House in quiet village, close to Helford River, 4 Bedrooms 3 Bathrooms Sleeps 8
Unusually for a holiday let, it has full central heating and an open log fire and it is therefore ideal for breaks throughout the year. Meadowbank offers a rare and peaceful haven overlooking the ancient village church. The south facing terrace and garden offers a sunny and relaxing addition to the house. The thatched village pub is a short distance down the hill and is well worth a visit, for such an old building it is ironically named 'The New Inn'. Changeover day is normally a Friday but this is more flexible at quieter times of the year.

A wonderful week in a cosy home from home. We had a great time, visited a lot of places and relaxed in a superb home with ample facilities and extremely comfy furnishings.
The house was fantastic. It was spacious and so well equipped. Thoughtfully presented and in a delightfully quiet spot, close to countryside walks. We found the property to be well located, for the different places we wished to visit and will definitely be back.
We were delighted by the spaciousness of Meadowbank & the complimentary treats left in a basket for us including delicious flapjack.⁹
The beds were very comfortable & thank you for the games & books available for are use. A washing line would have saved a bit of use of tumble dryer.
We were so near to Helford & enjoyed days at Kynance Cove, Porthleven & Paradise Park. Can recommend local pub where we had a nice meal.
A enjoyable get away in a very comfortable home to which we hope to return.
We loved our stay in Manaccan. The bungalow is well appointed, very clean and has all the equipment needed for a relaxing holiday. The beds are very comfortable and the garden is private, lovely for a quiet glass of wine in the evening. We loved how peaceful the countryside was and enjoyed our evening walks. It’s located close to Helston a large town (20min car trip for groceries etc) and there is a lovely pub in Helford a short walk away, sadly didn’t get a chance to visit the pub in Manaccan village. Lots of National Trust gardens located very near. Also recommend the Fish and Chips van on Tuesdays! Fantastic property, very glad we chose it!
Such a lovely cottage. Very clean and well equipped with everything we needed. Great location for many days put. It was lovely to have so many bathrooms/shower rooms as there were 6 of us and so no need to queue! The bedrooms are a very generous size and the sofa in the attic room provided a good space for the kids to have time to themselves. Francis was very prompt replying to any messages sent. We look forward to staying again.
Had a great stay at a very comfortable property, really good standard of property with all that need for a relaxing stay. The village is very small with limited facilities but not very far from civilisation. We loved the distance as it meant we could escape the busy areas of Cornwall and enjoy the coast and fantastic walks. St Anthonys ( 10 mins by car or 1 hour walk) is great. Really enjoyed our stay and would happily go again.
So nice to arrive to a welcome basket in the kitchen, fresh flowers on the window sills and all clean after a long journey. Lovely property, excellent condition & peaceful location. We really enjoyed our stay.
Lovely cottage Meadowbank to stay in Manaccan deep in the heart of Cornwall lovely community run pub with restaurant friendly & helpful lots to see & do but most places a little drive as you’d expect in Cornwall owner Francis Carne could not do enough to make us welcome and a welcome pack was much appreciated
We really enjoyed our stay here and the cottage was very comfortable and well-equipped and in a lovely rural location with beautiful walks on the local creeks that you can take straight from the door. Francis was a great host who really seemed to have thought of everything. Cottage had everything we needed and there was useful info about restaurants and shops. Might be worth getting some info for the Trelowarren estate as we only discovered it was open to the public when we were about to leave. There were a couple of minor maintenance problems, not surprising since the property must have been empty a while, and he sorted them out very efficiently. My only criticism is I would have liked a lighter duvet for the double bed, but that may be just me as a woman of a certain age, the weather was not that hot! Be aware that the cottage is very remote, handy for social distancing but we did do quite a lot of driving. You have to go a fair way on unclassified roads to get anywhere and the ferry to Helford Passage is suspended.
Quiet house very close to footpaths & small villages.
It’s a tardis !

Haven of peace and quiet
It was a delightful fully equipped property and great location for walks and sightseeing, it was handy for golf which is what I was after. Their was four of us staying at the house but their ample room more. The local pub is now serving food at a very reasonable price which is always handy. I look forward to staying there again.
Lovely house, stunning location, can't wait to come back!
The house was larger than we were expecting based on the photos, and there were plenty of places to sit together. All amenities worked well and the beds were very comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped and a nice size for cooking in, and it was a thoughtful touch to leave tea bags and a small bottle of milk for us. The village itself was lovely, and we made use of both the tennis courts and the pub, as well as walking through the woods to Frenchman's Creek. Overall a very enjoyable trip- we will be visiting again soon!

