About this property

Cosy, rural retreat, chiminea and bbq. Perfect for couples. Dog-friendly.

Cosy, cottage annexe nestled in the hills in West Cornwall. Little Crofty is located in the middle of beautiful countryside reached via a country track. There are gorgeous walks down to woods, streams and ponds right from the doorstep and the nearest beaches are a 5 min drive away.

5-10 minutes drive from numerous beautiful beaches on the South Coast (Praa Sands, Perranuthnoe, Marazion, Rinsey, Kenneggy cove). Walking, mountain-biking, coarse fishing, wildlife and bird-watching on the doorstep. Enjoy the surf at Praa Sands and Perranuthnoe, admire picturesque St Michaels Mount at Marazion or seek out the secluded beaches at Prussia Cove. See choughs and Peregrines at Rinsey Head and seals at Godrevy. 15-20 minute drive to three miles of Golden Sands at Hayle or take the 15 minute branch line to St Ives and visit the famous Tate Gallery. The property is light and airy, with a pretty patio garden outside to sunbathe or have a barbecue. Your welcome package will contain everyday groceries. There is one bedroom with a double bed. shower room and a cosy lounge. The pleasant nearby village of Goldsithney has two charming pubs, a local store and Post Office.

PLEASE NOTE: LITTLE CROFTY IS LITTLE! :)
1.* There is restricted headroom in the bedroom and shower room. It is just over 6' in the middle but slopes down at either side. The door to the shower room is narrower and lower than a standard door so may not suit everyone. The shower has a seat installed to cater for the restricted headroom.
2. One small-medium dog, max 22kg allowed. Please keep dogs downstairs and off the furnishings. Dogs not to be left alone in the property. Please bring own dog bedding, bowls and old towels (the lanes can be muddy).
3. Little Crofty is approx. third of a mile up an unpaved, bumpy, rural track. It is not suitable for low cars or those with modified/lowered suspension but is fine for 'normal' cars driving very slowly.
5. We live next door and will be available if you need us. ( Little Crofty shares a wall with our house so you may occasionally hear minimal noise from our side.) On your arrival, we will meet and greet you but other than that we will leave you in peace to enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Little Crofty is self-contained and has its own private entrance so there is no need for you to interact with us unless you want to!
6. We have septic tank drainage so please do not put anything other than natural waste and a minimum of toilet paper down the toilet. Please where possible use eco-friendly washing and cleaning products.
7. There is no washing machine at Little Crofty but you are welcome to borrow ours by arrangement.
8. There are many byways and bridleways around Little Crofty but even in summer, these can be wet and muddy. Wellies and/or walking boots are a good idea.
9. Please bring your own towels for the beach.

Little Crofty

An outstanding little retreat with beautiful gardens, set in extremely peaceful surroundings. Both Jenny and Des were lovely and welcoming from booking through to our stay. Highly recommended as an ideal base on the South West coast, allowing easy access to explore Cornwall or just relax in the gardens and take in the local countryside through beautiful walks. Definitely somewhere we would stay again. Perfect!!

A Hidden Gem

We absolutely loved our stay. Great communication with Jenny from the start. She and Des are very thoughtful hosts, who show this from the little touches they do for your stay of little basic essentials there when you arrive (including a treat for our 4 legged friend) to the "information guides" they have compiled of beaches, good eating places, walks and so much more. We could not have asked for a nicer place to stay and we were really sad to leave. I would highly recommend this little gem in "paradise" to anyone who wants a quiet, beautiful location which is a great base to visit a lot of different areas of Cornwall.

Haven of quiet contemplation

Access challenges your first thoughts but once you arrive the Croft gives you the rap around silence to read write or just layback and chill. The accommodation is spotless compact with tv , internet, bbq, loungers even kindling for the chimanea. We were blessed with full sunshine throughout our break have now returned feeling well refreshed from our experience

Little Crofty

A very enjoyable to stay. Set in a very quiet tranquil location, property was very well maintained, small and compact, with everything you will need. Central location makes easy access to all areas. Access road to the property can be challenging, but in all fairness this was highlighted by the owner, in her online description.

