About this property

Historical country house near Taormina & the sea. Stunning view of Mt Etna

The spacious sitting/dining room with its ornate fireplace and traditional furnishings lead onto the oval terrace. Pine trees surround the terrace on which there is a working stone font - the ideal setting for an evening aperitif watching the flaming Etna volcano as well as dinner on those balmy evenings. The bedrooms are all simply but comfortably and colourfully decorated with shutters leading out onto the front garden. Alternatively, when the Sicilian sun becomes too overbearing one can cool off in the large pool behind the house. Palm, avocado and olive trees around the pool provide some shade over parts of the terrace where again some stunning views to the sea and the Mount Etna can be appreciated. We believe lovers of Sicily and also those new to the many fascinations of this island will love the opportunity to stay in this traditional classic home within such easy access of so many popular destination. AC only in 3 of 5 bedrooms while there are fans in the common areas of the house.

We had a wonderful time here at the Villa. Valeria was a wonderful host, responsive to queries and always on hand if needed. The property itself was excellent and we loved spending time on the terrace and by the pool. We had a BBQ one evening and it was great sitting in the twilight eating outdoors both there and on the terrace. The rooms were lovely with the upper bedroom having a balcony and the lower rooms onto the front drive. The beach at Giardini Naxos is a 45 minute walk or 10 minute drive away both of which we did. the Best supermarket near by was the Deco, less than 10 minute drive away. it was a great place with which to explore Taormina, Etna and Syracuse, all of which we did. We would love at some point in the future. Highly recommend.

Fabuous villa - we didn't want to leave!

An incredible villa and a hugely helpful host! The villa is even more amazing than it looks on the pictures! Such a beautiful setting - incredibly peaceful and near to the beach and Etna! Amazing view of Etna too. We did not tire of sitting on the many verandas admiring the view. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all of a very high standard and the living area too. Would thoroughly recommend and would love to come back every year!

Lovely property, nicest host

The property is lovely and we really enjoyed the pool. While it is old, it is not run down. Valeria is lovely and a pleasure to deal with. She was responsive and quick to deal with minor issues. The location is wonderful and easy to get to Taormina or Catania or Siracusa or Noto. The terrazzo with views of Etna was great. Well equippedkitchen and modern reno on the bathrooms. Trapatello has all the amenities for buying food etc. Great restaurants within thirty minutes, usually fifteen. Highly recommend. Five bedrooms w large common areas.

charming traditional Sicily experience

We loved our stay here. The house is very traditional which was exactly what we wanted and as described. The terrace in particular was a delightful place to sit in the evenings especially as it was very very hot during our stay. Valeria was very helpful and sorted out small problems with air conditioning etc. We booked the cook on two nights and can't recommend enough - they produced two wonderful meals - well worth it and much better than eating out which was very pricey in August for 9 of us. If I was to suggest one improvement it would be better pillows. Not sure if my family is very fussy but all found them pretty uncomfortable! Lovely location - would have liked to walk more if it hadn't been so hot. Very convenient for beaches and Taormina. Thank you for great holiday!

Gorgeous villa and friendly people

We spent two weeks in this gorgeous villa during the July heat. Although we spent some time visiting Etna, Taormina and the surrounding area, our favourite days were simple enjoying the beauty, peace and tranquillity of the villa. stunning

A beautiful villa with the most amazing views and great swimmming pool

We were a group of family and friends, 7 in total with 4 of the group age 15-19, staying for a week in July. There was plenty of room for us all and the villa was well equipped for what we needed. There are shops and supermarkets quite nearby, but we ate out a lot as well. We booked the cooking service, available if you book with the owner in advance, which was amazing and very tasty (lots of it!). The owner was very helpful through the booking process and during our stay; thank you Valeria (and your mother). The pool is big and very clean with lots of space around it. The terrace was where we ate in the evening, with the most fantastic views of Mt Etna.

A great place for a marvelous holiday

The villa is on a hillside with a secluded garden in a private estate and surrounded by fields and terraces of oranges. The pool area is great and we spent loads of time there. The house is spacious and delightful. Decorated tastefully in a shabby chic way. The bathrooms work but are functional rather than modern and having an evening barbecue on the spacious terrace with Mt Etna as backdrop is stunning. We used the cooking service twice and had good meals. I would definitely recommend this property. We were only 6 adults, if you were 10 it would be fine but the kitchen might be a bit busy and there would be some bathroom sharing but the sitting room and dining area and terrace are huge. As is the pool area. We had a marvelous time

Elegant traditional house, with lovely pool and magnificent view of Mount Etna and the sea.

The house is absolutely beautiful, with high ceilings and grand proportions, elegantly furnished. It is a charming historic country property, with all the quirks that entails, it's not the place if you are looking for 21st century contemporary luxury. We loved it, and would highly recommend it. The house was clean and tidy, the grounds well maintained.. There was plenty of hot water, and the swimming pool was beautiful. It's about a 10/20 minute drive from busy Taormina, so perfect for visiting, but lovely to come back to the peaceful oasis of the villa.

