Our family of 5 truly enjoyed our stay. Surrounded by beautiful vineyards & views, easy access to the amazing towns of St. Émilion, Libourne and the ability to do day trips to other parts of Bordeaux. Philippe was so generous with his recommendations (the Dune du Pilat was amazing, as was our lunch at Caffe Cuisine in nearby Branne) and we enjoyed the bottle of wine he set aside for us to enjoy during our stay.
Thank you, Philippe, for a very special stay.
Philippe is the best! And the house was adorable and beautifully updated
This cute three bedroom two bath homes is complete with a fully supplied modern kitchen. The living room is large the dining table seats 6...as does another outside table on the deck. There is a large above ground pool, complete with rafts. The beds are comfortable. Sheets and towels are supplied. There is no AC but Philippe kindly supplied us with small fans. He was the best host. He allowed us flexibility with arrival time and greeted us the following morning. He not only runs the vineyard on which the house sits but he also is athletic in his free time. We enjoyed the delicious red wine that he gave us and may even order some to be shipped to us. I love the proximity to Saint Emilion where we often dined but Philippe also mentioned other places close by. If back in the region, we hope to stay here then. Highly recommended
Spent two weeks at Philippe's wonderful property together with my family and my parents. Well equipped house with everything you need for a pleasant stay.
The layout of the property was ideal for us - my parents took the double room and bathroom on the ground floor leaving the upstairs bedrooms and bathroom for us. Although we only have one daughter, the kids room is very large and with 4 single beds ideal for a larger family. We stayed during a hot spell so the pool was very welcome!
The house is located in Philippe's vineyard and is quite remote, so very quiet, but the local village Branne has some smaller shops for daily essentials, and there are large hyper marches in Libourne (Carrefour, 20 minutes) or Saint Magne de Castillon (E Leclerc, 15 minutes) for everything else. Saint Emilion is also less than 15 minutes away, and worth a visit, as are many of the vineyards in the neighbourhood. Bordeaux itself is reachable in less than an hour and the Cite du Vin museum is a good experience for adults and children alike.
Philippe was the ideal host and answered all of our questions, dropping by occasionally (he works at the vineyard, but his presence isn't noticeable). He gave us an interesting tour of his winemaking facilities, and his wine is definitely worth a try!
We stayed at this lovely home for 2 months (June/July 2019). Photos are very accurate. The home is spacious and comfortable. The pool was a delight especially on the warm summer days. The location is perfect to use for exploring the Bordeaux region, particularly with Saint-Emilion a few minutes drive from the home. You will definitely need a car as it is at least 35 minutes walking to the nearest small village for bakery, shops, restaurants. You can easily hike through the vineyards and we did this many times.
Philippe is a kind owner who welcomed us and our small yorkie dog. He's a winemaker producing small batches of Grand Cru. He showed us his production facilities on site in the building next door which are quite impressive. Philippe kindly took care of our requests (e.g. for the use of fans when the temperature spiked to over 100 degrees). He would always respond to us, but it could take a few hours to sometime up to a full day depending upon his schedule.
The home is set amongst the vineyards of a working winery so in the evenings it is private and serene. During the day, it is an operating farm so depending upon the farm needs there could be workers on site in the vineyards, tending to the vines by hand or with the various tractors and other farm equipment.
We did experience a couple of minor issues, as would be expected for such a long stay:
-- The WIFI is not so reliable in the countryside, particularly if any sort of poor weather occurs. Usually within a few hours it would be restored.
-- The home really needed a better cleaning prior to our arrival, as we had to clean for a couple of hours the first day to dust surfaces, remove a lot of cobwebs, and prepare the beds (linens provided but none of the beds were made up).
Overall, it was a great stay and we recommend this lovely place.

Beautiful villa in the middle of the vineyards; very close to Saint Emilion
Philippe's villa exceeded our expectations. It was extremely well located, close to Saint Emilion (20mn bike ride) but still very private and secluded. The property itself was in a beautiful setting right in the middle of the vineyards, with a huge terrace ideal for big meals on the outdoor table. Inside, the home had everything we needed for an enjoyable stay - 3 large rooms, 2 bathrooms, and a fully equipped kitchen.

