Summary:
Holidays at Newberry Cottage are light and breezy, with a relaxed, peaceful atmosphere. Set back from the road and surrounded by lush trees and gardens, this charming cottage is just a 300m stroll to the beach and a 500m walk to the town centre—making it the perfect holiday getaway spot.

The Space:
*UNDER NEW OWNERSHIP, FULLY RENOVATED IN OCTOBER 2024*

A beautifully restored Dunsborough beach cottage that has all the charm of days gone but with all the modern comforts.

This charming three-bedroom, two-bathroom coastal cottage, complete with wrap-around verandas, brings a true relaxed coastal cottage feel, offering both character and inviting outdoor spaces. French doors in several rooms open onto the veranda, creating a bright, breezy ambiance throughout the cottage.

The main living area is a stylish open-plan space where the living, dining and kitchen sapces flow seamlessly together. Making it the perfect spot for family to gather for meals or to unwind with a movie, enjoy music on the record player, or battle it out over some board games.

The master bedroom is a spacious, light-filled retreat featuring a king-sized bed, reverse-cycle air conditioning, a private en-suite, and direct access to the outdoor timber deck.

The second bedroom offers an inviting queen bed with French doors opening onto the front veranda, whilst the third bedroom includes two single beds, with both rooms sharing a Federation-style main bathroom complete with vanity and a bath with a shower.

Air conditioning in the living area and master bedroom and ceiling fans in the other bedrooms. During winter, the cozy wood fire in the lounge adds a magical warmth to your stay.

At the rear of the cottage your will find a spacious outdoor decked area, ideal for entertaining, in the shade of the large umbrella. A spacious outdoor dining setting, hooded gas BBQ, day bed and a fire pit, make this a well-used area any time of the day or night. The ideal spot for families to come together and make unforgettable holiday memories.

You will also find a mini games room located in the shed on the property complete with table tennis and a sofa the perfect hang out spot for kids.

NB **THIS PROPERTY IS NOT SUITABLE FOR STUDENT/ LEAVER BOOKINGS**

Guest Access:
Guests have exclusive access to the whole property, including the garage which has a table tennis table and some bikes provided for guest use.

The Neighborhood:
Dunsborough is the jewel of the South West region, located on the beautiful shores of Geographe Bay. At low tide, the beach has shallow, clear waters, perfect for kids to play and splash around safely, and on a nice day you will find happy groups of visitors and locals alike paddling, floating, fishing and boating in the serene waters of the bay. Just outside of town there are some more secluded beaches, like Curtis Bay and Meelup.

Dunsborough is home to many lovely local boutiques, cafes, bars and restaurants, and provides a hub for everyone to enjoy good shopping, food and entertainment. A laidback coastal town with a lovely community feel, it experiences a large swell in population during high season, yet you would be amazed how peaceful holidaying here can still be, thanks to beautiful surrounding bush, leafy suburbs and long stretches of pristine beach.

It's not just about summer here, despite its popularity thanks to the glorious weather; all year round, even when we may be less blessed with warm days and sunny skies, visitors can enjoy hikes, biking, surfing, off-roading, horse riding, cave tours, water sports, fishing, wine and beer tasting, and generally eating and drinking one's way around the area! Visit in spring to catch the whale migration and wild flower season, or in autumn to enjoy quieter beaches and excellent surf.

Please see the Guidebook for our personal recommendations on where to eat, drink, shop and what to see & do in this fabulous region. This list is by no means exhaustive, however, so please get in touch if you need any pointers ahead of your stay.

The Margaret River Wine Region is one of the most prestigious winemaking areas in the world. Considered a “boutique” region, production is relatively small and quality-focused. The unique microclimates and fabulous soils here mean that producers are able to make some of the world’s best Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon, along with a host of other single varietal and blend wines; most wineries will have a good selection of options, including various sparkling wines, Sauvignon Blanc and Shiraz if the flagship varieties aren’t your cup of tea. Many of these wineries are also home to phenomenal restaurants, and your dining options will range from full tasting menus to casual pizzas or grazing boards. If you have any particular restaurant on your wish list, we strongly recommend booking ahead all year round. In peak summer season (December-February), bookings are essential and may need to be made several weeks or months in advance. Please contact us directly if you would like tailored recommendations for your self-guided winery and/or brewery tour. If you have time, we highly recommend buying a ticket onto one of the many locally operated winery and brewery tour buses, for an unforgettable day out of excellent food and drink.

