Family & Friends Weekend on the Lake

Great place for us & our friends to enjoy the weekend on the beautiful lake. Such a beautiful home with the best lake house vibes. Very spacious & equipped with every thing you would need to make your stay cozy & comfortable. The best part was the serene setting which makes you feel like you're truly getting away.

Lake house with family

This was an excellent lake house stay for my family including my wife, adult children, and two young grandchildren. The house was clean and well maintained with an exceptional, large screened in porch with a beautiful view of Lake Keawee. The boat dock was perfect for launching kayak and boat trips, short swims, and enjoying the evening sunsets. We will definitely come back to this property again.

Great Location on Lake Keowee

This house was a great place to rent. The location on the lake was great and the house was minutes from town. The deck is screened in with a swing. That was very nice to sit outside at night and play games. The game selection was great. The downside was the 50 stairs to get to the water from the deck.

Wonderful house on lake for getting together

We rented the house for an extended weekend. We were 8 and it was spacious, super clean and beautifully decorated. The house has great access to the lake. The owner was exceptionally responsive to any even minor issue during the stay. Highly recommend this place !

Great Lake location

This lake property is near a marina and marina restaurant by water. The water is high and boating was fun. The cove is quiet but located near tons of stuff. Had a great time. House was great.

Great getaway spot on the lake!

The house was very accommodating to our family! Plenty of space to spread out on the rainy days. The screened in porch is where we lived if we weren’t floating in the lake! We cooked in every night and grabbed lunch at the Tiki bar! We rented a boat from the local marina. Overall great week in a nice home with family!

Spacious Lake house -Great for Families

We really enjoyed our stay at the lake house. We had 6 adults, 2 teens, and 1 younger child and we had plenty of space. We enjoyed swimming off the dock and rented a boat close by for two days. Lots of islands and beaches to check out. We strolled around Seneca and Clemson and enjoyed shopping and local restaurants. Grocery stores are very close and convenient. Best lake house we have stayed at in this area. Would love to come back!

Great for any family!

The location is excellent - easy to get to at the bottom end of the lake in Seneca. You can see Keowee Marina across the lake from the dock. Restaurants, grocery stores and Walmart very close. Kids love playing in the water off the dock - bring your own water toys. House has been upgraded with new kitchen, bath rooms remodeled, 4 bedrooms with good beds and configured with flexibility. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return!

Comfortable home with beautiful view

Spent a few nights here over spring break with the added benefit of being close to Clemson to visit with my oldest. It was a very comfortable home for us. We loved the view, spending time on the porch and rented a pontoon boat for a fun day on the lake. We loved the trip and enjoyed the place. We are used to rental homes with a few more amenities - soap, extra tp, etc. The towels and sheets were clean but the quality was not great. Overall the house was very good but a few small details would make it great. Thank you for a great few days.

Okay house but watch out for insurance scam

First I would like to state our family are long time VRBO users. We have NEVER had a complaint. I have only written reviews for excellent houses..never left acomplaint. However this time, I believe my family has been victimized. I will start out by stating that yes we had several extra people in our party. We have 12 children, 7 adopted, 4 in wheelchairs. The description read 10 adults so we did not include our two young boys, our 5 month old grandbaby or two of our children who are confined to wheelchairs . We always bring their blowup mattresses because we can not keep them safe in regular beds. Owner took pictures of people coming in and out of the house and numbered them. In those pictures she included my sisters family who came to visit us for the day!! So if the owner wanted to keep our deposit of $500 because of that I would sadly say ok. However... in a home where I first had to wipe down counters, remove food from the refrigerator, make beds, found bedding with blood on it and had to kill over 15 roaches on the first night, you can imagine how upset were to find out $3,000 in damages were submitted to the travel insurance! When I emailed the owner she claimed we cut the top of a mattress off, broke patio furniture and caused much damage to all the walls and door jams. If you have been to the home, the upstairs in beautifully renovated. The bottom floor has not and has alot of wear and tear. The owner herself states it is her second home and they are there any weekend it is not used. Without any proof my family was targeted for destroying a house which is just NOT TRUE. In fact, the outside of the home looked prepped and ready to be painted with holes patched...I guess $1,000 in paint would come in handy about now. When we talked with the insurance company, they told us this renter had maxed out the number of submissions she was entitled to but they were going to give her half of the money she requested. Apparantely she has a history of this. My family has encountered discrimination before and this experience makes me feel that we have been targeted. I do not expect any return of our money. That is not the purpose of this review. It just makes us so angry when lies are told about our family and people get away with fraud. We would hate for this to happen to you!

