About this property

Cosy Cotswold - The Snug - cottage in the centre of Burford

The lovely town of Burford occupies a position on the meandering River Windrush. Burford is built on a fairly steep hill, and the view from the top of the hill looking down the High Street to the river is one of the classic panoramas of the Cotswolds. A lovely 4-arched medieval bridge, widened in the 18th century, crosses the Windrush, and though Burford itself does not occupy the northern bank, a walk across the bridge is rewarded by wonderful views across watermeadows to the spire of St. John the Baptist parish church.
152 The Hill has been completed renovated and now offers 5 individual holiday homes, The Snug is one of them, all five properties can be all be rented if you would like, family Christmas, special occasions, the whole property will sleep up to 23, but you will all have your individual space, please see 8379754, 8379752, 6977567, 8379755 and please contact us for details.
The Snug is a one bedroom cottage, with one bathroom with a large shower, it can sleep up to 2 people, the bedroom has its own clean style, with one double bed, large open plan living, kitchen, dining area and a sitting room with TV, a snug, cosy place for two.

A communal garden can be found at the back of the property, it is lawned and is available to all guests that are staying at 152 The Hill. When you step outside the property, you are metres away from a newsagent, a butcher, a deli, a chemist, restaurants, pubs, a little further down is the Co-op shop. It is a brilliant place to stay as a base to explore the Cotswolds, with many places to visit.

Bibury - 10 minutes, the famous Arlington Row and Bibury trout farm
Bourton-on-the-Water 15 minutes,- regularly voted one of the prettiest village in England, Birdland Park and Gardens and The Model Village
Oxford 30 minutes – what can we say – full of history, Universities, beautiful buildings, museums, the Ashmolean, Pitt Rivers and many others, plus of course theatres.
Upper and Lower Slaughter 20 Minutes – ‘a wander alongside the stream seems like a privilege.’
Stow on the Wold 25 minutes - At one end stands the ancient cross, and at the other the town stocks, shaded between an old elm tree.
Broadway 35 minutes - the village also has an interesting artistic heritage which includes some well known artists, writers, and performing artists such as William Morris, John Singer Sargent, Francis D Millet, J.M. Barrie and Mary Anderson.
Stratford-upon-Avon 45 minutes – the home of Shakespeare and theatres
Bath – 60 minutes – known for its natural hot springs and 18th-century Georgian architecture. Honey-coloured Bath stone has been used extensively in the town’s architecture, including at Bath Abbey, noted for its fan-vaulting, tower and large stained-glass windows. The museum at the site of the original Roman-era Baths includes The Great Bath, statues and a temple.
Cheltenham 30 minutes – race course, architecture and shopping
Cotswold Wildlife Park – 5 minutes
PARKING

Perfect location and cottage

The Snug was a perfect place for exploring Burford. On the main road so close to everything you need without needing to drive. The Snug had everything we needed to enjoy a relaxing long weekend. Would highly recommend and definitely look to return Thanks

A great stay in a great location

The Snug met all of our needs. Communication with Sally was effective despite some Virbo complications. The bread, wine and cakes were a welcoming feature. The unit was clean and very well equiped. The location in Burford was excellent and it was a great base to explore the Cotswalds. I would recommend it to friends. The bathroom however requires some attention. The door scrapes on the floor when opening/closing, there is mould in the shower, toilet flush is problematic, water leaks from the shower base, exhaust vent full of lint and many marks on the wall. Not withstanding we enjoyed our stay. comprehensively

Wonderful weekender

I went with my dog for a few days. It was wonderful to be in Burford again, beautiful town, I found some lovely walks. Accommodation was perfect, tucked away from the high street it was really quiet. I would definitely recommend.

The Snug - Burford

The Snug is a welcoming, comfortable and convenient place to stay in a quiet location just seconds away from restaurants, coffee shops and pubs. We would book again in the future and recommend to others. The owner goes the extra mile and provided bread, milk, cakes and a bottle of fizz !

Everything you need for a few days away

Stayed for three nights over the weekend, we have visited burford before, it has lots of shops, cafes and pubs so everything you need on your door step. We stayed in the Snug which was a nice little place to stay for a few days away, had everything you need, welcome gifts a lovely added touch. Spacious bathroom/living area. I know this jsnt the hosts fault but it was rather noisy early in the morning with people talking loudly/children crying. Parking was also a big issue for us and really took over our stay as we were worried if we left if we would get a space when we got back from a day out, which we never did and would have to keep driving round and moving the car till we got a space outside the property and for this reason we sadly won’t return. I know its also a snug but we also found the bed small so if your slightly above average sizing it a tight squeeze. Check in was smooth and hosts helpful overall lovely but sadly the parking was a major issue for us.

Property just as expected, all one would need for a short stay. Shops, pubs and restaurants in abundance to suit all tastes. Lots to do in the area and close to several National Trust properties. Perfect getaway for a few days.

Lovely place

Such a lovely cottage and village. We were welcomed by some Prosecco, bread, cake and homemade jam, it was very exciting. Unfortunately, some of the cutlery and crockery still had food on, so we had to wash everything before we used it. The sponge to clean was also dirty. That was our only negative point, everything else was great, and I would recommend this cottage and village.

Fab bolt hole for 2, shame about the bed!

Lovely property & location but the mattress didn't suit my poor back. Would return in a heart beat otherwise. I see only a couple of others have criticized the bed so obviously not an issue for most. The name 'Snug' implies it's pokey but there's plenty of room for 2. Immaculately clean, spacious powerful shower, v comfortable reclining sofa (tried sleeping there one night!). Quiet despite being minutes from pubs & restaurants.

Beautiful quirky cottage, perfect for two

My first time booking through Vrbo so was not sure what to expect but I wasn't disappointed. Found this beautiful cottage called 'The Snug' which was perfect for my partner and I. We had all the information we needed prior to our trip, parking wasn't a problem and directly outside. The Snug was just beautiful, lots of quirky little pieces inside which made it unique and very homely. Perfect size cottage for a couple. Touched by the bottle of prosecco, fresh loaf and homemade cupcakes upon arrival. We spent many evenings (before visiting the lovely pubs of Burford) lounging on the very comfortable reclining sofa. The only thing I would say on the contrary is the bed wasn't overly comfortable but that did not in anyway dampen what was a fantastic place to stay in a beautiful town. Would highly recommend.

Gorgeous cottage, fantastic location

Very well maintained and presented little cottage. Perfect for 2 people when exploring the Cotswolds. Very clean. Got a lovely surprise with a couple of welcome treats. The extra touch made it feel very personal and friendly. The courtyard out the back has a lovely outlook, is really well kept and perfect for an evening drink and relax. Located right on the high street with great cafes and pubs within meters. The cottage was very quiet though, as located back from the road within a private court. Would definitely stay again.

Cosy cottage everything you need

A thoughtful host and well laid out property. Spacious and very clean. Mind your head if over 6ft for going down the steps into the bathroom. This is the only low ceiling. Lovely property for two.

Perfect quick break

This was the second time that we have used this property as it’s idea for visiting family and friends nearby. Burford is an excellent spot for shopping and dining, parking is easy too, out of season. The Snug was spotlessly clean, and had all the facilities needed for short stay catering. Recommended!