Getting Around:
Dunsborough has a number of walking and bike paths, meaning that it is very easy to get around on foot and any wheels of your choice. It is now also home to an e-scooter initiative. Visitors wishing to explore the surrounding area will need a car.

Other Things to Note:
STRA Registration Number: STRA6281DBTGOEIO

All linen is provided (excl. beach towels). All of our accommodation is fully self-catered, and as a courtesy we provide a basic starter pack for each stay, including: soap, toilet rolls, tea, coffee & sugar, basic cleaning products, and some cooking essentials (oil, salt & pepper). We provide these items to help kick-start your holiday in a stress-free way, but guests are responsible for the ongoing supply of anything they should require beyond the starter pack provided.

During winter months, we provide some complimentary wood, kindling, matches and fire lighters for houses with indoor fire places. Guests requiring more wood for their stay - or wishing to use the fire outside of winter months - will need to purchase their own, available at local service stations and hardware stores.

We do not supply wood for fire pits, guests must supply their own and check before lighting any outdoor fires in case of a Total Fire Ban. No outdoor fires are permitted between 1 December to 28 February every year, subject to change at any time – please consult the DFES website before lighting any fires outdoors (this does not apply to gas BBQs/pizza ovens).

One of us is available on the number listed at all times; please do not call outside of office hours (Mon-Fri 9am-5pm) unless it is an emergency. We are on hand to answer DMs and texts after hours.

Girls weekend

We had a great stay! The house suited our needs for a girls getaway. Great location and beds were super comfy. The house felt a little bit tired than what the pictures showed (more on the outside). Would happily recommend to others and stay there again.

Perfect Cottage

This well cared for cottage is just as advertised, and amazingly private, given the proximity of the neighbors. There are shades on all of the windows, but because of the clever placement of the plantings I didn't feel the need to close any of them, which allowed plenty of light in and really made a difference. Beautifully furnished and a real pleasure to stay in. Quiet neighborhood, and a lovely walk into town. Having a driveway to park in was very nice.

Sister Trip

Loved the house and gardens, just beautiful. Came to relax and chill and it suited really well. Everything there that we needed, and generous with coffee, tea etc, but shops a really close car ride. Plenty of walks alongside the beach, coffee shops and restaurants you are spoiled for choice. Perfect for couples, wouldn't suggest for children. Lovely property!

Looks good but overpriced for what we really got.

Appearance is good. Needs a revamp. Old fraying carpet in main bedroom. Shower recess needs some attention. Living room couch is really uncomfortable with a bar sticking out and making it hard to sit, generally the most uncomfortable lounge all 4 of us have ever sat in. Plates in kitchen are all scratched. The measuring jug had a hole in the bottom. Main bedroom mattress lumpy and uncomfortable. Old “Bali” style massive cupboards (x2) in bedroom full of dusk and look dark, cheap and depressing in the room. All knives were blunt. Our friends ended up sleeping in single beds as the other main bedroom had some kind of weird “half cupboards”. Again, the mattress was not good.! They had to move into the single beds. Outside the dining window, we could see what could have been an old almond tree….someone has clearly butchered this lovely tree and made it ugly with careless pruning. Such a shame. Sadly we won’t be recommending it or staying again. Can’t believe the hefty cleaning fees you charge charge, when clearly no dusting has been done. Maggie, Paul, Monique and Robert.

Lovely cottage in great location

Stayed here for 5 nights with 2 young kids ( 4 and 6.) It’s a great cottage with everything you need. We were able to cycle to the beach and also close to town. Kids loved the fire and climbing the tree in the back. Beds were comfy and kitchen had all the basics, including some kids crockery. Check in was easy and communication with the rental agency was good. Dunsborough is such a great place to stay with kids - beach, Monkey Business, Xscape, cycling, whale-watching and lots of parks. Exhausted but happy!
