Once in Montalcino, turn around a roundabout depicting the God of Bacchus and head for Castelnuovo dell'Abate.
We arrive at Borghetto, a small medieval hamlet that has its features intact: tiny cobbled streets like once, the bishop's palace, the Romanesque church, the small square.
A thousand meters from the village, in the valley of the river Star of the imposing Abbey of Sant'Antimo, one of the masterpieces of Romanesque excellence in Tuscany.
We are in the central area to visit the Natural Park of Valdorcia with its spas, breathtaking landscapes and good Tuscan cuisine!
To satisfy your requests, the Borghetto guesthouse offers you the "ALICE HOUSE" just restored with eco-friendly materials and heated with clean energy.

First Trip to Italy

Quaint apartment, with enough amenities for a great six day stay! The parking is a little tough, but the location and views are fabulous. The pellet stove needs to have directions for the renter when it is cooler weather. I would definitely say again. Francesco was great and helped me with a lot of questions!:)

lovely apartment

The apartment was in a quaint older area in the middle of the beautiful rolling hills of Tuscany. It is off the beaten path with just a few restaurants, but we loved being in a quiet area. The views were amazing! We had a bit of a time locating the apartment, but the staff was available and super helpful.

Great Spot!

Loved our stay at House of Alice. It’s very centrally located in Tuscany. Francesco was wonderful and took care of reservations and recommendations for us. The village itself is very small. The house was clean and well appointed. Small recommendations are; it could have used more efficient seating in the living room, a few more kitchen items, larger coffee maker etc. Also the bathrooms could use hooks and a shelf. Overall a wonderful and charming place! I would highly recommend!

Nice Stay Away from the Crowds!

This place was so pretty and away from the touristy areas. We were able to see San Giamigano (sp?). Siena, Montepulciano, Montalcino was very close by. This place is in the middle of the prettiest part of Tuscany!! The place was very nice but could use some racks or hooks for your towels and a place to put your shampoo etc. by the shower. 😁

Relaxing and quaint

Wonderful hamlet that is located outside Montalcino. Car is needed but parking near property and property was spacious for family of four.

Lovely Tuscany apartment!

This apartment is a gem. Lovely, cozy, and well-appointed. Beautiful view of the Tuscan countryside from one of the bedrooms! Check-in was seamless and the owner was very responsive. Be aware that Castelnuovo dell’Abate is a small village with one small grocery store and restaurant; for more options you will need to drive to Montalcino (9 km away). This apartment was an excellent home base for exploring the area. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

SCAM - DO NOT BOOK

THIS A SCAM! Do not book! We booked a 1-night stay for February 26, 2024. The booking was paid in full on February 9th, at the owner's request. Final payment was not due until 2/19. On the date of arrival, the owner would not answer our calls or VRBO's repeated calls to get a code to get into the rental. We were stuck with nowhere to go but drive to back to Rome. Thank God for Doubletree Suites who took us in and upgraded our room because they felt so bad for us. Shame on this owner!

House of Alice was amazing. The beautiful village of Castelnuovo Del’Abate was like a fairy tale. Perfectly situated for day trips all over Tuscany. The house itself was beautiful, and met every expectation.

Amazing Stay and Comfortable Beds with a view

The hilltop apartment was magnificent. It has been beautifully remodeled, clean, uniquely decorated and comfortable beds. The master bedroom has a window that opens up to a 180 degree view of Tuscany, while lying in bed that's what you wake up to! Francesco was a fantastic host. The property has a few more units that, I'm sure, just as beautiful

Dream Vacation

This bungalow is even more charming than the pictures. It was absolutely perfect for our first visit to Tuscany. Everything about the village was exactly as described and exceeded expectations. Francesco consistently went above and beyond from the time of booking to the end of our stay. I highly recommend renting E-bikes while you stay in the area, ride the countryside and visit the wineries. It is a magical experience. Visit the abbey - it is stunning. Follow Francesco's advice on what to see and do in the area. There is also a lot to experience in the nearby Montalcino. We cannot wait to return to the House of Alice!

Tuscany

We spent 13 days in the House of Alice. The pictures were completely accurate as shown on VRBO and our hosts were great. Very attentive and helpful with questions and requests. The stay was very comfortable for both couples. The location was perfect for day trips around Tuscany. We would highly recommend The House of Alice. Thank you again, to our wonderful hosts!

Lovely little town. Cosy apartment, perfect for 2. Once you find the parking it’s convenient. Very clean and comfortable. AC was a plus.

Stunning & Magical Apartment in Montalcino

During our two weeks traveling Italy, The House of Alice was our most treasured stay. The medieval apartments have been tastefully renovated in the beautiful style of the region, and the views are absolutely stunning. The apartments are comfortable, cozy, and airy, the family who runs the place were so lovely, and we were sad to leave. Heartily recommend; The House of Alice will not disappoint!

Italian vacation

This rental property was fantastic. The property manager was such a gracious host. Visiting Castellunovo dell’abate, Montalcino, and, Montepulciano were the most favorite part of my trip to Italy. I will definitely come back.

Lovely Christmas visit

My husband and I stayed at House of Alice for Christmas week. Check in was easy and Francesco was very helpful with restaurant recommendations and other advice. He even sent us a message wishing us Merry Christmas. The apartment is lovely, with great views and the town is absolutely charming. It is centrally located for visiting a lot of areas within Tuscany, so we used it as a base for day trips. The beds were comfortable, the pellet stove kept the unit very warm. The kitchen was sufficiently stocked although a microwave would be helpful. As others have commented, the seating in the living area is very limited. The grocery store in town had what we needed in terms of basics and there is a little shop that has wine and homemade desserts and cappuccino. We also appreciated the wine stocked in the apartment for purchase (olive oil as well). We loved our stay and would happily return!

This property was great. The location and views were spectacular. We loved it. It's only downside was a lack of seating in the living space. Bedrooms and bathrooms were wonderful.
