in the villa again.

Excellent House in a quiet location

A great house in a quiet village up in the hills above Formia. Located within the owner's gated property it offers great privacy. The owners house is close - but you wouldn't know it, except for the basket of fresh vegetables and home made pizza they gave us. The house offers good space with 2 generous double rooms and the mez if required. With outdoor tables and seating on 3 sides you're spoilt for choice. The gardens of the house are lovely and clearly well kept. The pool isn't fenced (so might not be suitable for young children) but is great fun with features from the surrounding rock. Shaded parking a bonus in the heat aswell. Local area offers some great attractions with Gaeta and the national park close by. A walk to the top of Mt Redentore (overlooking the house) is highly recommended.

Superb!

We had a lovely holiday here in the hills above Formia. The house was full of character but with all the modern amenities a family could want, both main bedrooms were en-suite and there was an additional bathroom for the sleeping loft. The house has wi-fi which was a huge bonus. Clean, well stocked for those who want to self cater every day (proper cooker, hob, coffee machine, microwave, BBQ and enough crockery and cultlery to cater for a dozen). It is deceptively spacious, 4 adults and 3 children didn't feel like a crowd and there are lots of lovely outside spaces (3 terraces with dining tables and chairs) which allowed us to enjoy the weather any time of day. The pool is a real highlight, part formed out of the natural rock in the garden and enjoying a lovely view over the hills and village of Maranola. Kids need to be supervised though as it is deep in places. The owners live in an adjacent house but that didnt impact our privacy, the holiday villa is fairly self contained and it is good to know the owner is on hand if ever there was a problem. They were so friendly an welcoming and have lived and worked in the region for years so are full of tips and advice on where to go and where to eat. We were able to sample home grown tomatoes and cucumber, and home made marmalade which were all amazing. Security isnt an issue, the site is fenced with remote control gates and isnt overlooked. Maranola (where the villa is) is a lovely little medieval village with stunning views over the gulf of gaeta and the route up the the christ the redeemer statue on the mountainside above (not for the faint hearted, single car track and then walking). A great base for beaches (the stretch between Gaeta and Sperlonga is best) and an easy drive to Gaeta (go to the broken mountain), Formia (Roman Cisterns) Minturna (roman ruins), Monte Cassino, (the abbey) Pompei, the Pastena Caves, Naples and beyond, all of which we took in on our trip. A car is a must have but with it there is plenty enough to fill two weeks. Highly recommend this villa. In this region of Italy we did find it quite hard to get information about tourist sites (opening times, locations) because it just doesnt seem to be visited by many international touristis which is a shame. Make sure you prepare your days out and know exactly where you are going because the road signs wont be much help! All in all a great trip, lovely villa, great owners which has left us with many wonderful memories.

The perfect Italian vacation location

Das Haus liegt im Hinterland mit Blick auf die Berge, den wir jeden Tag im wunderschönen Pool genossen haben. Der Pool ist wirklich ganz besonders mit seinen verschiedenen Tiefen, dem Wasserfall. Auch das Haus hat Charme, draußen kann man gemütlich an vielen Stellen sitzen. Diego und sein Vater waren immer ansprechbar. Danke für die frischen Tomaten und den Basilikum!

Wonderful oasis

We had a wonderful stay at Diego’s vacation home. The house is set in a beautiful well kept garden. The interior of the house is furnished and decorated very tastefully in a Mediterranean country style. His parents were so nice to give us fresh salad and tomatoes from their garden. Such a sweet gesture. Diego provides a list of recommended restaurants and shops which we wouldn’t have found otherwise and really enjoyed. There are some older cats on the property which are also very sweet and we enjoyed their company on the terrace. Overall we would stay there again. It was great.

Schön gelegene und sehr saubere Unterkunft.

Die Ankunft verlief gut und der Vermieter ist ein äußerst netter und hilfsbereiter Gastgeber. Der Aufenthalt war wirklich schön und die Unterkunft empfiehlt sich sehr für Familien. Die Terrassen bieten auch Abends einen schönen Ort mit guter Aussicht zum Verweilen.

Schöne Unterkunft mit allen was man braucht

Wir hatten schöne entspannte Tage im Haus von Diego. Es ist mit allen ausgestattet und der Pool lädt zum Verweilen ein. Check-in und Check-out waren reibungslos.die Umgebung ist ruhig und die Betten waren sehr bequem. Wir haben es sehr genossen.