Great House and Convenient Location

This house has a wonderful floor plan, especially if you have kids who need lots of space to play. The layout is excellent for living as it is open, bright and very functional. The best part of the house, in our opinion, is the huge, screened porch overlooking Lake Keowee. We practically lived out there from morning to night. It has a great living area with lots of comfortable chairs and sofas, a large table for meals and a fabulous swinging "bed" that hangs fro the ceiling. The kids loved that! The house is on a hill above the lake and requires a lot of stair climbing to get to and from the dock. The dock is wonderful with a large landing jet ski dock and covered slip for a small boat. Lots of fun anytime. We had a few things that we did not like, however. The house did not seem to have been cleaned well prior to our arrival. We actually had to do some cleaning ourselves which included cleaning out the refrigerator, wiping down the counters, window sills, and other areas. There was no toilet paper aside from a partial roll in each bath. No soap was provided in the baths either. The beds were not made up and had the sheets in a pile on the corner of each bed. We had to make all the beds ourselves before we could use them. It was hard to tell if the sheets had even been cleaned. No one liked the sheets that were provided. They were hot, polyester sheets that felt like you were sleeping in plastic wrap. Several in our party even elected to sleep on the bedspread because the sheets were so uncomfortable! The gas grill had an empty gas canister which we had to replace at our expense at the local Lowes. We left it there for the next guest. All in all, we got the feeling that we were just using the owner's house as they left it. It did not have the ambiance that most VRBO and Homeaway rentals we had become used to. These inconveniences, though small, could have been rectified easily and at little cost to the owner. There were only three chairs on the dock. That made using it for relaxation for 6 adults difficult. Finally, the landscaping was very rough and muddy. It appeared that no one cared about the beauty of the place or that you had to navigate muddy hills to get to and from the dock. This rental just needs to pay attention to the little things. Maybe even a bottle of wine, some snacks ad a welcome card on the kitchen island would have made us feel more like paying guests than family members.

Wonderful Lake House!

This house was perfect for our group (2 families - 4 adults, 4 teens, 1 child). Plenty of space for everyone to spread out. The kids loved the basement while the adults hung out on the huge porch! The location to the marina was perfect too - easy to get gas for the boat and there was no boat traffic that usually goes with being near a marina. The neighborhood was perfect for taking walks in the morning and the location to Seneca was ideal for getting groceries, going to dinner, etc. We will definitely be back!

Great Lake week!

We really enjoyed this house! The location can’t be beat, both on the water and in proximity to town for food or necessities ( although we didn’t leave much !) It’s just over 5 minutes to the marina, we even drove the boat over to the Tiki Hut @ the marina for dinner one night which was fabulous, much better than it used to be and great place to watch the sunset. The dock at the house can be lighted which is perfect if staying out in the water a bit later. The dock itself is wonderful and the best of any house we have stayed out in either Lake Murray or Lake Keowee. We stored 2 paddle boards, a kayak and our jet boat. The dock also has plenty of room for just sitting and reading or sunning. There’s a great little seat for 2 that is just above the water which the kids enjoyed. The screened in porch with porch swing was my favorite spot in the house ! Great kitchen and well stocked, had all we needed. The beds were very comfortable as well. We had no issue with towels or sheets like a previous post, all were fine. My only word of caution is the trio to and from dock is steep with a lot of steps. Not a problem for us or most but if somebody has an issue with lots of stairs may not be the best . The pictures clearly show this but just to emphasize. The owner was great and very responsive with the very few questions we had. Would rent again !

Great location, beautiful home….BUT….

