La Porta Rossa is located at the heart of Bologna, a 5-minute walk from Piazza Maggiore, in a quiet street, in one of the most unspoiled areas of the center of Bologna. The apartment is in the context of a renovated and elegant building and is elegantly furnished and equipped with all the comfort, specifically made and finished in order to be destined to be temporary rented. Two bedrooms and two bathrooms, kitchen, dining room, large living room with sofa bed all for you exclusively. Oriented toward the inside part of the building is completely quiet and peaceful. It also has a large terrace with dining table. Equipped with air conditioning, very fast wi-fi and complete with washing machine and dryer. In the living room there is a large screen television. The building has an elevator heading down to the floor of the parking space. You can park in the garage at the daily price of 25 EUR plus city tax of access to the LTZ of 6 euro for entry. From the station, the apartment is a 15 minute walk, otherwise you can take one of the many buses that travel along the nearby Independence and Marconi streets. From the airport we suggest to take a taxi which cost does not usually exceed 25 euro. The presence of a garage allows easy access by car.

The Red Door

Giuseppina & Marco are great hosts, met us at the apartment and made sure that we had everything they needed. They also organised a taxi/van to collect us from the airport and to return again at the end of our stay - this included a baby seat for our baby! They also helped with our itineray visiting sights of interest and a food tour and a cookery class. Plus Bologna is the best-kept secret for an Italian holiday, so much to do and such friendly people. Very relaxing. The Red Door is in a great location and the access to the patio area was a great bonus. OK overlooked on all sides - but this is genuine city living and amazingly quiet. Look no further book this place the hospitality industry could learn much from this experience!

Short break in Bologna

What a perfect property, fantastic location, lovely patio & the property is immaculate. The hosts Guiseppina & Marco could not have been nicer or more helpful with all aspects of our visit. They provided a huge range of information on museums, attractions, art galleries, restaurants & transport. They also made reservations for us at a local Trattoria & arranged private transfer to the airport.

Giuseppina, the host, was so welcoming and helpful, personalising information and making bookings and reservations for us. Porta Rossa is centrally located so everything is within walking distance. The jewel in the crown is the spacious terrace with it’s abundance of succulent plants. A lovely area to relax in with a glass of local wine

Lovely holiday apartment

We really enjoyed this apartment. It was just as advertised. Giusy was excellent to deal with. The apartment is very well equipped in a quiet but central location. The beds are very comfortable and everything worked very well. There is a large terrace. We will visit again.

Excellent apartment in a great location

Friendly host met us on arrival and gave clear explanations on the apartment, local attractions and restaurants etc. Very clean, comfortable beds, good shower/bath and heating (essential in February!). Location excellent - quiet area, yet very close to main areas and the train station. We made the right choice.

Fantastic apartment in the historic centre

This was without doubt one of the best apartments we have stayed in. We were visiting Bologna for New Year with friends, so two mature couples, and the apartment was just perfect for us. Not just the location, a few minutes walk from Piazza Maggiore and fifteen minutes walk from the central train station, but the layout with two bathrooms, two double bedrooms, a very well equipped kitchen and a big comfortable lounge with enough soft seating for four of us to relax after a day sightseeing. So many places don't provide enough seating for the number of guests. There is a large sheltered terrace which would be a big bonus in summer. We had great weather and sat out with coffee in January. The apartment was really well thought out with things that made our stay easier: lots of tea and filter coffee, two pizzas in the freezer, a bottle of Prosecco in the fridge, loads of toiletries in the bathroom, hair straighteners and tongs as well as the usual hairdryer, coat hooks and shoe rack by the door, again something many places overlook, washing powder and fabric conditioner alongside the washer and drier and all the cleaning and washing up equipment you could need. The beds were really comfortable with quality bedding and it was surprisingly quiet despite being in the centre of the old town. Guiseppina and Marco were great hosts keeping in touch and making sure everything was perfect for us. They went above and beyond expectations in finding and making a restaurant reservation for New Years Eve which turned out to be the gastronomical highlight of our stay in Bologna. We would definitely stay here again if we return and highly recommend the Red Door. Thank you Giusy and Marco. Happy New Year.

