Our entire family really enjoyed our stay at this property. Plenty of room in the house and the boat dock was our main hang out during the day. We brought our boat and the location on the lake allowed us to pull our grandkids on the inner tube without having to be far from the house. This property was the perfect setup for our family.
We stayed here to allow all family members to see the 2024 eclipse in nearby Waco. The home was as advertised, held our full crew easily, and gave us the bonus of a lake experience to boot. The only issue is that you really do have to manage the use of the septic system with a group this large.
This was the 2nd time we stayed at Katy & her husbands property for a THSBA tournament weekend. House is beautiful, location is perfect, and the dock is wonderful. House has eveything you would need for a stay and there is plenty of parking, even with a boat trailer. Enough room for everyone to relax and unwind after a tense tournament day.
My family and I LOVED the lake house. The owners made sure we had everything we needed and were always available to answer our questions. Such a beautiful waterfront property with a large yet cozy home! And it’s just minutes from the boat launch. Perfect for anyone who loves the water.
We reached out to Katy and David last minute because the house we originally booked at lake limestone was cancelled due to the owner's account being hacked. With zero notice and at 8pm, they accepted our reservation and were able to save our trip by letting us check in that night. Honestly, given the circumstances we would have been happy with any place - but this place far exceeded everyone's expectations.
First off, this house is situated perfectly on a quiet part of the lake. We saw maybe 5 boats all weekend, very secluded. The beach is gradual and great for kids, the house has everything you would want to bring to the lake (kayaks, fishing rods / gear / place to clean fish, ton of beach chairs). Sunset view from the backyard, nice fire pit as well. The house was clean and well thought out, the property is large and kept up.
Our group was nine people total (and 2 dogs), the house is laid out in a way where we never felt cramped. We had kids from 18 months to 4 years in our group, house had stuff for all ages, from plates and baby utensils to lifejackets for toddlers and teenagers. Lot of games, kids loved the bunk room. All weekend people were making comments about "wow they have ____ here for the kids!" a lot of hosts these days aren't keeping places very stocked, it's good to stay at a place where the owners make sure guests have everything they need for their stay.
Highly recommend these owners and this property for anyone looking for a peaceful lake getaway
We rent a lake house every year. This house covered all our bases. Good for young grandkids as well as our teens , our dog and for us older folks that could sit inside with a great view of the lake and watch the activities in the AC. Boat ramp, convenience store and grocery store close as well. Katy and David were great host as well. We will definitely be back.
We love staying here! Katy and David are amazing hosts and have a beautiful place! This is a fantastic place to disconnect from technology and reconnect as a family, and that is just what our family of 7 did. The weather was gorgeous so every second was spent outside. The grill was easy and accessible. We also filleted some fish we had caught in their fillet station. It was super easy to clean. The boat dock is a great spot to fish at night or during the day as well. We brought our boat and we’re able to tie it up with no problem. This is definitely a favorite place for our family!
We had a great family Easter weekend, the kids had lots of fun fishing. The lake house was great plenty of room for 2 families and 2 dogs! The ping pong table was a plus, lots a fun playing! The kitchen had everything needed! The hosts were very nice and quick to answer any questions. Looking forward to come back when it’s warmer so we can enjoy the water!
THSBA had weigh in right around the corner at County Park #2. This location was super close and easily accessible. Katy was very responsive with all of our questions we had before we arrived and during our stay. They've got a very nice property and location on Limestone. Will definitely stay again when visiting Limestone for fishing tournaments or leisure!
Had been here before with a girls group. My husband & I and another couple wanted a getaway. The house is right on the lake with a wonderful deck and dock. All the amenities we could ask for - grills, stocked and functional kitchen with a great island as well as additional places to eat. Neighborhood is nice to walk in and we saw deer all over. The house is close enough to Mexia and Groesbeck for groceries, but Old Union has a convenience store for those essentials we forgot about. I would highly recommend staying. The owners are also extremely responsive!
House was clean and had everything we needed. Lots of space inside, but the outside was the part we loved most. The dock is amazing and after swimming, we enjoyed watching the sunset and wildlife. Great place for families with kids. The hosts were very helpful and responsive.
