Planning a large group gathering? Then this is the place for you!!

Sturgeon Landing is a small, private resort on the very popular Sturgeon River chain of lakes that specifically caters to family reunions, multi-family vacations, and all other large groups (ie. scrapbooking, book club, corporate retreat, etc.). This beautiful property boasts four separate cabins, a large and newly remodeled lodge and screen house, full laundry facilities, and a fitness room - all air conditioned and all yours! We do not rent individual cabins. RENTAL PERIOD IS FRIDAY - THURSDAY.

Located just 20 miles north of Hibbing, Minnesota, this incredible property provides our visitors with the entire resort property and complete water access to all five lakes on the chain and just a ¼ mile away from McCarthy State Beach, one of the best public beaches in the state! Whether you come for swimming, fishing, water skiing, tubing, hiking and ATV trails, the scenery, or prefer just sitting in a chair and reading a book, you will not be disappointed. Deep water landing located right next door for those guests that want to bring their own boats/pontoons - dock space included with every rental. Don't have a boat? Sturgeon Landing has a pontoon boat that is available to be rented for any portion of your stay. We also offer a sunset tour (with beer and snacks) of the lakes for up to 10 guests on our 26ft pontoon. If interested in either inquire with Matt!

12 passenger pontoon rental ($275 a day or $1375 a week)

Sunset cruise of lakes (beer/wine and snacks provided) ($250 for up to 10 guests)(weight restrictions apply)

We also have four adult kayaks, two youth kayaks, two paddleboards, a pedal boat, a small electric fishing boat, and life jackets that are available for our guests at no charge. When you are not out on the water, light a fire in the fire pit and enjoy a game of sand volleyball, horseshoes, badminton, croquet, bags, or bocce ball right on the water’s edge. All firewood is dry and free! Small beach area and jungle gym on property for small kids to play. Our entire property does have WIFI for a small weekly charge. Inquire with Matt if you would like your group to have access.

Cabin #1 - One bedroom cabin with a queen bed in bedroom and a queen pull-out couch in living room. Sleeps max 4. Smaller fire pit located at this cabin.

Cabin #2 - Two bedroom cabin with a queen bed in bedroom 1 and full-over-full bunks and another queen bed in bedroom 2. Sleeps max 8. Larger fire pit located between this cabin and the Villas.

Villa #1 - Two bedroom villa with a queen bed in bedroom 1 and full-over-full bunks in bedroom 2. Also has a full sized futon in living room. Sleeps max 8. Gas grills on patios of both villas.

Villa #2 - Two bedroom villa with a queen bed in bedroom 1 and full-over-full bunks in bedroom 2. Also has a full sized futon in living room. Sleeps max 8. Gas grills on patios of both villas.

All cabins and villas have air conditioning, full kitchens, bathrooms with showers/tubs, private bedrooms, TV's w/ Dish Network and DVD players, all necessary kitchen utensils, bath towels and linens, and much more.

Our Lodge and screen house offer fantastic spaces to eat, drink, play games, watch movies, and just have fun as a large group. The lodge offers another full kitchen and island, bathroom, laundry facilities, fitness room, large dining room table that seats 12, four high-top pub tables, pool table, foosball table, ping-pong table, Dish Network with movie channels, DVD selection, board games, playing cards, large gas grill and much more. Property is located just minutes from several very popular restaurants/bars with delicious food, beverages, and entertainment.

Family Vaca 2024

Property is beautiful. Very nice lodging. Grounds are well groomed. The lodge and huge screen porch are so nice for family gathering and fun. We are a group of 20 and several small dogs and we all loved it. We had a great time even on the rainy days. Rent the pontoon from Matt. Going on the lake was a highlight for sure.

Family Reunion

Matt's place is the perfect place to host a reunion. We enjoyed it all! The kitchen and gathering rooms were amazing to hang out together. The vast grounds allowed the little kids room to play. The lake was awesome for kayaks and fishing. We will definitely be back.

We had a great time. Cabin was clean and had everything, even A/C. Very convenient if you have a boat. Landing next door and a dock to leave it during the stay. My family loved the area and McCarthy Beach was awesome. We will be back!