A stunning and characteristic villa

The villa is set in a stunning setting and provides a tranquil and very private space to relax in. Its charming and original features make this a very picturesque home away from home.. The spacious terrace looking towards mount Etna is stunning and was the perfect place to enjoy breakfast and evening meals. The pool area is lovely and we spent many hours sunbathing and having fun in the pool. We had a wonderful time and would warmly recommend it .

Lampedusian dream

We were almost tempted not to write a review, simply to keep this secret to ourselves. Understated Aristocratic charm , perfect setting and stunning views. We have stayed at many villas around the world, but this was the most hypnotic of them all. We will definitely be back...Valeria..thank you, Victor

Rhe Villa is situated in beautiful countryside. The views from the outside terrace are incredible.

We really enjoyed our week and found Valeria very helpful, she rectified a mix up with the bedding immediately and was very professional throughout. The Villa itself is a beautiful old home full of antiques a real taste of Sicily, very comfortable living area with a fabulous terrace. Everything you need is there the pool area is amazing, beautiful gardens, a real countryside feel to the whole thing.

Outstanding!

This property, which oozes old-world charm, has stunning views of Mt. Etna, lots of places to explore and discover antiquities, and an orange grove through which to stroll. Our group of eight spent a fabulous week enjoying the pool, the formal dining room, and the outdoor terrace, perfect for cocktails. We twice used the services of the in-house chef for excellent dinners, although, as is the Sicilian custom, there was way too much food. Virginia and Wayne Jeronimus

Perfect family holiday!

We love visiting the villa and this was our second trip... of hopefully many more to come. The journey through the orange groves and up the hill is magical and our view of Mt. Etna - spectacular. We were a group of 6 but the house has ample rooms to sleep more... if you want to share the tranquility and peaceful ambiance that is. We would very much recommend staying here. See you next year x

Unique Sicilian Experience

We were a family travelling with 3 kids and another family with kids and we found that the villa was perfect for our needs. We wanted a beautiful place to spend 2 weeks with our family and the villa was gorgeous and provided the best place for us to spend some amazing time together: the pool was big enough for everybody, the gorgeous orange and olive tree orchared provided the best place for walks, one of the terraces was built for a family barbeque and the other terrace provided us with an impressive view over Mount Etna as well as a spacious place to enjoy evenings with the family. The house is beautiful, full of a rich history and really elegant. Moreover, the host is very discrete, however close enough to be there whenever we needed her. Also, she is a very pleasant person, with amazing stories, who truly provided us with an amazing experience. Overall, the villa gave us a real feel of a true Sicilian experience, something we will always remember and we already planned to come back and discover more of Sicily's treasures.

Lovely, but aging property

Lovely, but aging property just behind Giardini Naxos. Needs a better system for air-conditioning one room downstairs (the wall unit was broken and a unit brought in required the window to be left ajar). Plumbing in downstairs bathrooms needs to be checked as there was little to no water pressure in either bath/shower. Was a bit surprised at check out to have a discussion over whether we should pay for outdoor chairs (very old) where the fabric tore because we simply sat in them. Plastic silverware was counted to make sure that we had not taken any. Left a bad impression in what was otherwise a nice week.

brought back into the Gattopardi world...

My and my group of friends' stay at this villa was a total delight. It is an autentic ancient aristocratic villa in the midst of a huge land cultivated with citruses and olive trees. The pool is beautiful, confortable, equipped with all one needs, large but elegant, immersed in green and with some very nice views. The villa was my favourite, I kept going up and down it, the architecture is nice and it is elegantly furnished in old classical Italian style, it is vast so that the individauls of a large family or group can still find privacy, their own reading or meditating corners... I loved the terrace too, it was night to sit there in the evening with a shawl and I could see the Etna erupting in the distance... I went jogging on the paths between orange and lemon trees, I was not able to tell the difference as some where still green and had beautiful perfumed flowers...there was also a little hill which reminded me of (and probably was?) those esoteric itineraries that aristocracy used to build in their parks between the 18th and 18th century, or even later? The feeling was to be living in the golden age of the Grand Tour! It was quiet around us, because we were away from the village, but it was not far from the beach nor the town of Taormina by car. We went for an excursion on the Etna, which was another overwelming experience. I am sure I'll be back again, probably with my family to continue exploring and especially to endulge again in the life of a Sicilian pricess of the past! Thank you Valeria and your staff, see you soon!

We hated to leave Villa Pietraperciata!