Lovely home in a great location
Another brilliant week spent in Cornwall. This house has everything you need for a family holiday. The village of Manaccan is beautiful, with the bonus of having a great pub, serving great food and drinks. A great base to explore the Lizard and beyond. I only wish we could of stayed longer.

loved it sorry to leave
The house was lovely, felt really homely and was well equipped. I had my mum and 3 grandson's with me aged 4, 6 and nearly 11 they loved the garden and adopted the conservatory as their drawing room.
The village was lovely plenty of walks if that appeals to you, it was lovely and quiet (well except the grandsons). Within the village there was a little restaurant a pub and a chippy van appeared a night through the week.
I have been coming to Cornwall for over 10 years and hadn't spent much time on this peninsula and have to say it was very nice. I would definitely go back to the house and location.
Be prepared for narrow roads and we did plenty of travelling around Cornwall inluding The Eden Project, Minack theatre and pothcurno beach, church cove, Paradise park, Heartlands, The Lost gardens of Heligan and much much more. Cornwall has someone for everyone regardless of age and taste or weather. You can spend as much or little as you want.
Helston was the nearest town maybe 10min drive had plenty of facilities but lots of the little villages had wee shops for general supplies or local produce.
Loved it will always be drawn back to Cornwall. We even had a visitor in the form of a stick insect fair took the boys interest. In fact when it was time to come home all 3 boys wanted to stay and there mum and baby brother move down. So the house, location and Cornwall worked it's magic again.
Thank you Francais

Beautiful holiday home in an ideal location
A family of 6 adults stayed for 1 week in March in this beautiful holiday home. Plenty of space and the gardens were glorious.
A minor hitch on arrival - there was no oil to fuel the heating -which was soon rectified by the owner -and we were very generously reimbursed. We made use of the open fire in the evenings which was lovely.
The weather was lovely for the time of the year and we made the most of it.
The Eden project & Gardens of Heligan were just over an hour away.
Ideally situated for St Ives, Lands End, Falmouth, Truro, Lizard Point and many other places.
Would thoroughly recommend this holiday home.

Delightful tranquality
On arrival there was a tea tray (with a proper teapot!) all laid out for us, which was very welcome, along with biscuits! Little bunches of flowers from the garden had been thoughtfully left in several places in the house . A chilled bottle in the fridge.... all these things made for a most delightful stay. The cottage is in a very quiet location and is spacious and extremely well equipped. The only real downside is the entrance - no sign on the gate so you are not entirely certain that you are at the right place initially, and the driveway is very tight to get into and out of, especially if, like us, you have a long estate car. That aside, it's wonderful - go!!

Perfection in every way
We have stayed here every October half-term for the past three years and every time have found this home wonderful. It has everything you could want, is always immaculately clean and warm. It is truly a five star property in a wonderful location suitable for families and adult couples alike. It is so peaceful yet there is so much to do in the surrounding area.

absolute peace
We return to Meadowbank at least three times during the year and and are always delighted by the accommodation being situated in our favourite area of the Helford river in Cornwall. Our accommodation is immaculately presented and very comfortably furnished - beds are immaculately clean and the kitchen is very spacious with every kitchen aid supplied. Washing machine and dishwasher are very useful kitchen accessories and the warmth of the central heating is always a welcome during our winter month visits. Meadowbank is without doubt a five star holiday self catering establishment.
Visiting family in Manaccan so just used as a base.
Would have been nice if heating had been on when we arrived as it was really cold and damp. We turned heating on then visited family until it warmed up. Housekeeping -
Shower in en-suite really needed a good clean and de moulding. Otherwise property was fine. Parking was on steep slope and quite narrow for reversing onto road.
Myself and two sisters rented the cottage to use as our base while exploring and hiking as much as we could of Cornwall during that time. We had other family coming and going during our stay ranging in age from 2 to 80.
The cottage is very well equipped. The kitchen has everything you need if cooking your own food. We did a lot of cooking as it was just not feasible to eat out that often. The only issue we had with the kitchen, which was addressed with the owner, was the range top. The elements did not work properly. They seem to only have one setting which is HIGH so no matter what you did it was impossible to get them to work at a low heat. Once this was brought to Francis's attention he mentioned an electrician would fix it so hopefully that will take place for future renters.
Having a dish washer( rather old but works) as well as a washer and dryer was fabulous. A small gas BBQ would be a much appreciated addition!
My only other recommendation would be that it would probably suit most renters better if the Main bedroom with the ensuite had a queen bed instead of a double. A double is a bit small for a main bedroom and the other 3 bedrooms have 2 singles in each.
Our favorite part of the house was the sunroom. We used it for all meals at the cottage and to play games and chat in the evening.
The village is lovely and the surrounding villages and Lizard Peninsula are great to explore.
We had a great stay at this property and wonderful Cornish holiday!

About the host
Hosted by Francis Carne
Meadowbank has belonged to the family for many years but has only recently been available for rent. The owner grew up locally and despite having to work 'up-country' has spent almost all his holidays in this special corner of Cornwall. The rest of the family needed no persuasion to love it also. This is their only holiday property and is used frequently giving it a high level of attention and comfort.
