Peaceful Pembrokeshire

Lovely property with everything we needed for our stay. Very welcoming welcome pack, excellent internet. Excellent value for money. Susie very helpful with any queries that we had.Thank you Susie for letting us charge our PHEV, an added bonus. Lodge is well situated to visit many beautiful places. We did many walks during our 10 day stay, mainly using the coastal path. We found Pembrokeshire as peaceful and unspoilt as we rememberedI it from our camping, diving and caravanning days and would not hesitate to go back. And the weather was glorious

Short Easter break

Very easy to check in. Susie was great at responding to any queries I had and the property itself even though small and quaint, was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Loved all the art prints in all of the rooms! Pretty central location to places we visited and even got a local run in from Hook to Llangwm and back around the stunning Cleddau estuary.

Great Base for Discovering Pembrokeshire

Property is located inland, in a quiet village near to the River Cleddau. It is quite cosy and ideal for a couple. There is a small village store for essentials and the nearest town is Haverfordwest, where you can find most things including bars, supermarkets and restaurants. Haverfordwest is not particularly interesting but this property is a great base for visting other parts of Pembrokeshire with great coastal walks and beaches within easy reach. You just need good weather which we fortunately enjoyed.

Peace and quiet

I spent a lovely half term holiday in Hook. The cottage was very clean and comfortable, it was a perfect base for our daily trips to local beaches and attractions, all within 30 minute drive. Poor Internet connection, I had to depend on data on my phone, however, it helped us relax so worked for the best really

Lovely Break

We had a lovely time during our stay. The property is located in a beautiful, quiet town with some nice local walks. We enjoyed several days out around Pembrokeshire, with a short drive taking us to Haverfordwest, St David’s, Tenby and Broadhaven. The property was immaculately clean upon arrival and we loved the little touch of welsh cakes when we arrived. We would definitely love to stay again if we venture to Pembrokeshire in the future.

Great little place!

Bryn Lodge ticks all the boxes - an excellent location for exploring both north and south Pembrokeshire, peaceful environs, an immaculate and tastefully furnished interior, and a lovely private garden at the rear. Susie was a helpful and discreet host. The perfect choice for a relaxing break in this beautiful corner of Wales.

Lovely cottage and surroundings. Both beds terribly uncomfortable and made it difficult to get a good nights rest unfortunately. Would suggest there be a wash line outside to hand wetsuits and swimming costumes after day out. Felt lounge wasn’t a little cramped as the brown leather sofa was superfluous to our needs. On the whole, great stay. Loved the welcome pack. Would have liked q toilet roll per person as we are 3. Very accommodating with allowing us to charge our Tesla in the evenings. A coronavirus sheet would have been helpful to know how the local area delas with masks on / off as well as needing to pre book castle visits etc.

Completely 'Hook (ed)' by Pembrokeshire!

A modern, comfortable chalet with just about every mod con you could need. Added bonus of a lovely small quiet garden, for your exclusive use, having a furnished patio area and pleasant outlook across fields. There is a choice of nice local walks from the chalet with access to the estuary and all it's glorious wildlife. The owners Susie, Karl and family were very friendly and approachable but never intrusive. They were more than happy to share their local knowledge to help us make the most of our stay. Hook itself is located centrally from numerous superb beaches, most of which are dog friendly (do check beforehand, though). There is a small stores in Hook for everyday items and a choice of supermarkets close to Haverford West (10 mins by car). Decent local pubs doing 'pub grub' were The Cottage Inn, in nearby Llangwm (5 mins by car) and The Jolly Sailor in Burton (12 mins by car). The 'must do' beaches are, in our opinion, (we have a dog) Freshwater East, Marloes Sands (visit the Runwayskiln cafe!) and Broadhaven/ Bosherston. Access to Broadhaven beach can be via the Lily Ponds at Bosherston which is a very pleasant stroll in itself (National Trust parking in Bosherston). St. Davids is worth a visit to appreciate the Cathedral; combine it with a trip to nearby (7 miles) Newgale beach? We could go on and on ...... but why not explore Pembrokeshire for yourselves?

About the host

Hosted by Susie Adams

Host profile image
Hi, I'm Susie and I live here in Pembrokeshire with my two teenage girls! We all love the outdoors and spend a great deal of time both at the beach and in the woods! We try and surf, camp and walk the coastal path as often as possible!

Why they chose this property

I looked at lots of property but settled on my cottage mainly due to the location - quiet village on the very edge of the Cleddau Estuary. There are lots of beautiful walks around the village and Estuary which we often do with the dog.
We can easily access Pembroke Dock and the beaches of South Pembrokeshire - Barafundle etc. However the property is also close (4.5 miles) to Haverfordwest (County Town).

What makes this property unique

We love this location as we are just a couple of hundred yards from the Cleddau Estuary where one is able to launch a Kayak or small dinghy. Llangwm is our neighbouring village and they have launch facilities as do Port Lion, Burton and Neyland Marina. From here you are able to sail as far as Neyland, Milford Haven or Lawrenny Quay. Lawrenny Quay has lovely walks and a lovely Cafe serving the most fabulous crab and Banoffee Pie!

Pembrokeshire is a beautiful county and is attractive to the quiet dog walker or adventurous kite surfer. It has something for everyone. We can provide lots of information on activities, best beaches, lovely walks and good places to eat. We are always on the hunt for good 'Gastronomic' treats as choice has been limited in Pembs until the last few years....