During our three-week stay, we fell in love with this beautiful place! Our family and friends enjoyed the relaxed elegance of the décor, the cool and dark bedrooms, which are so conducive for sleeping, and the heavenly pool. One of the most enjoyable spots was the spacious terrace. It was great for cocktails, al fresco dining and – THEN – watching Mt. Etna in the distance spew red hot lava! The villa’s location is peaceful, surrounded by orange groves, yet Taormina, Giardini Naxos, and Trapitello are only a short drive away. We had a long enough stay to explore the area, with a private tour on the summit of Mt. Etna, a private wine-tasting tour of the Scilio and Gambino wineries, drives to the towns Mazzaro, Motta Comastra, Castiglione di Sicilia, Santa Maria La Scala, Acireale, Aci Trezza, Aci Castello, the Alcantara Gorge, Savoca, and Randazzo for wonderful restaurant meals, gelato, shopping, hiking, baroque churches, Norman castles, Greek ruins, beautiful vineyards. We particularly enjoyed people-watching at Wunderbar in Taormina, dinner in Taormina at Casa Grugno, Michelin-rated Ristorante Veneziano in Randazzo, and pizzas from Al Feudo in Trapitello. We recommend climbing the hill behind the pool for wonderful views too. And each day the pool was the place to be after our interesting drives! Valerie and her family are lovely, delightful, and always helpful. We would suggest that the list of recommendations at the villa have more information, such as the name and driving directions for the “Qui Conviene” supermercato and the discount supermercato in Trapitello, the closest pharmacy, panificio (bread shop), pasticceria (pastry/coffee shop), and macellaio (butcher). Also some information about places for walks or hikes could be included. We hired sweet Marica to cook and serve dinner five times while we were there, and each meal was spectacularly plentiful and delicious!! Renters should be aware that four of the bedrooms and two of the baths are on the lower level, and that one must walk through a bedroom to reach the stairs. There are two full baths on the main level; the spacious master bedroom has it's own full bath. The other bathroom on the main level has the only stall shower, the others have a tub with a hand-held nozzle. Three of the 5 bedrooms have independent air-conditioning which works very well, the other two have large standing fans. Renters should respect that everything is clean and beautifully maintained.

Everything as advertised.

Just want to say that the villa was beautiful. Very clean, very old and very good views from the patio. We watched mini eruptions of Mt Etna on two nights. The grounds have lots of beautiful flowers making it a pleasure to stroll around. We had three younger people with us so the pool was used on a daily basis. It was clean and very refreshing. Chef Maria was recommended to us by Valeria, she was amazing. We asked her to cook for us on two nights and the food was beyond good. She does not speak English, but we communicated through the wonders of Iphones. We would strongly recommend her. Also on the recommendation of Valeria, was the taxi service of Andrea and his father. There was nine of us staying at the villa and they never disappointed us. To and from the airport and every where else in between, even shopping for food and the great Sicilian wines. Andrea even helped bag the groceries. The only thing that was a little different at the villa was the downstairs bedrooms, you had to go through one to get to your bedroom, but we managed because we were all up early so as not to miss the day. Everyone was more perfect than the day before. We only had one week in Sicily, being there for our son's wedding in Taormina and the Villa Sant Andrea on the beach, so we did not get to see enough of Sicily. If we did return, we would definitely stay at the villa again. Thank you Valeria for everything. Ken, Jessica and family

Perfect villa and perfect location

Oct 12 – 19, 2013. The villa was perfect for three couples traveling together – beautiful home situated on a large olive, lime, and lemon farm, gorgeous pool, incredible gardens, large terrace with a view of Mount Etna, and only a few minutes from Taormina. Breakfast every morning on the terrace was so pleasant with Mount Etna in the distance – Mount Etna erupted a few weeks after we left, so we missed the fireworks. It was a great location to explore the east coast of Sicily – Taormina, Mt Etna, Siracusa, Noto, Piazza Armenia, and Enna . The temperature was in the mid-70s every day, so October was a great time to visit. The hosts were quite accommodating to our needs. We arranged for a chef to cook a dinner at the villa – one of our best meals in Sicily. We watched Chef Maria prepare a menu of eggplant parmesan, sausage and peppers, veal scaloppini, potatoes and salad followed by a spectacular tiramisu. Life doesn’t’ get much better than this. We highly recommend a stay at the villa.

Your Lovely home in Sicily

Valleria, We spent a wonderful week in September at your family home. I can say that I am typically a very picky traveler and only like authentic italian architecture; Your home has a wonderful feel and is filled with authentic family art and furniture which made us feel right at home. The gardens and the pool were very well kept. The pool was the perfect size for morning and evening laps. The olive groves leading to the house offer great privacy. Thanks again for all of your family's help. Best, Marc

Super Royal Villa!

The Villa is one og a kind. It is almost as a small Castle, filled with old paitings of Counts. The Villa is very, very big and very nice decorated. It is very easy to be 2 families. The Villa has a very big terrasse, where we had breakfast and dinner and another terrasse next to the pool area where we had lunch. The poolarea is opposit the house and has great chair and a shade area. The pool is enormous. I can easily recommend this amazing and beautifull Villa. It is by far, the most fantastic place we have ever stayed in. The Villa is situated outside a small town, where you can by fresh bread at the american bakery. Taormina is very close, it takes about 15 min to drive there and you will enjoy the peace and quiet in the Mountains, once you have visited Taormina. We are totally pleased and satisfied with everything.
