Sheila's Downtown Condo on Madeline Island



Walk to absolutely everything! Golf course, marina, ferry, galleries, restaurants, grocery, live music, bike, moped and kayak rentals, museum, beaches, and hiking trails. Charter a sunset sail.

The condo is only 1.5 blocks from the Ferry Landing and only 1/2 block from Lake Superior which can be seen from the large picture window in the living room. Being so close to the ferry landing means you don't have to bring your car over if you don't need to! You are surrounded by shops, galleries and restaurants allowing you to walk everywhere at your leisure! There is a bakery plus a coffee shop right below so you can meander down each day for a fresh pastry or sandwich to order.

The Madeline Island Chamber of Commerce offers a wealth of information from ferry schedules to weekly events, things to do, business listings, and info on the Town Park and the State Park. The Chamber has daily updates of which businesses are open/closed/hours. PLEASE CONTACT ALL BUSINESSES PRIOR TO YOUR ARRIVAL to make sure they can accommodate the activities that are of interest to you.

All your bed linens, fluffy bath towels and beach towels are included along with cooking utensils, dishes, glassware, toaster, slow cooker, blender, and baking pans. Kitchen items such as coffee filters, basic spices, and products such as toilet paper, paper towels, dish soap, and waste bags are provided. Just bring your suitcase and favorite toiletries! The AMENITIES section directly below gives detailed information about the condo.

BOOKING PROCEDURES: Please check the CALENDAR FOR AVAILABILITY. My listed rate includes local taxes, credit card service fees, and cleaning fees. Your 50% deposit secures your reservation. You will receive email notices of your payments and will receive a reminder email for your final payment about 3 weeks before your check-in date. Your balance is due prior to your arrival. Once I have received the balance I will email your Confirmation Letter that includes the address, directions from the ferry landing and the Keyless Door Code, along with parking information, some general information and the web link for the ferry schedule. KEEP IN MIND THAT ALL CORRESPONDENCE COMES FROM HOME AWAY. CHECK YOUR 'JUNK MAIL' FOR EMAILS that might get sent there.

Lovely location

We enjoyed staying here! Was walkable to all the downtown shops, food, beach, and town gathering places. The museum was excellent. We drove to the state park for a beach day, otherwise car not needed. We enjoyed the Apostle Island boat tour, which is on the Bayfield side. Ferry was convenient and only left early once- rest was very prompt to schedule. The condo was cute and had everything we needed. Comfortable for our family. We would stay again for a relaxing simple island vacation.

Lovely Time in La Pointe

We have stayed at Sheila’s condo several times over quite a few years and love it. It is right in town and across from Tom’s Burned Down Cafe. You’ll always feel like you’re in the action yet secluded beaches and forests are just minutes away.

Girls weekend!

We had a wonderful weekend on Madeline Island, and in Bayfield. I have stayed at this property before. The condo is clean, comfortable, and a very convenient location to bars, restaurants, and the ferry. I have stayed in this property before and I appreciate having such a great place to stay.

Everything was fine except for the weather. It was cold and rained all but one day. That day was beautiful. In retrospect we booked our stay too early we should have waited until after Labor Day.

Nice place

Overall rating was very good. It fit our needs nicely! Perfect location. Clean, quaint and neat. Bed was comfortable. Living room sofa and futon…not so much. Business entry door below unit was a bit irritating in the early morning squeaking and slamming. Owner responsive and accommodating. Price was very reasonable.

Nice condo in central location

The condo was exceptionally clean with all the amenities that a person would want. If you want to be in the "thick of things" the location is excellent. Even though the condo is downtown, it was nice and quiet. We arrived on a VERY HOT day and were very pleased that the air conditioner and fans were going upon our arrival.

Annual Madeline trip

I booked this condo for my parents who are in their 60's. It was their 1st time on the island. They loved the condo, and its location. Its right by everything! It was very clean and they got to hear live music from the deck.

Very nice

We had a very comfortable stay. Sheila provided all the comforts of home. The kitchen felt like home with everything she provided, dishes, pots and pans, paper towels, dish soap, microwave. The refrigerator was nice and everything was clean. It felt like home. We felt safe in the unit, we didn’t worry about leaving valuables while we went to the beach. We had our own key code to access the unit. It’s close to the beach in town and all the nice places to eat like grandpa Tony’s and the beach club. We enjoyed walking all over town from our unit. She provided a 32 inch flatscreen TV with a DVR and there are also movies provided to use if used so should wish. There’s satellite TV so we were able to access local channels and weather reports which we found very helpful. We would recommend that she includes room darkening shades, as the room was pretty bright in the morning sun. If you’re an early riser, that shouldn’t bother you. You may want to bring your own extra towels if you have more than two guests staying there, your own bath soap, And a box of tissues. We enjoyed our stay at Sheila‘s and we would definitely consider staying there when we return to Madeline Island.

Everything was lovely .Quiet,great location. There was a white adults clothing ,top and bottom left on the bedroom floor. We put them in the dirty laundry bag with bedding in bedroom closets. They are not ours.

Overall a Nice Place to Stay

Overall a nice place to stay. Noisy, but to be expected given the location and price. The place was nice and very clean....certainly plenty good for my expectation. My only complaint, other than fairly noisy, is that the bathroom is very cramped and toilet needs an updating as it's so short. I'm 6' 1" and 220# and found it too small. If you're shorter/smaller, you'll probably be ok. Very handy access to ferry! Nice overall, I'd go back again if necessary.

Just Right

Just right for our extended stay in La Pointe. Had many other friends and family staying on the Island that week. From Sheilas Condo we could see the comings and goings of our traveling bunch. Everything you might need is at the condo. This was our second year staying there, we will be back again next year.

Comfy Condo in central LaPointe

Perfect for two on an island visit. Very clean and orderly, well appointed. Easy keyed access, parking spot provided. Communication prompt and responsive. Will definitely stay here again on our visits to Madeline Island.

In the heart of La Point

Everything was great. Property was just what we wanted. Only issue was that the bed mattress was the most uncomfortable I’ve ever slept on. I would book at this location again only if I knew they upgraded to a pillow top or memory foam mattress.

Great location in the heart of downtown La Point

Perfect location for food, entertainment, moped/bike rental, late night cocktails, groceries, and beautiful Lake Superior. The apartment is a bit outdated but has all the amenities you'll need. Everything is within walking distance including a coffee shop and the ferry landing.
