About this property

This is a stunning 1st floor apartment in a peaceful village which has the 'wow' factor. Enjoy uninterrupted views over the beautiful Dundrum bay and the Mountains of Mourne - classified as an 'area of outstanding natural beauty'. You would find it difficult to find a more spectacular view anywhere in Northern Ireland. The apartment is south-facing and is bright and sunny all day long. It has a large spacious open plan kitchen, living and dining area and balcony. The superb floor to ceiling corner windows frame the amazing view while you cook, eat or relax! The apartment has wifi and all modern conveniences.

The master bedroom is ensuite with a king size bed and views of the bay (fabulous for enjoying the sunrise), the second has a double bed and the third two single beds. We can accommodate 6 guests in total. We can also provide a travel cot and high chair.

The apartment has solid wood floors, original artwork, high quality beds and furniture and contemporary furnishings - all guaranteed to ensure you have a comfortable stay - but of course the view steals the show! - ever changing throughout the day as the tide ebbs and flows in and out of the bay!

Things to do: Whether you are looking for a relaxing get away from it all holiday or an adventure filled holiday, our apartment offers you a gateway to both. Dundrum offers breathtaking views, historical sites and nature walks, In nearby Newcastle you can enjoy a wide range of outdoor activities including golf, hiking, cycling, fishing, mountain climbing, canoeing etc. Newcastle has a world class golf course (Down Royal), which recently hosted the Walker Cup. The stunning Slieve Donard Hotel has a luxury spa, perfect for a little pampering. Castlewellan has a beautiful castle, lake and gardens - perfect for walks. cycling and canoeing. Within a half day or full day's drive you can enjoy most of the tourist sites of Northern Ireland - Strangford Lough, Antrim Coast, Fermanagh lakes, the city of Belfast, historic towns of Downpatrick and Armagh and beautiful villages such as Hillsborough and Crawfordsburn.

Nothing short of Magnificent!

Spacious, beautifully appointed apartment in the ABSOLUTE BEST aspect to capture the mesmerizing and constantly changing views. Lovely part of the country with much to see and do within an easy drive. Or just stay in and soak up the scenery! Owner, Janet was a pleasure to work with. Top quality accommodations with every detail thoughtfully in place. Highly recommended!

Birthday Celebration

The views from the property were amazing and ever changing! We loved your well appointed home. We enjoyed dinners out at Bucks Head Inn and Mourne Seafood. Brennan’s took care of our grocery/beverage needs. The Dundrum Castle is a must see and boasts the most beautiful views and great photo opportunities. We walked the Murlough Nature Reserve, a 6 mile walk that takes you to the beach on the Irish Sea, absolutely beautiful. Thank you for the lovely wine and treats! Amazing waterfront property

When you walk in, the open floorplan and windows all around feels like you are right on the beach! Very well stocked kitchen with modern appliances. Beds are comfe and good closet storage. My favorite part though was seeing the tide come and go and how it changed the landscape. Great location to shopping, pubs, restaurants, and beach combing. Janet was a wonderful host with quick response to any question.

Spectacular place

Absolutely Fantastic

My friend and I had a wonderful stay at Janet’s apartment. The photos don’t do the view justice and the apartment is even nicer than the photos as well. We had a little problem with the boiler but Janet was wonderful and sorted things out to our satisfaction for the inconvenience. And I’m sure it was just one of those things. There was a lovely welcome awaiting us when we arrived with a bottle of wine and some nibbles. The apartment has everything you could possible want and it really is like a home from home. I can recommend the Bucks Head were we eat the night we arrived and it was excellent. We also eat at The Mourne Seafood Bar and I had the Dover sole which was out of this world. I couldn’t get a booking at the Mourne Seafood but Janet managed to pull some strings and kindly got us in. Both restaurants are only a very short walk from the apartment. There is so much to see and do from the Murlough nature reserve (Murlough beach runs right around from Dundrum bay to Newcastle) to Castlewellan and a must is Silent Valley which is absolutely stunning. This was my first holiday in Northern Ireland and I would go back to Janet’s fabulous apartment in a heartbeat. Sitting on the balcony looking at the view you couldn’t beat it. Can't recommend this apartment enough it is without doubt the best I've ever stayed in. So thanks Janet for making everything so special.