Great location, beautiful home, lovely furnishings, porch is amazing, lake & dock wonderful!…BUT -this all may sound negative - know we would still rent but be aware - READ ON - it's not clear in the checkin instruction that beds won’t be made, so be prepared to do that & sheets & towels are the least quality items in the house. There are extras but sheets are polyester & uncomfortable & are ill-fitting (thick mattresses) & towels are just worn. We arrived late & making up the bed was the last thing we wanted to do. The next morning when we unloaded for our 2-week stay, we found many dead bugs (many)- in every room, a dirty fridge inside & in the garage, full/dirty cabinets (food spilled & crumbs & dirt-left from previous guests?) & cat food stored with pots & pans. 4 hours of cleaning & making all the beds & I went to relax on the porch bed swing - only to find the sheet that covered it was full of pet hair & stains. I contacted the owner, explained my dilemmas & she explained that sheets are left off beds so you will know they are clean; house cleaners had been there the Monday before & exterminator came in between their visit & our move in, offered to refund the $200 cleaning fee & told me where to find a replacement sheet for the porch swing. We had a great time outside & on the porch, enjoyed the kitchen (note - there is no exhaust fan, so you need to open a window to let out oven/stove heat) & the kitchen contains all the utensils, dishes, etc. that you will need. Beware of the WII games system downstairs - our adult children & their children (ages 4 & 6) were playing some game with “paddle motion” like tennis? & the WII wand is required. Most of the WII pieces are missing the covers for where the batteries are - & one of the children “swung” (with their parents sitting right beside them) & the batteries flew out, hit the television & cracked the screen into inoperable status - all by accident…since batteries were not covered. We alerted the owner, verified that we’d purchased rental house insurance, & it was filed to cover the replacement television & installation. It’s all back together good as new according to the owner. Just be aware. Oh - the listing says child friendly & mostly it is but there is a really cute rope railing between the living room & the staircase to the lower level of the house that is dangerous. It will not keep a small child from falling through. We found a wooden gate & put it over part of it but be aware.

Great vacation!

We love the location of the house. Everything is as described. The only thing that I would say is since coming in at the end of the season there were a lot of things stuffed in cabinets that had no rhyme or reason. A lot of empty boxes and empty cleaning bottles. There was also laundry in the washer and dryer when we got there. There was plenty of kitchen equipment, plenty of chairs for the dock and we couldn’t have asked for better weather. We would definitely return.

We are lake people. Grew up and raised our own family loving the lake and the serenity of lapping water on the shore. We are happiest boating, fishing, jet skiing, water skiing, and simply hanging out with our friends and family. In July 2015 we purchased this fixer upper with great bones but in much need of love. Spring 2016 we finished transforming the house into an comfortable lake retreat for those who want the best Lake Keowee can offer. Location, experience, perfect!

Why they chose this property

This house has everything you need for a relaxing Keowee experience. With five bedrooms and four bathrooms, there is plenty of room for everyone.
The lake and being together with family is what started our adventure. We rented and shared ownership ourselves on Lake Keowee for years. Our strong attraction to keep coming back is what landed us a home of our own. It is located close to everything. Forgetting a bottle of ketchup or running for a late night snack is never a challenge here. You can gas up the boat literally across the waterway and you're ready for fun! Our residence is close enough for us to enjoy the house in between rentals and ensure that it is well-maintained.
Lake Keowee is a beautiful lake with marinas and restaurants. As more of a retirement destination the lake is populated but not overused. The lake is owned and maintained by Duke Power. This ensures the lake levels are constant, no threat of low levels or drought ruined vacations. The location is convenient to Clemson University, the mountains of NC, small picturesque towns such as Highlands, Cashiers and Asheville, larger cities such as Greenville, Charlotte and Atlanta. Terrific location for Clemson home football games, special events and college tours!

What makes this property unique

You cannot beat the location of this house. We offer a deep water covered dock WITH a sunning platform AND personal watercraft lift. Merely minutes from Death Valley, local restaurants, shopping, grocers and entertainment. Inside Seneca city limits and within sight of the Lake Keowee Marina for boat and watercraft rentals, fuel, service and waterfront dining. Lake Keowee is among the most beautiful lakes in the country. This house is in a quiet bay at the southern end of the lake within minutes from everything. The location provides privacy and serenity with easy access to the main portion of the lake. Available activities include boating, fishing, canoeing, kayaking, jet skiing, water skiing, sailing, paddle boarding, swimming, hiking, biking, and picnicking. We also enjoy the close proximity to Seneca, Easley, and Clemson which provide shopping, golf, restaurants, antiquing, sightseeing, movies, miniature golf and all Clemson University sports.
