Amazing house with views to match. We were 4 and fit easily into the house. We loved our stay and would recommend it all. Kitchen was fully equipped with everything you could need and sitting room comfy. Best best of all was eating outside looking at amazing view.
We stayed for 3 months while house hunting it was an amazing find the views and walks from the barn are amazing the house was spotless and very well equipped for an extended
stay beds and bed linens comfy and good quality the local coffee shop is walkable and friendly good for basic necessities good array of pubs around too.. Jonathan couldn’t have done more to improve our stay and nothing was too much trouble a real hidden gem of a place
A fabulous property to stay in with stunningly beautiful views. The property is very comfortable and equipped with everything needed to a high standard.
We had a lovely weeks break taking in the sights and going for walks on the pathways on our doorstep.
Unable to fault anything.
Thank you to Jonathan and Louise for making our week so enjoyable and comfortable especially in these difficult.
From the day we arrived to the day we left the tranquility stayed with us. If you want peace and quiet then this is the location, with spectacular views, wildlife in abundance and lots of walks to tempt the novice or seasoned hikers, you will not be disappointed.
Jonathan was an excellent host, ensuring we had everything we needed for a pleasant holiday.
A stunning and comfortable property which we used as a good base to explore the local attractions.
The roads leading to and from the house are very much single track roads (although aren't overly busy so it's not much of an issue but be warned, they are very tight!) and the tv signal isn't great (neither is the wifi within the far reaches of the house) but whilst this is useful to be aware of, none of it detracts from what is a brilliant place to stay.
Great communication from the owner. Gorgeous views. Peaceful. Spacious and well decorated. We had a great week and were all sad to leave.
The only suggestion I have which I think could have improved pur experience would have been a small welcome hamper on arrival. We arrived quite late (our fault due to work commitments) and ended up having to go to Tesco about 23:30 to get some bits and pieces in, so just a little something with some basic local produce would have been much appreciated.
I think the title says it all ,the location and property were outstanding.
Johnathon was a great host giving us all the information we needed and was good enough to let our son that wanted to camp stay in one of his fields that wad next to the barn
Set in the spectacular scenery of the Wye Valley, Hopewell Barn is a comfortable house with amazing views. It is beautifully clean and well equipt, a real home from home. The owners are local and very helpful.
The view- just wow!
The accommodation was fantastic, and everything was spotless. The host was a pleasure to speak to, and everything ran smoothly.
The area is just gorgeous, and the view from the barn is breathtaking.
Hope to be back again 😊
We loved our stay at Hopewell Barn. The barn itself was spacious and very clean and had everything we needed. We loved the kitchen in particular, the view is spectacular! Our children also enjoyed visiting the sheep in the neighbouring field! We would love to return in the future.
The barn is a great location for scenery and walking. Walks are in easy reach with out having to drive away from the barn. The valley, which the barn overlooks, is beautiful and full of birdsong.
The barn is fully equipped for a comfortable stay, spacious, clean and well maintained. The kitchen is huge.
The host is friendly, helpful and welcoming and the location is peaceful and undisturbed.
We will certainly return.
Great location away from the crowds. Beautiful, cleaned house (which was well equipped) with a very welcomed wood burner. We had a lovely stay despite the very changeable weather! And of course we just left on a very sunny day.....
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the barn, which was well-equipped and offered stunning countryside views. It was a great place to relax and unwind. Jonathan our host was very helpful and ensured that we had everything we needed. We also loved the area with many places to walk and nearby landmarks to visit.
The photographs of this barn don’t do it justice - it’s very impressive. The kitchen, which is one whole small barn is really stunning with wonderful views across the valley. The seating area is very comfortable. The two upstairs bedrooms are small but adequate and well furnished. We very much enjoyed our stay.
Beautifully furnished property with outstanding views. The Owner could not have been more helpful. The Community Shop, a short drive away was delightful.
The barn is great. It is very well equipped, the kitchen is excellent with an outstanding view across the valley. The barn is perfectly located, with so much to see and do within half an hour’s drive. There are walks everywhere into amazing scenery. This was our first experience of the Wye Valley and if certainly will not be the last.
Hope we’ll Barn was a delightful experience. The description and pictures do not do it justice. It’s a truely relaxing place. All that’s missing is some spa music and insense. The house is beautifully laid out and located near lots of great country walks. It’s remote but also close enough to enjoy activities and do a bit of shopping. Views are breathtaking. We will definitely be back.
Johnathan was a great host and although we didn’t call on his assistance much at all you know he’s there with local knowledge and support. He even moved the sheep out of the next door field so our dog could have a proper run around. He checked up on us during storm Dudley and Eunice when we had a power cut.
Could boy fault this place. Facilities in the house are all you need and is so warm and cosy for that relaxing getaway.
Lovely Barn amazing views and very helpful and friendly host
A bit off the beaten track perfect for walks in the Wye Valley
We found the double room a bit snug but there is a larger twin room downstairs
The Dining Kitchen area is really splendid very light and charming
Local shop very useful and they serve light lunches and tea and cake
The cottage is wonderfully positioned above a quiet valley, with great views. Inside it is very comfortable and spacious. Excellent walks from the door and short drives to many more.

About the host
Hosted by Jonathan Cockburn
We have lived in the Wye Valley for over 35 years. 12 years ago we converted our old barn into a fabulous holiday home. We only live four fields away, so if you need us, we can come and help out at a moment's notice; but we will not be breathing down your neck either! We have three children, but they have all left home now. We still have a small flock of friendly sheep, which you may see from time to time in one of the fields next to the barn.
Why they chose this property
Hopewell Barn is located in an officially designated area of outstanding natural beauty. One of the reasons why we decided to convert our old barn was because it has such brilliant views across the valley. The Wye valley is fabulous for walking, cycling, canoeing and riding and there is alot to explore and see in this area. The local walks are all superb and there is a very popular community run Village Shop only half a mile down our lane. This is the place to visit if you are looking for a rural retreat on the edge of the Forest of Dean and Wye Valley. Also, although it is in a peaceful area, this part of the Wye valley has good links to the motorway network so it's relatively easy to get to.
What makes this property unique
Hopewell Barn is a place to come to recharge your batteries; so by the time you leave you will feel completely relaxed and ready to take on the world again. The barn has lots of windows and skylights so is always bright and cheerful no matter what the weather and if you don't feel like going for a walk you can always stay in and snuggle up by the wood burning stove and enjoy the views with a warm drink in your hand!