Fantastic place by the bay

Really lovely place for a quiet break. Gorgeous views of the bay and Moune mountains. Fantastic sunrises and sunsets. Nice touch with a welcome gift. Highly recommend.

Perfect In Every Way!

This property exceeded our expectations! The views are spectacular and the apartment is so quiet and clean. It was the perfect get away for us. Our only regret is that we didn't stay longer. Lovely apartment, nice and quiet, beautiful location.

The Quay is a lovely neighborhood, well located. The apartment is nicely laid out with good amenities and features. We were there in October, so it would have been nice to have the fireplace working. We very much enjoyed our stay!

perfect stay

We stayed 14 days in the apartment. We were only 2 . So we could really enjoy the spacious apartment.The interior was beautiful all was clean and nice decorated. Close to very good restaurants in Dundrum - walking distance . More of course in Newcastle. A lot of things you could do from Dundrum. the House complex was absolutely quiet. Exact what we needed. Stayed last week of august- first week september.

Fabulous apartment

My dream apartment - stylish,spotless,everything you could require there and the view is ever changing with the tides so it it hard to leave it to enjoy the wonderful Mournes. The owner is very helpful and nearby restaurants excellent -everything in place for an extremely enjoyable holiday.

This is an amazing apartment with an amazing view!

A total gem! Janet has thought of everything, from a welcome basket of gifts to a well stocked kiddo room with lots of toys and books. Beautifully decorated, so peaceful, and very well appointed. A short walk in to town and up to the castle (perfect for a sunset picnic) and a short drive in to Newcastle with a large grocery store and seaside shopping. Would stay again in a heartbeat.

A perfect getaway with amazing view

This is an ideal place to stay if you enjoy breathtaking views all day long. The apartment itself is spacious and has everything you could possibly need supplied for you. Janet was most gracious and an excellent host providing all information requested and then some. She made sure our stay was as special as it could be. Looking forward to returning if travels ever take us in the area again.

Perfect Getaway

This apartment was perfect, we stayed three nights, best for relaxing and views! We visited Dundrum & Castlewellan Castles, went horse back riding, and Belfast (1hour) for the Game of Thrones Location Tour (awesome tour hits all the best spots in Northern Ireland). Good spot for a couple days, wouldn't stay more than 3/4 days unless strictly to relax & enjoy the small town and breathtaking views! Apartment very well kept, clean, cozy, and owner left cheese & crackers, a very nice touch! Highly recommended;)

Great location, Luxurious comfort, Peace and Quiet

It's our 3rd stay in 2 years; and once again our holiday has meet all our hopes and expectations. Janet's apartment is finished to a high detail of comfort and decor; the complimentary wine and snacks are a very welcome site upon arrival. The kitchen is equipped with all the utensils needed for cooking for 2-8 people. This time we let the local restaurants have a night off (yes we do like our food!), and we cooked in. What I liked was that the kitchen cupboards are stocked a little bit like home. There are a wide range of spices, oils and condiments; which can be used and then topped up on the last day if necessary. As for local restaurants, there are details in the apartment welcome pack for the local village of Dundrum. The next town down the coast, Newcastle, also has an array of fine eating establishments. there will definitely be a restaurant there that will answer your own individual tastes. Finally, the views from the apartment are stunning. The ever-changing views of the tide coming in and out, from the bay that is just beyond the apartment windows, is mesmerising to watch. Visit this apartment with confidence. It is well maintained, tastefully decorated, and the owner is very friendly and accommodating.