Sturgeon Landing is a great place to stay

We had a group of 16 people with ages ranging from 21 months to 89 years young! They supply almost anything you can think of. A great location and property. We had a fabulous time and will be coming back. Everyone had enough space to roam around freely, sit at the lakeshore, play games, swim and fish. Highly recommend.

Great weekend getaway!

Stayed here over the weekend with 3 of my girlfriends and it was perfect! The owner and his wife were staying in the cabin next to ours one of the nights and were very helpful and accommodating with all of our requests. Matt even helped us find somewhere to rent a pontoon when his was booked. Great for chill bonfires or partying on the lake. Highly recommend and you can bring your let! Don't forget your bug spray though :D

Side Lake Rental

Side Lake property checked many of the boxes that our family looks for in a vacation rental. We enjoyed all of the spaces. The cabins were roomy enough for all our families and came with many of the things that you would need. The kitchen and game area was a great asset to hang out in as a whole group. Being so close to McCarthy Beach was a lot of fun. We enjoyed some of the many UTV trails in the area. we were able to catch fish in the area lakes. Look forward to next year!!!

Fabulous

My brother rented this place for my mom, siblings and their families! We traveled all the way from Alaska for this and it did not disappoint! Wow! Where do I begin! So much fun and such a relaxing place to be! Matt and Cj are excellent hosts! The cabins and lodge are amazing:-) very clean. There is laundry on site for those who like to wash clothes while on vacation! We had so much fun on the pontoon and then going over to the beach to swim! The kids had a great time fishing from the dock also. Our nightly gatherings around the fire pit did not disappoint. The younger kids also had a playground, older kids played volleyball ect. I could go on and on. The lodge is great to get together to eat, play pool, ping pong, goose ball, or board games. Such an amazing place for large gatherings. Thank you so much Matt and Cj!

Adult Summer Camp

When we decided to vacation with our blended family of 17, this place became available and we quickly booked it. 4 cabins with 7 different bedrooms gave everyone a little privacy, while the lodge made it possible for us to gather together for meals and games. Matt and CJ were awsome hosts. Take the sunset cruise with them - we had a blast and they were generous with their time. The food CJ made for our sunset cruise was wonderful! The little ones enjoyed the small beach area. The adults enjoyed fishing off the dock and the kayaks and paddleboards. We were able to have a campfire every night with as much firewood as we wanted. The lodge kitchen was well stocked with anything we needed. Each cabin has a fairly well-stocked kitchen as well. Furinshings are comfortable enough. We could have found fun things to do onsite without every leaving the property. The beach at McCarthy Beach State Park, just 1/2 mile from the resort, is a great place to spend a warm day. Thanks for an awesome time, Matt and CJ!

Good fishing, Nice Cabins

We had a great time. Fishing was excellent. The lakes were beautiful. The Bear Den was wonderful. Lots to do even if you don't fish. I highly recommend staying here.

This is a great place to stay for any group. Matt is great! He answered any questions that we had during our stay. The cabins are nice and comfortable and the lodge was perfect for meals with a large group. We enjoyed the pontoon that we rented as well. I highly recommend staying here!

Wonderful

We have been doing family reunions for many years and this is one of the best places we have stayed. Hosts were gracious and property was pristine. If you stay here you will not want for anything to do., lake , games both indoor and out, unbelievable beach within walking distance, campfires, and just relaxation. We loved it and you will too.

Fun for all!

Matt was there to meet us and show us around. Matt and CJ were great and did everything they could to make our time there enjoyable. This is a great location right on the lake. There were 4 cabins for our group of 15 to share. Then we had the lodge for our common area where we enjoyed our meals together, played pool, ping pong, foosball and the younger kids watched some movies. We rented the pontoon which was great for getting out on the lake and also getting over to McCarthy Beach. All in all we highly recommend renting from Matt and CJ. Our family is currently looking at schedules for next summer to see if we can agree on a week to go back. Sturgeon Lodge was great and Fun for all!