Lovely house, fantastic stay
Thank you for the great hospitality, Philippe, our family enjoyed the stay throughout!
Philippe met us and showed us around the house, and welcomed us with a bottle of his grand cru.
The house is near St. Emilion, and very accessible to the nearest supermarket at Branne and Bordeaux. We wake up to the view of the vineyard of Chateau D'Arcole. The surroundings were quiet and serene.
The house has a very well equipped kitchen. It also has a Chateau D'Arcole chopping board, which we were given as a parting gift!
The kids love their PS2. The layout of the rooms is very good, where my parents stayed on the ground floor and our kids and us occupy the second floor.
Thank you for the great hospitality and wine! We bring back great memories of the visit, the wine and of course, we brought back a grand cru to enjoy. We will be back!

Superb Location and Cottage
Philippe was an excellent host, very attentive to our needs. He provided an informative tour of the winery and its associated history. The location is excellent, with stunning views of the surrounding vineyards and St. Emilion, only a few kilometers away. The land is flat and ideal for jogging/walking on the scenic and seldomly used roads that wind through the vineyards.
The historical lodgings are attractive, spacious and well equipped, having been recently, completely, skillfully and very tastefully renovated with a large modern kitchen including a table that can easily sit 8 people, a spacious and comfortable living room and bedroom on the main floor with separate shower/sink (including laundry facilities) and toilet rooms. The second floor has two bedrooms, one which is very large and well equipped to accommodate and entertain children and another spacious bedroom, toilet room and separate master shower/sink.
The deck is large (at least 1,200 square feet) and also well equipped including dining table and above ground pool for dipping.
The property is well located with local access to St. Emilion (a UNESCO site but very touristy), the small town of Branne with several very good restaurants and grocery and fresh fish stores. Not far away is the larger town of Libourne with excellent restaurants and larger stores. Nearby Créon also has an excellent street market and bicycle path (as well as rental) that leads to Bordeaux to the west and a more rural setting to the east. We bicycled east on the bike path and had an excellent day, with superb scenery (shaded by the bordering trees/shrubbery on a hot, sunny day, and a superb lunch in a local restaurant in one of the towns near the path).
Nearby to the west, is Bordeau and the coast with beautiful sandy beaches and to the east, more hilly terrain, with sites like the town built on a cliff (Rocamadour) and the close by Gouffre de Padirac, an amazing underground cave that goes on for miles with a waterway navigable in a gondola like boat.
We truly enjoyed our sejour here and highly recommend it, for the hospitality, wine (the Chateau Arcole Grand Cru is excellent), lodgings and surrounding countryside.
This was our second stay with Philippe and it was just as great as our first visit. The house was perfect again and we spent every afternoon in the pool! Would throughly recommend Philippe’s lovely property!
We had a wonderful family time. A rental car is essential as the location is a little remote but it’s just 10 minute drive to local villages for shops etc. ST Emilion is close and what a special place that is (and also expensive!). The house is an excellent standard and it was easy to switch off and enjoy life in the vineyards. Kids loved the pool and bedrooms and parents enjoyed the large space and wine.
We expect to return in the future. Highly recommended.

We would definitely return!
Had a fabulous 10 days at Chateau D'Arcole. The house is wonderful, comfortable & modern with all the amenities you could need during your holiday. The location is peaceful with no-one overlooking you but you are just a short drive from St Emillion (& the train station). We ate out most nights - there is an excellent restaurant in Branne; the kids enjoyed cycling and the bikes were delivered to the Gite; they loved the pool & also went swimming at the Lake in Libourne.
I could not recommend this this property highly enough. We returned home so very relaxed, it was just the holiday we needed and a the Chateau D'Arcole Grand Cru helped.
Thank you Philippe for a wonderful holiday
