Visiting for the weekend.

The cottage was perfect for our needs and made exploring Inverness a breeze as it was an easy 10-15 min walk into the city along the river. The stroll down to Ness Islands was a delight and we enjoyed the hospitality at the Waterfront gastropub which was a couple of minutes from the cottage. There was a local supermarket around the corner which made getting groceries easy (we were without a car on this occasion) Gregor was super helpful and communicative and we really appreciated the welcome provisions. We had the pleasure of meeting Gregor on our departure and he was very pleasant and full of local information. He also offers bespoke tours which we hope to experience on a future longer visit. A lovely stay the whole family enjoyed.

Highland Tour

This property is within walking distance of downtown Inverness it is close to stores and restaurants. Gregor is a tour guide and is very familiar with the Highlands. We went on several private tours with him and never saw a tour bus at the locations he took us.

Perfect

Amazing communication before our say. Accurate and prompt replies. Property is perfectly located, near to all amenities and a beautiful area to explore a little further. Gregor provided lots of little extras which was greatly appreciated. Clean and very well equipped property. Only one slight downside is the bathroom, no bath and needs updating but not enough to knock any stars off! We will return

Great location

We had an excellent stay. From the moment we booked our stay, the communication from the owner was excellent. He replied quickly to any questions and even offered some great tips for places to go while we were up. The accommodation was in an ideal location with plenty of permit only parking (permits were provided by the owner). We were within easy walking distance of the centre of Inverness but it was also quick to get to and from the house by car because it didn’t require going through the centre. We received a warm greeting from the owner, Gregor, and it was a nice surprise to find some basics had been provided. The Waterfront Pub was great for food and drink for all the family and it was only a 2 minute walk round the corner.

RIVERSIDE COTTAGE

We had a great 4 night stay at the very cosy and homely Riverside Cottage. It was in a prime location, with city centre only a few minutes walk along the river and plenty of places to eat out. Gregor was a fine host and made sure that our stay went smoothly and had some good suggestions of places to visit and some funny tales to tell. We look forward to returning to Inverness.

Beautiful home from home

This house was a home from home and an absolute pleasure to spend the start of our holiday in. It is light, airy and much larger inside than the outside appearance suggests. Downstairs there is a very spacious and comfortable living room with a supply of fuel for the burner and, at the rear, one of the double bedrooms and a sunroom with dining table. For those who like to cook, the kitchen is high quality and, unlike many holiday places, equipped for some proper cooking with a good gas hob, proper pans and pots, lots of equipment and a lot of oils, vinegars, spices and other ingredients. Gregor kindly added to to these and left us some groceries and a bottle of wine. Upstairs the bedrooms are bright and the master bedroom is very large. Outside is a well tended, peaceful and also quite private garden with a dining set and a BBQ. The location is perfect, simply walking to the end of the street brings you to the outer edges of the town centre and for evening strolls there is immediately a view of the bridges and the castle lit up on the hill. Gregor himself is an extremely kind host and falls over himself to be helpful. After showing us the house and giving us lots of advice about getting the most from our holiday, he was based nearby and available if needed. We can't recommend a stay with Gregor enough.

Super cottage in a great location

We stayed a week beginning July 21, 2 couples with 2 dogs. The cottage was fantastic for us, plenty of space in the living room with large TV, and bedrooms were a great size. Full of all the necessary facilities. Good garden space too for the dogs and stretching legs. In a great location to walk into Inverness center or jump in the car and explore the wonderful areas and sites around Inverness and beyond. The owner, Gregor, was great to communicate with and made the process easy. He met us on arrival and gave us some good ideas to add to our ‘to see’ list. Highly recommend staying here.!

Perfect base

Gregor was great with all the arrangements. The house was very easy to find, parking was virtually at the door (permit provided) and the house was spacious for the four of us plus our dog. Very good heating, comfy living room and excellent smart TV. The sunroom was chilly but the heater really helped. The enclosed garden was great for sitting out in the sun. Could not have been more convenient for the town centre and Aldi. Would highly recommend.

Great location

The home was central and walking distance to all of the sites we wanted to see in the city and under 30 minutes from anything we wanted to see outside the city. Beds were comfortable and kitchen had everything we needed to cook our meals. Host was friendly and available for directions and must see places.

Working Away From Home

When you are working away from home, home comforts and your local surroundings are very important. This property had it all, it was clean and comfortable and had everything you needed. The local area was great too...just a short walk from shops and places to eat. Would highly recommend!

Great host, great location!

A perfect place to stay for 4-6 people. Everything in Inverness within walking distance. Gregor is a great host and gave wonderful advice on spots to visit during our onward journey. An extra plus for the fresh flowers in the window and the bottle of Proseco in the fridge.

Lovely Cottage. Great host

Cottage is in a great location and is really well kitted out, with a nice garden and a great wood burner, but what raised the cottage up to 5 stars was the host, Gregor, great local knowledge & couldn’t have been more helpfull. We loved it

About the host

Hosted by Gregor

Host profile image
My name is Gregor and grew up in the area before moving to Edinburgh and beyond for study and work. I returned to the area in 2010 after tiring of city life. I normally work in health and safety or lifting operations but have previously worked in finance, education among others.

Why they chose this property

I love this house because I have transformed it over the last couple of years, which has been a lot of work but also a labour of love. I love its country feel, its country style kitchen looking out onto the mature garden, the living room with its wood burner for relaxing in front of the fire whilst watching movies or simply enjoying a good book and glass of wine. I may be biased and undoubtedly it has been decorated to my tastes, but it has been decorated with comfort in mind, from the sofa, to the beds, to the fire, to the views from the kitchen window to the garden. Even the walk into town is beautiful along the River Ness over the bridge past the Cathedral to the town centre all in under 5 mins.

I love the garden and the birds which are attracted into it.

You can also access the main arterial road routes from here and be outside Inverness on route into the Highlands in under 5 mins. The banks of Loch Ness can be reached in 10 mins by car, the Spa town of Strathpeffer in 20 mins or some of the UK's best golf courses in 30 mins. Some of the Championship courses designed by Tom Morris and James Braid include Royal Dornoch, Brora, Tain, Castle Stuart, Nairn, Nairn Dunbar and Moray - not a bad collection of courses within easy reach for the golfer.

Similarly many of the famous tourist attractions are within easy drive with the Caledonian Canal a mere 5 minute walk away as are most bars and restaurants.

What makes this property unique

The Cottage is beautiful with an enclosed back garden for your pets and for relaxing, BBQing and enjoying the wildlife. E mountain bike and road bike hire with personal driver to drop off, pick and guide routes on request or use for tours in 9 seater vehicle for epic day trips to see the Harry Potter Train going over Glenfinnan viaduct before being taken to Fort William to catch train to do the actual journey to Mallaig (an epic day out). Perfect for larger groups with two cottages next door.