Great Family Getaway

Matthew has a passion for what he does and that comes through in the Side Lake property. The cabins are clean and the grounds are in great shape. He went out of his way to coordinate the check-in, and made sure our needs were getting met throughout the week. There was never a shortage of things to do to keep the little kids or the big kids busy. Thank you, Matthew.

Perfect Family Retreat

Absolutely wonderful place to get together with a big group. We had 12 adults, 3 children, 2 Little kids under 1, and a few dogs. There was PLENTY of space for us all. The description posted was very accurate. We had everything we needed here except food/drink (no blender however, we did bring one). Small beach area is perfect for kids, and easy for adults to just dip in. McCarthy Beach is about a 1/2 mile down the road or 20 min pontoon ride and is beautiful. Lots of outdoor space to play games/hang out. Wonderful lodge for rainy days. Matt and CJ are great hosts and are on site most of the time for anything you need (but gave us plenty of privacy). We will be coming back.

AWesome lake vacation!

Our group was 17 people (ages 8-80+) and 3 dogs. Everyone had the best time! The property has all that you need and everything is beautifully maintained. There is a great state park nearby where you can swim, fish, bike and walk. We are already planning our trip for next year! Thanks Matt, CJ and boys for being amazing hosts!

Liked the property and upkeep of it. Owner Takes pride of property and was great. The reunion we had , the relatives liked the detail and the main lodge and seemed to have everything so you did not need to bring things except food.

Northern Paradise

Beautiful location right on the water. This resort is perfect for a large family vacation. The four cabins allow each family to have separate accommodations, yet they are close enough that everyone can hang out together. The lodge was a perfect place to have meals for the whole group. It was also a fun place to hang out on a rainy day. Movies, ping pong and the pool table made for some group fun. The cabins and the lodge are very well appointed. Matt and CJ (and the very well managed and friendly dogs Annie & Tuck) were the perfect hosts. Quick responses by email, and available during our stay for anything we might need. Our entire family of 18 would highly recommend Sturgeon Landing.

Great family reunion accommodations

The property is well maintained and has an abundance of amenities that made our vacation wonderful for a family of 25. The property is located on a channel that is connected to a chain of lakes and has ample dock space for your boats. We also rented one of Matt's pontoon boats that made our trip more enjoyable. They have kayaks and a plethora of outdoor games on site to play with. If it is raining, your private lodge has a pool table, foosball, ping pong, tv, couch, kitchen, dvd collection, etc to keep you entertained. There are 4 cabin units with full kitchens and baths with a/c. Matt was a great host, he responded quickly to all inquires, both prior to our arrival and during our stay. We would not hesitate to stay here again. Thanks for providing our family with a wonderful vacation and lifelong memories.

Perfect Location for Family Reunion / Large Group

This was the perfect location for our family reunion of twenty-three (two grandparents, nine parents, and twelve grandchildren from six to seventeen). With the combination of four separate cabins and the large lodge, it has the ideal combination of space to allow both large group activities and privacy. Both the kids and grownups had a great time kayaking, fishing, swimming, throwing horseshoes, and roasting s’mores around the campfire. On the one day rain kept us indoors, the lodge gave everyone plenty of space to watch movies and engage in an epic family ping-pong tournament. The cabins were very comfortable, and the cooks in our group were really impressed with how well-equipped the lodge’s kitchen was. Matt and CJ were wonderful hosts, and they have really thought of everything.

Family reunion

This was a perfect site for our family reunion. We had 17 children from 18 down to under a year and adults from Great Grandma to the youngest parent. The facilities were wonderful allowing for privacy for each family when desired and large enough areas for our group gatherings. The kitchen facilities in the lodge were plenty large enough for the meals we had together and the kitchens in the cabins allowed for the families to have breakfasts alone on their own schedule. The lodge has a great selection of indoor activities available for all age groups. The owners provided more outdoor activities than we were able to utilize; a nice selection. Our group rented the pontoon for the week which we all enjoyed, from oldest to youngest. The owners and their family were wonderful hosts and always accessible for anything we needed. The families rated this vacation as better than last year at Disney World. We can't say enough about how impressed and pleased we all were and would recommend Sturgeon Landing wholeheartedly for a vacation destination.