Another great stay at Little Crofty

I returned for a second holiday at Little Crofty, as it has such a well-placed location and is great value for money. As before, the cottage was spotlessly clean, with great communication from Jenny, and it was a really enjoyable stay. Perfect location for making the most of the local beaches and many beautiful coastal paths nearby.

Short Break

We did like the cottage very much and our dog loved the woods. What I am afraid to say is that the directions were nil, my satnav took us to the wrong place. I would suggest a post code put on the confirmation form and telephone number. The lane/track that we had to access the property was terrible, pot holes and rocks. I know the owners cannot be responsible for the whole of the lane but a warning would be good! Sorry to give negative comments.

Excellent property off the beaten track

Little Crofty was exactly as advertised, a small cottage furnished to a high standard with everything you would need for a holiday. The location was very quiet and peaceful (with beautiful starry skies!) yet provided easy access driving to all the local attractions. I'll definitely look to return in the future!

quiet location, convenient situation and comfortable property in west Cornwall

As described in the details the upper floor has limited headspace but I did not find this a problem even though I am nearly 5 foot 10 in height. The use of space in this property is a lesson in effective planning and I found it to be lovely and comfortable with a velux to look at the stars at night (very little light pollution) and I loved listening to the woodpecker calling in the trees nearby. The track to access the property is a bit bumpy but a slow calm approach means this is really not a problem, and the significant advantage is the quiet private location.

Quiet little Gem in the Heart of Cornwall

What an amazing stay we had at Little Crofty. It was off the beaten track but central to everything. Great little stay for our cocker spaniel who loved running in the woods right next to the house to explore. Couldn't recommend the owner enough, she was there to greet us when we go there and the little touches like bread, butter, milk and coffee made our stay not to mention the little treat she left our dog. First time in Cornwall and wont be our last.

Lovely little place

Really lovely, cosy, quiet and peaceful place. Owners are very friendly, and have put thought into the layout of the place, and have thought about things. I thoroughly enjoyed it. :-) (only 'warning' I'd give is that it really is off the beaten track - which in some ways is a real bonus!)

Very clean property with everything provided to make a holiday stay truly memorable.

Little Crofty is well located for visitors who appreciate the countryside, and has the benefit of an allocated parking space close by. The property itself is compact, the kitchen being modern and well equipped for even the most enthusiastic and adventurous of cooks The adjacent living space has a small table for dining, a sofa and a modern television and offers a reasonable level of comfort when relaxing. Upstairs is mainly dominated by the low roof, which in common with the other visible woodwork is painted white, giving a clean, fresh appearance. There is a useful space for hanging clothing, plus low level shelving for storage; the double bed features a medium firm mattress and is most comfortable. A large Velux window offers natural light and an opportunity to breathe the country air. Adjacent to the bedroom is the small bathroom which ingeniously features basin, toilet and a reduced height shower. This area is also painted white, continuing the impression of cleanliness and light. Overall, all facilities are good, and I would personally recommend Little Crofty to any couple who wished for a slightly different stay in a peaceful part of the country. Two provisos only- visitors more than six feet tall will need to exercise caution when moving around upstairs due to the limited clearance in places, and the half mile long access lane to the property needs to be negotiated with care. In conclusion, a wonderful base for a holiday, and owners Jenny and Des both amiable and most helpful.

About the host

Host profile image
I grew up in the St Just and Pendeen area of Cornwall, and after studying and working in Bristol came back to Cornwall in 2000 to be nearer my parents and to raise a family. My husband is Bristol born but has fallen in love with Cornwall and everything it has to offer. We have both worked in hospitality and have 20 years experience of letting properties. We take pride in the property and holiday experience we offer.

Why they chose this property

Little Crofty is a magical, idyllic place. The air is clean and the lack of light pollution mean that on a clear night the stars are simply stunning. It is in the middle of the countryside up a long, leafy lane, 5 mins drive from the nearest villages and beaches.

What makes this property unique

Little Crofty is light and cosy, with a sunny patio, perfect for sunbathing or having a barbecue. The 'back field' is perfect for starting a walk or looking for signs of badgers. The surrounding byways and bridleways are ideal for nature-watching, exploring, dog walking and mountain biking. Star-gazing at night is a must!
