The location of the Nook for us was ideal. We were very close to family. Although small it had every necessary convenience for us. We enjoyed our stay there and found Margaret and Nick both helpful and friendly. We shall definitely be staying there again on our visits to Colchester.
Thoroughly enjoyed this stay. Everything catered for by the owners and cosy / comfortable surroundings. I can highly recommend The Nook and hope to visit again!
Beautiful Property especially the sweet private garden to have a coffee in the morning all you hear are the birds very quiet own private parking this property is really home from home Margaret and Nick have really thought of everything
Exceptionally clean and bright 😊
The Nook was a lovely little accommodation that had everything I needed whilst staying in Colchester for Work. Margaret and Nick were both very helpful and friendly.
The Nook, home from home, we enjoyed our stay very much,
Thank you for a lovely stay at The Nook,
Our hosts Nick and Margaret were lovely, the Nook was clean, comfortable, warm quiet, and it was a great location.
The only thing I would suggest is that, replace the dishwasher with a washing machine. Thank you once again we would definitely like to stay there again
Kind regards
Maryrose
The Nook was exceptionally clean, warm and comfortable.....perfect for the two of us. We loved the location: it was about a 20 minute walk into the centre of Colchester which we enjoyed. However, if you are not so keen on the walk, the buses run regularly from the end of the road. Colchester Castle is definitely worth a visit as is the zoo. Margaret was delightful: helpful, friendly and easy to contact in advance of the trip.
An exquisite property, a true home away from home.
Margaret and Nick have thought of everything you may need on home away from home break. The private little garden with French door access gave the lounge an indoors/outdoor feel. Exceptionally clean, high standards all round. Would highly recommend.

Great place for two
Lovely property. Cosy and nicely furnished. It has everything you need when you are on holiday. Margaret and Nick even left milk, tea, coffee and biscuits which was a nice welcome for us after our journey. Good location for visiting places of interest and easy to get into Colchester town centre. Would definitely stay there again if we are in Colchester. Thank you Margaret and Nick.

Verrrrry small
The Nook is very clean and well appointed. Location is good - just a brisk 20 minute walk into town. Parking was good and it was easy to drive out of town from there.
However it was much smaller than we expected with no dining space, just a fold away table and 4 chairs which was far too big to open frequently. We actually pulled the sofa away from the window and set the table up in there. A small table and 2 chairs would make a better permanent feature there. And the small TV was much easier to watch with the sofa closer to it.
The bathroom is downstairs, off the lounge. It is tiny and we found we had to have the door open to dry ourselves easily. Unfortunately, while we were there, the door wouldn't stay closed but I'm sure that has been rectified.
The bedroom is small but adequatealthough we felt that a built in cupboard would be better than vintage suitcases for storage.

Neat and Tidy Bolthole, in great Location
This was a nice tidy, smartly decorated annexe property. The friendly owners were very welcoming, and milk and biscuits were provided upon arrival. It was a lovely looking property, but there was a little room for improvement. I left my suggestions for improvement with the owners in their guest book, and would hope that they note them to improve their business and make their cottage more appealing for future guests. If they made the improvements I suggested, it would definitely be a place that I could return to.

A Perfect Holiday Base!
The perfect holiday home whether exploring the area, or like us in town to visit family and friends. The owner Margaret made us very welcome and it was reassuring to have her living close by. The Nook has a great location in a quiet and safe residential street. Located not far from the town centre and near the local bus route. The Nook is beautifully presented, warm, clean and comfortable with the benefit of Wi-fi and TV. We visited during a particularly cold spell in April but the house was warm. The patio garden would be lovely if visiting in the summer months. We would not hesitate to recommend the Nook and hope to visit again in the future.

Lovely cottage just right for a short or long stay
Beautifully appointed and equipped with a nice courtyard garden. Excellent standard all the times I have stayed here - cosy, comfortable in winter or summer and Margaret takes a real pride in making my stays great.
Margaret was extremely helpful when we arrived. She detailed the property and showed us everything. We were very comfortable. It was very clean and offered everything we needed!

About the host
Hosted by Margaret Binns
I have lived in Essex all my life and in Colchester with my family for just over 2 years.
We have recently refurbished The Nook and are very proud of the results and our first guests said "We would like to live here!"
Why they chose this property
We love living in Colchester, having a vibrant, bustling town on our doorstep, yet our neighbourhood is peaceful and quiet.
We have good access to local countryside such as Mersea Island and Dedham. Good road links to go further field and London is 45 minutes away.
