It's spring 2025 in Dumenza with its beautiful mountains & lakes and summer is on its way.

Our guests have described it as a very nice holiday apartment with a large terrace in a quiet location in a friendly little village above Luino with many excursion possibilities on both sides of the border, highly recommended! This is a well furnished apartment in a great location in Dumenza.

Soggiorno piacevolissimo

Very clean, quiet location, well placed

Adriana was very helpful (housekeeper) when we arrived. The apartment was very clean and although small, very well equipped. The location is quiet and if the weather is nice and sunny (though not while we were there), there is a good sized veranda to sip wine. The Veranda gets sun only in the late afternoon. 2 mins walk to a supermarket which was also quite well stocked with essentials so fantastic for that just arrived shop. The route down the mountain to Luino was like doing the Monte Carlo Ralley one way but our sat nav also took us on a more sedate route with less bends and turns. There is a Carrefour in Luino for the major shop (only 10 mins away from the apartment). We tried to visit the Chocolate factory in Caslano (CH) but were told only open May to September. We then visited the small 'zoo' nearby which was quite a disappointment. High admission fee for an extremely small zoo with only monkeys, ducks, turtles, birds, guinnea pigs and one lion and his lioness. It took us all of 30 mins to do the rounds, feed the animals and then leave. Unfortunately, the majority of our stay was wet and dull but I would imagine on a nice sunny day, walking along the front of Lago Maggiore would be lovely. 9 out of 10 for the accommodation though (apart from the upstairs neighbour who liked to leave at 7am and slam the heavy front door as hard as possible it would seem, making getting a holiday lie in impossible!!).

Beautiful Location on the border of Italy and Switzerland

The property is small, clean and compact but large enough to squeeze in 2 adults and 2 teenage girls. The balcony is large and west facing, so benefits from shade in the morning and the warm afternoon sunshine. Many beautiful lakeside towns are within easy travelling distance and Milan park and ride allows a full day out in the city without the hassle of city driving or parking. We visited Lugano, Locarno Maccagno, Luino, Milan and Laveno. We enjoyed the scenery everywhere but nothing surpassed the spectacular views from the cable-car descent in Laveno -an adrenaline experience not to be missed! Thank you for a fantastic and very memorable holiday. Mears family from Wales - August 2017

Bella mountain retreat

We stayed for a week from 6-13 September 16. First impression was how clean and fresh smelling the apartment was, many thanks to Adriana. During our stay we visited some of the recommended places, including Bellinzona and Maccagno. We ate at the restaurant in the village, which was good, but also walked towards Agna to find the restaurant Smeraldo. It is about 1km away and can be accessed on foot, with care. Lunch was delicious. A few basic Italian words are helpful as this is in the heart of rural Italy, which suited us perfectly. We hope to return again for another trip.

Ideal location for exploring Maggiore and the Italian/Swiss pre-Alps

Small but perfectly pleasant apartment ("Bijou"?) in good location in the hills close to the Swiss border. Ideal for exploring the less touristy parts of Lake Maggiore, the pre-Alps (such as Monte Lema and Monte Tamaro), or the Swiss canton of Ticino. Lugano is about a half-an-hour drive. Luino, five minutes away, has all the amenities you could want, including a 24-hour Carrefour and large Coop. There is a small supermarket a short walk from the flat for anything you forgot. The apartment is small, but big enough for us (mum, dad, and teenage son). Very nice to have alfresco evening meal on the terrace. The bathroom is clean and neat, and the kitchen has the basics. There's TV but no internet, but then you probably came on holiday to get away from all that :-)

Nice apartment, quiet zone, excellent holidays.

Nicely decorated apartment with all facilities within. Clean house in a quiet zone (with supermarket and pharmacy close by) and with a nice terrace. We could take our dog. Close to main cities and ideal for a family holiday. Owner was trustworthy and provided local tourist information. Everything went just as expected. Places visited: Dumenza, Luino, Maccagno, Pino Sulla Sponda..., Cannobio, Laveno, Cerro, Lugano and Maroggia. We might just come back...

Amazing

We had a wonderful time in your apartment. The area was so beautiful and the food was amazing. We visited the market which was massive and we also took a boat ride across the river and hired a speed boat on the river. We have already recommended your properties to our friends and I hope to visit some of your other properties in the future.

Great apartment!

" We had a wonderful time, everything went well! The apartment was great, we have only good things to say about it. We even became good friends with the neighbors! :-) The location was excellent, the weather was amazing, and Adriana (the housekeeper) was very helpful. We liked the big terrace. Our daughters ( aged 3 and 1) could run around and play, and we could have our meals outside. The flat was the right size for us, nicely decorated and well-kept. Adriana does a very good job. We also liked the mountains, the weather, the quiet but friendly village. Also, it is very easy to get to Luino and other towns nearby. We went to Luino, Cannobio, Lugano, Locarno,Laveno,Maccagno,Agra...and even some smaller villages. No doubt we would recommend this property to a friend or relative. We are already dreaming about our next holiday, hopefully Casa Luino will be available! Thank you so much for all your help!"

