Relaxing Trip

My husband and I had a wonderful time celebrating our 15th wedding anniversary in Bardstown. The house was lovely. I loved the older interior design of the home, but it also was up to date in areas you would hope for. While we did dine out a couple times, we were appreciative of the full kitchen to prepare some of our meals in. I was grateful for our time to relx and rest!

Amazing stay!

Husband I stayed here during a last minute trip to the bourbon trail. We absolutely loved the location and the space was ideal. It was just the two of us but could have easily accommodated 2 more without feeling cramped. Loved being able to walk to dinner after a day of driving around. Margret Sue’s recommendations were great! For dinner we tried Talbott’s tavern and Scout and Scholar which were great and walkable. For local bars we did Volstead and Liam and Ashe, all very close and good as well. The bakery across the street was also amazing. Wish we had more time for the local shops but will have to wait until our next trip. Would stay here again in a heartbeat!

Great downtown location.

Great location to downtown, everything is walkable. Only complaint was outside noise. The Tap room had a DJ on back patio which was quite loud on our Friday & Saturday night stay. The intersection in front was quite busy in morning with bakery traffic. The bakery was outstanding. Clean and very comfortable stay.

Downtown Bardstown convenience

We enjoyed the hospitality provided By Margaret Sue. The cottage is cozy and comfortable. I only have one negative aspect to this cottage. Would be that the street between the bakery and the cottage is quite busy beginning at 7 am. The school buses were quite loud. If your up by then it would not be a problem. It is very quite at night. it isis gets quite busy when

It was fine

The house was nice. The location was extremely convenient. It was an older home so smelled kind of musty. The queen bed was not our style… it was very noisy and we didn’t find it comfortable. The property manager was very kind and responsive.

Great location

The house was great with great history. The whole neighborhood is great. We loved walking to eat and shop. I felt very safe and comfortable. Beds were very comfortable and the house has plenty of room. The only problem is if you plan on cooking you might need to bring cookies sheets lucky I do this when I travel because I bake. The house is very clean and I love the kitchen sink I would recommend this house.

Cute place

Convenient walk to Bardstown square. Comfortable and nicely appointed. Only drawback, which was minor for us two couples, was having a single bathroom. Our second stay here and highly recommended.

Nice home in great location

House is very clean, had everything we needed for our stay, and is in a super location right in town. Weather was nice so we got to enjoy the side and front porches as well. Check in was as easy as it gets and check out was even easier. Had a great stay and would definitely stay here again!

Great location, adorable historic house

We’ve stayed here twice in the past three years and it’s great. The exterior is charming as is the interior. The kitchen is great to cook in, the bathroom is spacious, and the bed is super comfy! There is some street noise to contend with but we don’t find it outrageous. The location is just one block off the Main Street where the shops and restaurants are. The Scout & Scholar brewery is less than a block away and has a really lovely courtyard if the weather is nice. If you like hiking it’s just a short drive to Bernheim Forest. Margaret Sue is a very gracious and responsive host. There’s a large binder in the kitchen with plenty of info you might need. There is coffee and snacks waiting on the counter, and bottled waters in the fridge. We will gladly stay again!

Great Stay in Bardstown!

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay in the Bourbon Cottage! The location is perfect for exploring downtown via walking, the neighborhood is gorgeous, and the bakery next door is yummy. The cottage was super clean with all the necessary amenities and lots of extra thoughtful touches. Sipping cocktails on the front and side porches was the perfect way to end each day. We would definitely stay here again!

Spring Getaway

This house is beautiful. It has all the modern features of today but also reflects the historical nature of Bardstown and early Kentucky. The beds, couches, chairs were all super comfortable, and we definitely enjoyed sitting out on the covered porch. The location could not be better. It is right in the historical downtown area. There are shops and restaurants within a few hundred feet and a bakery right across the street. The food was excellent. Highly recommend the Scout and Scholar (closest to the house) and Mammys kitchen

Hello, I am Margaret Sue Masters and I along with my husband, Michael Masters, known as "The Colonel", have bought and restored the Bourbon Cottage in 2015. We have been in the hospitality business for over 20 years in Bardstown. We have revived and restored 4 cottages for vacation rentals in the historic district of downtown Bardstown.
In 2004 we bought and restored the Chapeze House, circa 1787, downtown off the court square. In 2010 we converted this property into the Kentucky Bourbon House, a Boutique Hotel wtih charming private suites. We also conduct in the Bourbon Bar 2 classes: Bourbon University and Bourbon Mixology twice daily Mon-Sat. We also host intimate wedding ceremonies and elopement packages. Couples can choose to marry in the elegant parlor or in the formal garden that makes up the backyard.
Come and experience our "Hospitality Kentucky Style"......

Why they chose this property

I have loved this cottage and property it sits on for over 25 years. When it finally came on the market I jumped at the chance to own and restore it back to its GLORY! Flaget Avenue is one of Bardstown's premier addresses right in the heart of downtown Historic Bardstown. Sit on the porch and take in all the sites , sounds and smells (Hadorn's Bakery being next door!) that makes Bardstown truly a magical place to visit.

What makes this property unique

Bardstown is a busy little town! Our downtown has limited parking, however, Bourbon Cottage answers that parking deliemma. It's downtown close to all the attractions, restaurants, bars and nightlife, but the great thing about this cottage is you can walk and never move your car from the driveway. You are right in the thick of it all but with no parking hassles!!!
