Area is reason to book.
We liked the quieter side of Waikiki beach so we picked this area. Prior to booking I noticed there was a pool mentioned in the write up (not being available if there was construction the advertisement read) once booked I was told there was not a pool. The cancellation means they instantly take 50% if you cancel and area was good so we kept the booking. I read in reviews the pull out bed was broken in July prior and I needed it for my 6 and 7 year old girls so I asked specifically if it was replaced or still broken. I was lied to and told it was fixed. When we arrived the place wasn’t very clean with poop spray from previous guest by the toilet paper dispenser. False eyelashes on the floor and hair close to the sliding door ( not carefully cleaned) which has no bottom track so kind of dangerous for kids. It’s mentioned a number of times to be careful with it. The pull out bed was BROKEN!! We had to leave it out all day and night because it couldn’t be put away. Which made the place very small for 4 people which I asked if was ok since the place is listed as a 3 max. The dishwasher was broke and would have caused a flood I was told when I consulted a dishwasher repairman we met while visiting randomly (Uber driver haha) when I asked the property management company about these inconsistencies, the ice maker was also broke with out even a tray for making ice so plan for that, they said those amenities are not listed under the amenities. Which is true it’s not. The offered to have someone come in and look at the dishwasher but we declined as we decided to wash dishes by hand and let them do that on their own time. Oh no dish rack either. Also no bath mat so you will have to use the limited towels (pay laundry) to put down after your shower so kids don’t slip getting out. The bed was the biggest obstacle for us and since we are super hosts on another platform I have enough experience to know that they “maybe” just bent the bed back and called it fixed till the next person opened it. Only a replacement would have been a fix. I was offered 3% (not a typo) off my next visit to Hawaii as if that was payment for having a huge mattress in the middle of the room that no adult could sit on for fear of damaging it so much that it wouldn’t be fit to sleep on the next night and no couch at all since had to stay in a bed form. Ridiculous. VRBO customer support was 0 help and said I could only leave a review. No compensation at all.