" Another enjoyable week at Dumenza

" The apartment was very well equipped, with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. Lots of storage space in the bedroom; large, comfortable bed and pretty living area with good kitchen section. The area had a range of activities available, either on the lake or going into Switzerland. Luino has done a lot of work on their lake-side area and it's now a pleasant place for a stroll and a drink. We went to Luino market on Wednesday morning, it seems to be bigger than ever so we had an enjoyable browse. We visited Locarno and Lugano and enjoyed both visits. Locarno is smaller and more manageable to get around, we found access by road very quick and easy. It was an Italian Bank Holiday when we visited Lugano so it was very hectic, as you'd expect really. We went to Milan for the day by train from Luino and found this a quick and practical way of getting there. We bought a day rover for E15 each which covered our return fares and the metro in Milan so we felt that was very good value and much easier than trying to find parking. One of the prettiest places we went was in San Nazzaro, a camellia/ magnolia/azalea garden and nursery. It's in a lovely setting and in late April many of the plants were in flower so it was a good place to visit. Yes we would recommend this property to a friend or relative and have done already. This was our 3rd visit to Casa Luini and we're still finding new places to visit or just enjoying favourites, like Villa Taranto. ""

Clean, comfortable,friendly welcome

When we arrived in the holiday home in Dumenza we found it very clean and comfortable. There was a very friendly welcome from the lady with the key. We live in France so the Italian lakes are very accessible for us. We did not have much time while we were there so we took boat across the lake from the town of Luino. The time we stayed was ideal as nothing was overcrowded. We would very much like to stay again soon, other commitments permitting. The amenities in Dumenza were suitable for us.

Plenty to do on a beautiful holiday

We arrived at the apartment in Dumenza and found it very comfortable and well furnished. We made use of all the information given to is by the owner, which meant there was always somewhere new to visit. We found the lady who cleaned the flat and gave us the keys very helpful.    There was plenty for us to see and do in the area from boat trips on the lake to mountain walks.    We were very please the way the apartment opened onto the terrace with easy acess for al fresco dining.  The building is close to all facilities in the village, including supermarket, post office and bar/restaurant.

Sad to leqve such a lovely place

It was sad leaving this holiday accommodation in the Italian Lakes. We had a very friendly reception from the housekeeper who showed us everything we needed to know. We loved the terrace and its view and we liked sitting there in the afternoon, with a cup of tea and a book in the late autumn sun. We got most of our main shopping from the Billa supermarket in Luino, but the nearby one also had most of what we needed, including milk and freshly baked bread. We would certainly want to return in the summer, but weather was fine all the time we were there. We found plenty of information on places to visit in the flat, having been sent lots of information by the owners. We had a wonderful afternoon at Caslano on Lake Lugano, which is just a few minutes' drive away. There is a 50 minute walk around Monte Caslano. It actually took us longer, including a stop for a coffee and a beer. On our final day we drove to Porto Valtravaglia with its beautiful views across the lake. We had our lunch at the restaurant of Montesole, directly overlooking the lake. This something we highly recommend. We find the lakes and mountains in the area quite magical. It was great to be there as the leaves were turning yellow.

An outstanding holiday in Dumenza

We enjoyed an outstanding holiday at the holiday home. Dumenza is a lovely village. We especially enjoyed the wonderful views. The location was very convenient to everything we needed. The property is a modern, comfortable, tasteful furnished, bright and uncluttered apartment. We can say to anyone thinking of booking that we felt very comfortable. All the facilities were complete. On arrival we received a very warm reception and we were given plenty of ideas for things to do. Next we come back here we will book more time. We stayed her before going to Austria.

Beautiful Spring Holiday

This self catering suited our needs perfectly. We were happy with the location and it corresponded with the description given. We were given comprehensive information in advance, and some helpful tips for our trips. Loved the patio.   There is no shortage of things to do in Lake Maggiore, and we thought that it looked beautiful in the spring.  We even bought some clothes in the market.   We have recommended to our families and will definitely go back!

Well situated in a charming village

We visited in the New Year becuase we have reletives in the ares an this was much better value than any hotels. We found the property very warm an comfortable. It was lovely to see the Italian Lakes in the winter as we are used to going in summer. In the winter the area has its own beauty. When we arrive the flat was already lovely and warm and we felt at home. We thought that apartment itself was wonderful and it was in a superb location, a very short walk to the supermarket.
