As we're at 500m altitude we have our own micro climate and the weather can change rapidly, sometimes you'll experience all of the seasons in a single day. Depending on the moon cycle and weather you may be lucky enough to see the most uninterrupted night sky views you could ever imagine!

In Summer we’d appreciate check in to be between 4-7pm and in Winter 3-5pm. You will have complete privacy at the retreat, we live about on the property and work from home so we will be available if you need anything.

Guest access:
The entire home is exclusively yours to enjoy. We recommend you bring food to self-cater as we are a 45 minute drive from the nearest supermarket.

Interaction with guests:
We will meet you on arrival at the bottom of the mountain and will be available on the property, but you will have complete privacy at the house. We work from home so you will be able to contact us if you need anything.

Other things to note:
Please note the only cell phone reception available on the property is at the house where you'll be staying. On the drive to Peak View you won’t have any reception.

Please note the driveway is a gravel road for 5.5kms up the mountain. The is a bit windy, and can be a bumpy adventure so we recommend a comfortable vehicle like an SUV.

We look forward to sharing the Peak View Retreat experience with you and showcasing our stunning Nelson and Marlborough region.

Peak Experiences

Peak View The gracious host met us at the bridge and lead us 2-miles uphill, curving back and forth through forests and fields, and finally to the mountain top and Peak View home. Wow! As you open the front door the considered design of the spaces and furnishings is apparent and the 180° views will steal your heart. You’ll see the Tasman Bay, the adjacent nature reserve, the Abel Tasman Park in the distance, and the 200 private wooded acres that surround the home. Outside, a sweeping wrap-around deck offers 360° views of sunrises, sunsets, and stars, not to mention clouds and birds at eye-level. Back inside, the house has a lovely living and dining room and even a snug for TV watching. The first-level has a discreet powder room, and an open kitchen with handsome host-made barstools plus beautiful host-made ceramic plates and cups. Heading down the gracious spiral staircase to the lower floor, built partially into the mountain which keeps it cool and cozy, you’ll find a large naturally lit hallway that leads to the two small bedrooms that are nicely appointed with large comfortable beds and nice views. The two compact en-suite bathrooms are modern and stylish, but could use more counter space. For outdoor relaxation, there is a terrific wood-fired hot tub and the adjacent wood-fired sauna has a glass wall to take in the uninterrupted views. This awesome mountain top retreat, fully living up to its name, will gift you with innumerable and unforgettable peak experiences.

About the host

Hosted by Natalia

Host profile image
Carl and I moved to Nelson in 2018 when we bought what is now Peak View Retreat. We both work from home and love spending time in nature.
Carl likes hunting and fishing and I love making pottery, cold plunges & hiking with our two rescue dogs. We enjoy mountain biking, rock climbing, scuba diving and pretty much any adventurous outdoor activities.
Our long term goal is to be fully self sufficient on the land growing all our food.

Why they chose this property

Natalia grew up spending school holidays in Nelson and always dreamed of moving here one day. We slowly started looking for properties and we’d dreamed of building some sort of unique accommodation in a spectacular location together and running our business. When we saw this location and the views we were sold! Nat knew instantly this was the one, had to convince Carl and the bank, but everything just happened so smoothly and easily - it was meant to be!!!
Our long term goal is to live self sufficiently on the land growing everything we need.

What makes this property unique

The feeling of being on top of the world with both mountain and ocean views and just the sounds of birds and nature is unparalleled. This is a dream come true and a once in a lifetime opportunity!