We had a great time really enjoyed our second stay at this Lakehouse. House accommodations are very nice no need for anything and new updates added to lakehouse looks awesome even had wifi grand kids loved it. I had very good communication with the homeowners I really appreciate their feed back. I would definitely recommend this Lakehouse you will definitely love it. I want to thank the homeowners appreciate the use of their Lakehouse May God continue to bless them.
Love, Carrizales Family Vacation ❤️
This is our favorite place to go to the lake! The house is quaint and cozy and the view of the water is beautiful. It’s close to the water and the dock has enough shade and sun to satisfy everyone.
This is a great vacation home. You can tell the owners come here frequently because they have literally every single thing you could possibly need and then some. My six year old and my mini Aussie were both living their absolute best lives the entire time. Even my 18 year old went out on the kayaks and played in the water. There are stores near by and the Old Union Eats restaurant was very good as well. Katy was always just a text away anytime I needed anything. Would definitely recommend. Plenty of space, towels, seating, blankets, and the air conditioning and fans work better than one could possibly need. Lol. Beds were super comfortable, they have all kind of games to play with the kids, and the boat ramp is so close you can see it from the yard. We hope to stay again one day for sure and greatly appreciate the use of the home for our temporary enjoyment.
We loved our family getaway. Our 5 year old granddaughter had a blast, from kayaking, fishing, and swinging to card games in the super tall loft with just right Barbie chairs . We had smores and all the birds that I love to watch. Very special lake house and view. Thank you to our gracious hosts.
This was a great find for us. The quaint and well supplied lake house was just what we needed. The rainstorm was fun to watch on the lake as it passed through. Then seeing a full moon on the lake that evening.
We enjoyed reading our books and fishing off the pier. The fresh air and beautiful lake was super.
This is a great place to bring your families so much to do.
Thank you for letting us have it for a few days.
We had a very peaceful and relaxing stay on the lake. The home was clean and provided us with everything we needed and more. Enjoyed the board games and ping pong. We fished from the dock and ate s’mores by the fire pit.

About the host
Hosted by Katy and David Mitchell
David and Katy have been married for almost 50 years and counting. We have two sons with their wonderful wives and 5 grandkids. We have dreamed of having a lake home getaway that we could enjoy with our family for years, but never thought it was possible. David still works part time in the family business with the help of his wife and his brother Pat converting large two-wheeled motorcycles to trikes (three wheelers).
Why they chose this property
We looked at lake property all over Central Texas for years. Most were too expensive, too crowded, too rocky, too small, too far away, etc. Honestly, we had never even heard of Lake Limestone until our oldest son mentioned he worked with a guy who grew up there. But once we found this property, we were hooked! As my son says, "It checks off all the boxes!" :-) The beach has a bulkhead, but it has a gently sloped, sandy beach which makes it perfect for the little ones when the lake level is down. When it's up, it's only about 2 feet deep at the bulkhead. You can sit in the shade and watch them play. You can fish off the dock, swim, or have a blast if you bring jet skis or boats. The large deck handles the largest family reunion or just the two of us eating lunch and watching the water fowl. We have kayaks available and a variety of water toys to enjoy. We love it here, and hope you will too.
What makes this property unique
In addition to sleeping 12 folks comfortably, this property has it all. The house is close to the water which allows you to be in the kitchen or sun room and watch the kids play. When the lake isn't full, the sandy beach (when the lake is down a bit) is gently sloped so very kid friendly. Or you can sit in the swing under the shady trees only a step or two from the water. The large deck off the lakeside of the house is perfect for eating for just a few or a large crowd.
The property is protected from the south wind which makes the water smooth whenever the wind is blowing from the south, which is when we all want to be in the water in the Summer. It's on the upper area of the lake with quick access to the Navasota River for fishing for white bass in the Spring. There is an outdoor covered porch area equipped with a sink which makes the perfect place to clean all your fish before you cook them for dinner! In addition to the 3 bedrooms (1 king bed and 2 queens), there is a loft area with 2 twin beds which is perfect for the older kids. And in the game room equipped with a ping pong table and lots of kid games is a bunk bed with a full bed on both the bottom and the top.
