This quiet house is snuggled back away from the Leonard boulevard with a beautiful view of the valley. The homes' history suggests it used to be a carriage house! The main house by the road used to be a parsonage, but behind the main house is our carriage (guest) house, so the servants quarters would have been above the lower carriage storage on the second floor. This is where you, our house guests, will sleep. There is a fully furnished kitchen and bathroom (shower only) with comfortable seating on the upper and main floors. Outdoor seating behind the house and on the back patio helps you relax while watching nature and listening to the outdoor sounds. Within walking distance to the local Lamont Park and historical cemetery, you can take short walks around our little town. The house is currently showing it's "age" and we have plans to renovate the attic space. Please keep in mind this is a VERY OLD house and it will not be perfect. There are cracks/paint touch ups and small repairs that need to be done during the winter months when the prime vacation season is finished. But its' imperfections add character, right? The pool (open June - August), fire pit and sports court are available for our guests.

Overall this was a very nice stay for my family and dog, especially if you're just looking for a peaceful place to hunker down. The only things I would want anyone to know before booking is that the cabin is right up against some woods and, thus, bugs. My daughter found a tick on her and there were several stink bugs and prolly pollies trotting around. Not a big deal unless you have bug phobias. Also, the path to the house is not paved, so you may want to take that into account with your luggage and footwear.
Great location for the event we came for in Grand Rapids! Although it wasn’t an issue for us, the twin beds listed were air mattresses that you have to blow up with a supplied pump. There were 3 twin-size air mattresses. We had a great stay!

First time in Michigan
It advertises as a 1 bedroom that sleeps 5, with one queen bed, 2 twin beds, and a futon. There was not 2 twin beds….there was 2 air mattress’….not comfortable at all! Also I’m glad we didn’t have 2 more because there wouldn’t have been enough blankets. We actually went and bought some. Just walking around in our socks they got pretty dirty. Would have enjoyed a tv and more seating in the living area. Yes the area is small but you could make it work.
That you so much. Was a great little place for us to stay in the GR area for the weekend.

Quaint and cozy
Not really comfortable for 5 as advertised. The futon was in disrepair and there were no twin beds as listed in the amenities. Very cute place for two or 3. Very peaceful. Would stay again, just with my spouse and my pups only.
Country living in a small village along the Grand River just outside of the Grand Rapids metro area… We were able to visit with family living in GR during our several week stay which made it very convenient for us, but also allowed us to do multiple days trips to Lake Michigan and other regional locations as well. Accessing the property’s relaxing pool was great. Communication with Heidi & Kyle during our stay was just the right touch of being responsive to our needs while allowing privacy as well.

Beautiful setting and kids absolutely loved the pool. Wish our trip lasted longer!
We were in town for a whirlwind 'working' wedding so unfortunately we did not get to fully enjoy the beauty of the location and the nearby lake but the owners were so kind, accommodating and communicative. The only disappointment was not being able to use the pool for physical therapy. Little things that I appreciate though:
Spices in the kitchen: I always thought it was odd to stay at a place with a kitchen but they would have no basic spices in the cupboard. If you want to cook 'at home', buying the seasonings adds up, and then you're not going to pack them up and take with you...it's just silly.
Basic bathroom amenities: I forgot my bag of toiletries so I appreciated not having to run to the store for shampoo, etc. I mean, every hotel has shampoo and soap in the bathroom but you wouldnt believe how many a1rbb/vrb0 places do not.
A comfortable bed: I have severe nerve damage and arthritis so sleeping on anything that is not my tempurpedic at home can make for a downright painful, restless night. Thankfully, that was not the case here!
Streaming channels: Total unexpected bonus! I never expect a place I stay to have subscriptions to the streaming channels I watch. Netflix is pretty common but it was a whim that I turned on the TV to unwind my mind late at night and discovered that they had not only Disney but Paramount "Plus"! Groovy!
Coffee: Plenty of it! Thank you!
This property is very nice. The house is in good shape especially for the age, the bed and futon are on the second story which was not a problem for us. The heated pool was an added bonus and the setting behind the main house is great!
I usually play birdsongs at home but didn't need any here. The birds were singing all day during our stay in June! I woke up to the sounds of church bells in the distance. The street was very quiet.
We enjoyed the swimming pool a lot. It was warm without a lot of chlorine or salt. There were lots of water toys so I grabbed an inner tube. It was so nice. We had been at Lake Michigan earlier in the day where it was too windy and rough to swim. This pool saved the day!
It was a great stay. I'm grateful the Prachers had an opening in their schedule for our visit.
A great get away, its small with stairs, which was no problem for us. The location is wonderful, small towns nearby with good restaurants and grocery stores. A quick drive to Holland and State Parks. We had a wonderful time. And its dog friendly!
This place is pretty neat for the summer time, however I would recommend for younger people with the stairs and the steps into the bathroom. For the owner I definitely would recommend bombing the place for bugs and do routine pest maintenance. The oven also needs a new seal as the seal is off and the knobs get extremely hot. This could be very dangerous for young one (I recommend turning the knobs with pot holders), the cabinet to the left also gets very hot and could potentially catch fire. However it was very quiet and a pretty neat setup with the pool.

Old building
The building was very old pool house. Bathroom was very small up some stairs to get to , had lots of spiders. Was pretty clean and nice views of wildlife. Just needs more clear what place is like..
Grateful for a place that will allow our puppies. Owners very friendly and accommodating. Little house is old and historic so know ahead of time not to expect a typical “newly remodeled” rental…it does show its age. Good place for us to use as a home base and to sleep as we had a weekend full of activities at GVSU. Perfect size for the two of us and our pups!
Such a peaceful weekend close to the city but nestled in the country
We had an absolutely wonderful time staying on this beautiful property. The host was quick to answer my silly questions, and the house is just so quaint and homie. The only downside was the tv was in the upper bedroom area and we enjoyed playing games around the table but wanted to watch the basketball games as well! We’d also recommend putting a pathway to walk down to the house the grass was so mushy we were terrified of ruining your grass! Otherwise we plan to stay again during the warmer months! Our dogs LOVED their stay as well, great spot for the entire family including the fur babies!
Quiet and kept up overall, really liked all the flowers poking out of the ground! Didn’t get a chance to meet the host, but over text seemed super nice and very helpful!
Our son had a Track and Field meet at Grand Valley University and this house is minutes away. We also visited Holland and Grand Haven, nice central location.

Why they chose this property
If you are looking for a quiet peaceful home to take a rest, this is the place! Enjoy some "down time" relaxing in our pool. We are 5 minutes away from Allendale and Coopersville. We are 15 minutes away from downtown Grand Rapids and 30 minutes from Grand Haven beach.
What makes this property unique
This unique home qualifies as historic! Built in the 1830's, there are many stories this house could tell. The most profound piece of information is that the main house was built for a Methodist pastor and his family of Lamont. He would have parked his horse and carriage in the house you will be staying in and possibly have some servants living in the upper floor to help with the estate. Remember, this house has little dents and scratches because it is so old. We try to save our projects for the down time during the winter months. So, keep in mind you will be visiting a OLD house in the COUNTRY with country smells and country critters outside and possibly a couple bugs inside when the weather warms up or cools down with the weather changes.