Fabulous Property in the centre of Bologna

We, with a couple of friends, stayed at The Red Door apartment in the centre of Bologna for ten days. The owners, Giuseppina and Marco are so helpful, both before our arrival and when we were guests. Giusy met us when we arrived and showed us around. The apartment is beautifully furnished and comprises of two large bedrooms, two bathrooms (one of which is en suite), a well equipped kitchen with large dining table. There is a large sofa and chair in the seating area with a television. Air-conditioning is in all rooms, also electric window shutters at all windows. Outside is a large terrace with pot plants, table and chairs with a parasol, a great place to eat breakfast, lunch or dinner if you fancy cooking. There is a Co-op nearby which is well stocked. As other contributors have already said, the apartment is within five minutes of Piazza Maggiore and shopping areas. Restaurants are also nearby. If you, like us, hire a car, it is most convenient to be able to park below the apartment. The payment to Giusy is 25euros per day plus a one off city permit payment of 30euros. We would not hesitate to recommend The Red Door apartment.

Impressive !

More important than the pictures - that truly correspond to reality - is what is hidden behind the mirror ! To begin with, the contact with the owner is fluent and most reliable : Giuseppina will answer your questions by email within a few hours and she's eager to help in any way for any purpose at any time : from how to get tickets to enter the Limited Traffic Zone with you car to, on the spot, if you need more of what you can find into the cupboards. Just a few examples : we found different types of coffee and tea, spices, sugar, fresh water, detergent caps for the dishwasher, shampoo, shower products, demakeup cotton balls, soap, sponges and towels of all kind... You just feel at home as soon as you arrive. When we did, we were welcomed and the apartment was just blinking. The temperature was a most appreciated 21 degrees as the airconditioning had specifically been turned on a few hours before. That was just perfect, Mima ! As for the location, literally everything is at walking distance : there's a Coop supermarket a few hundred meters away and you barely need to walk more than 10 minutes to reach the farthest site to visit in the town center. The environment is calm as the apartment is situated in the ZTL and you can enjoy the large private terrace any time. You will also find a precise list of what to visit in and out of Bologna as well as different maps and if you don't know how to choose between the numerous places to eat, you can blindly follow the "Where to eat" list, made up with good restaurants according to tastes and budget. You even have the telephone numbers if you want to reserve a table. We chose a different one every evening and they all served excellent food for a really affordable price. Another thing that we appreciated is the free high speed wireless Internet connection. We've been touring through Italy for quite a few years now. This apartment, together with the service that goes with it, definitely belongs to the top ! Many thanks !

Very spacious and well equipped in great area

The apartment is very spacious, very well equipped and very comfortable. We particularly enjoyed breakfast on the large balcony. Great position that is close to shops and restaurants but quite. The best food market is only 100M's away. But best of all are the two great hosts. Guisy, is very charming, (Warning she talks a lot :-) ), then there is Saint Marco (he listens to Guisy talk :-) ). Nothing was too much trouble for Guisy and Marco, they even arranged all our evening meals in great local restaurant.

3 days in Bologna en route to Dolomites

Perfect location and most gracious host made our stay fabulous. The host provided an extensive list of attractions, restaurants, cafes, markets, museums, and gelato shops. A food market where locals shop is only steps away. There is also a pharmacy, and dry cleaners. The main piazza is very close. We would love to come back again.

The best place to stay in Bologna

If I could give Giuseppina one million stars, I would. The place itself was stunning. Beautiful art she has collected fills the apartment, making for a gorgeous place to return to after a long day. The apartment was incredibly clean and all amenities worked perfectly. The location was stunning, with beautiful frescos from olden days right outside the door. The recommendations she provided for food and activities were fantastic. Her kindness was immense, she has such a warm and welcoming energy. When we made the mistake of accidentally locking ourself out of the apartment, she solved the problem for us quickly and we were able to get back in without a hitch. If you’re looking for somewhere to stay in Bologna, definitely let it be here. This was the most positive stays my family has ever had. Thank you for everything Giuseppina, it was truly spectacular.

The best in Bologna!

We had a wonderful stay at Giuseppe and Marco’s apartment in Bologna. They were great hosts… communicative, responsive, and helpful. Very lovely people! The apartment was spacious and well equipped. We loved the furnishings and design. The outdoor patio was also very nice. It was also really convenient that they had parking available in the building, since we had a car. We hope to come back and stay here again in the future.

Wonderful hosts and apartment!

Giuseppina and Marco were wonderful hosts! They were super communicative within days of our check in. Sent us lots of useful information in advance and when we arrived showed us all around the apartment. Giuseppina also offered and made several restaurant reservations and did not steer us wrong. She is the Italian grandmother we all want! The location is perfect near the city center but on a quiet street so you can sleep/relax peacefully! All the stars to Giuseppina and Marco for their wonderful hospitality!