Bright, clean, great view, walking distance to very good restaurant

We had a very pleasant stay at the Quay apartment and found everything to be as described in the HomeAway listing. The apartment is very functional and well laid out. We really enjoyed watching the birds and the tide from the living room, as well as the clouds rolling over the Slieve Donard. The shower in the ensuite bathroom was very good, and the bed in the master bedroom was comfortable. Although we did not cook, there were plenty of utensils in the kitchen. The only thing I could not find was an ice cube tray!! Also, an automatic coffee maker would be a welcome addition. One other minor quibble - a fitted sheet with elastic that is still grippy, so the sheet stays put. But these are little details that did not materially impact our stay. I could have spent hours looking out the window, but that was unnecessary since the apartment is close to attractions such as Castle Ward, which we visited in a day trip and drive up the coast. Best of all is the Bucks Head Restaurant, where we had dinner every night of our 3 day stay. The food was delicious and the place is professionally run. To have such a good restaurant within walking distance from the apartment, in such a small town, was an amazing bonus !! That and the wonderful view from the living room made our visit a very memorable experience, one I would be happy to repeat.

Stunning!!

Absolutely beautiful apartment with perfect views of the sea and mountains!.. The Owner let us arrive early which was really helpful as we had an early flight and was welcomed with a card and some wine. Perfect location and had a fabulous stay!! Cannot fault it. Will definitely be going back :)

Wow is right. Beautiful place and area to visit.

I read the great reviews and I saw the pictures, and yet I still walked into this apartment and said "wow". The apartment was set up for us beautifully on arrival, exactly as depicted in the photos on the site. We got lucky in late September with weather and were still able to sit out on the balcony with a drink to truly take in the area. This was a great location for two golfing couples to stay and play Royal County Down and Ardglass. We cooked our own meals and also enjoyed two excellent restaurants two minutes walk away. The apartment is modern and very stylish. It was a favourite stay in our 3 week trip around northern Ireland.

stunning views, excellent wildlife

Despite unpredictable weather, we had a lovely time. The apartment is fantastic a lovely base to unwind and relax. There is excellent easy access to a range of high quality restaurants and veiw to die for. I will miss watching the seals playing in the sea from the bedroom window!

Luxury and child-friendly CAN be done!

When we decided to go away on holiday this year the two things on our wish list were a luxurious setting that we could relax and enjoy, and also a child-friendly environment for our 18 month old daughter, Phoebe. We didn't think that we'd be able to find a location that provided both, but Janet's apartment in Dundrum ticked both boxes in the most amazing way. The apartment itself was absolutely beautiful, filled with interesting art and finished with impecable style and taste. The views were stunning, and the location very handy to local beaches and great restaurants. But what impressed us possibly the most was the way in which Phoebe was catered for: a range of toys (including miniature rocking horse that she wanted to bring home!) and books kept her amused all week, she enjoyed seal-watching and her first beach experience, and she slept like a baby (haha) in the well proportioned travel cot . In short, for 2 first time parents bringing their child away for her first holiday, we couldn't have had a better experience! Thankyou Janet--we'll definately come back soon!

Simply....the views are second to none! We have travelled the world and stayed in many wonderful places but the view of the mountains and the bay at Dundrum captured our heart. We plan to retire there and can't imagine ourselves ever parting with it! It has been our pleasure to share it with guests from all around the world and many return each year, sometimes twice or three times a year to enjoy it! I think it has captured their heart also!

What makes this property unique

The apartment is one of only three properties at The Quay which have floor to ceiling corner windows taking in both the views of the Bay and the Mountains. We may be bias but we believe we chose the best spot! It is bright and spacious and as soon as you walk in through the doors, we guarantee you will relax! It is totally calm and peaceful and it wouldn't be hard to lose track of time kicking back and enjoying the ever changing views. We take pride in how we present the apartment for our guests and the furnishings, artwork, bedlinen etc are all of good quality. Believe me, we want you to have a wonderful experience and to enjoy your stay at the apartment as much as we do!
