Designed with families in mind, the house is also great for small groups. Many guest considerations have been taken into account when setting up this property - comfy beds, beautiful bed linen, essentials (shampoo, shower gel, tea, coffee), fast WiFi, and large TV with Netflix.

The property has been renovated and furnished to a very high standard by the owners, providing a superb holiday home comprising the following: Open plan Lounge, Dining and Kitchen, small utility room on the ground floor, three bedrooms (an en-suite) and a bathroom on the upper floors.

The cosy lounge has a large leather 3 seat sofa and two arm chairs around an electric feature wood burning stove. A large TV is positioned above the stove on the chimney breast which is connected to an Apple TV box that has a Netflix account, for those that wish to chill out in an evening.

The dining area has a large table and six chairs and plenty of room. The fully equipped luxury kitchen with marble worktops includes an Aga electric oven/grill and gas hob. An American style large fridge freezer with filtered water and ice, micro-wave, toaster and dishwasher.

Off the kitchen there is a small utility room that has a washer dryer, utility sink and a useful downstairs toilet. Parking is on street at the front of the property with a permit.

The rear yard is a beautiful place to sit on a warm evening. A perfect spot for a morning coffee alfresco or an evening glass of wine.

The main bedroom has a king size iron bed, with plenty of wardrobes and an en-suite shower room with basin and wc. The rear bedroom has a comfy double bed, single wardrobe and a chest of drawers. Loft / third bedroom has two single beds, (please note that upon request these can be made up to form a king size bed - although guests should be aware that this room does have head height restrictions being within the roof space. There is a travel cot available for use.

The main bathroom consists of a large bath with overhead shower, wc, bidet and basin.

Modern, Clean and in the Centre of York

Had a wonderful stay at fairfax street and could not recommend this property enough. It was clean, modern and only a 10 minute walk into the centre so extremely convenient. All of the simple things had been thought of like plenty of plates/cutlery, condiments, extension leads, plugs in the right place. To top it off coffee/tea, biscuits and wine provided! It was really helpful to have on street parking. Plenty of spaces however heads up that it is a bit more of a tight squeeze getting out of spaces so choose your space wisely! The only extra touches that would be nice would be a dressing table in the master beadroom and extra bedside table in the attic room. That would just be being very picky though. Thankyou so much for a lovely stay. Also thanks for cleaning so quickly meaning we could check in early. It really meant we could make more of our first day. I would also highly recommend the tomahawk restaurant for anyone that likes steak!

Fantastic weekend away

Fantastic property in a great location. 3 couples away for a Christmas weekend and just loved staying at 48 Fairfax. Will return in the future. York is such a great place for a short break.

A Hidden Treasure in York

This house is superb! From the start, it was clean, spacious and the hosts had provided the essentials to start us off such as bread, milk and a bottle of Pinot Grigio! The location was perfect, less than a 10 minute walk into the heart of York and it was a privilege to stay in their gorgeous house! We will definitely think about staying again next year!

Lovely position

Lovely position, close to station but also only a short walk to most of main attractions so ideal if you don't have a car. Having said that you can park right outside on the road and parking permits were provided. The city wall is only a one minute walk at the end of the road and a great view whilst walking. Inside the home is clean and very comfortable. We were very unlucky with the unusually cold and wet June weather so the electric stove in the living area was most welcome. Another plus was having a downstairs loo in addition to the ensuite and family bathroom. Everything worked efficiently. Would definitely recommend and would love to stay here again and discover more of York. Oh, and finally, would add how peaceful the neighbourhood is.

Great for a city break

Lovely break good location nice and quiet

Stayed 5 nights Thankfully the weather was kind as although property is close to City Centre it would have been a trek in wet weather approx 15 mins walk. Owners where very obliging and assisted when needed. Some very nice little touches around the house to make you feel welcome on arrival a nice homely place to stay. However York City Centre was very dirty lots of litter and bin bags bottles glasses everyday not moved - It was busy but expected it to be as clean as last New Year two years ago. Get a grip York Council 5 of us commented it was grubby if you have no money get the Pubs and shops to tidy outside of their premises ( So many Foreign Tourist ) you are letting England down.

Great location, comfortble and well furnished

This house was perfect for our party of 6. The large living/dining/kitchen on the main floor was perfect for socializing and relaxing. The kitchen is very well equipped and the supply of groceries to get us going was most welcome. The bedrooms are well deocorated and comfortable and all the bathrooms have been updated to a high standard. The house is within a short walk of the station and the city centre. It was a pleasure to stay here.

Perfect home from home in fantastic location!

Just got home from our long weekend in York. Recieved a very warm welcome on arrival from the owner of the property who showed me everything we needed to know, and more. Very clean, beautifully kept with tasteful decor throughout. Everything provided that we could possibly need (including a bottle of vino in the fridge)! Only problem was that I had to give the downstairs a good mop shortly after arriving, as our baby was crawling around and getting a little grubby, but everything was there and easy to use. Spent the majority of our stay talking about how much we would love to live there! Would definitely stay again!

Beautifully renovated, personal service

This townhouse has been beautifully renovated and was very tidy and welcoming. The owner met us when we arrived to give us keys and advice, which was much appreciated. All the top attractions of York are a short walk over one of three bridges across the river. We stayed in the winter when it was -2C outside, but it was lovely and warm inside. Highly recommended.

A lovely place

Excellent house when visiting York

We stayed as a family of 5 adults, and the layout was ideal - on the ground floor the space was great for socialising with open plan lounge, diner and kitchen, leading to outside space. There is an added bonus of a downstairs toilet. The outside space is compact but catches the sun very nicely during the day, with space for their table and four chairs, and for the dogs to enjoy too. There are then two floors, one with two bedrooms and the main bathroom, with the main bedroom having a lovely ensuite. The second floor has a sloping ceiling, our son is 6ft 2, and just managed - the bed can be made into a kingsize but being tall the headroom is restricted, but manageable. Beds are very comfy. Everywhere clean and well equipped. Location is great, quiet neighbourhood, with amenities close and a lovely street nearby with wine bars, artisan shops and breakfast eateries, in addition to York being a 10 minute walk including a beautiful walk by the river. Overall an excellent place to stay, with great hosts.

Great location nice place

We met the grandparents here. They drove but we did it by train. You could easily do York without a car if you stayed here. We walked everywhere including from the train station. I liked how close it was to the wall but it was a quiet location.

Family Easter break

Fantastic! The location was brilliant, the house is delightful with plenty of room for all. Lovely little touches by host, like fresh milk, tea, coffee and bottle of fizz. Such a little gem I have recommended to friends already. Stays York were also extremely helpful and really impressed by the curtesy call the day before our trip.

A fabulous spot!

I can't imaging a better spot to be in York. A short walk to everything while in a very quiet neighbourhood on a cute little street. The flat was modern and had excellent features and a lovely kitchen. Six of us were comfortable. Having 3 bathrooms was great. The third floor bedroom had very creaky floors over the main bedroom. I would definitely rent this flat again. We all loved it!

Comfort and joy!

The property was better than expected for location and quality. Everything was clean, organised and furnished to high standards with thoughtful amenities provided, even a hairdryer in each room! Quiet area and neighbours. We had a lovely stay, ate at local cafes and went on long wintery walks through historic York.
