Great villa, lovely location

The villa was well presented with an excellent, well maintained pool. The sea is a 50m walk away. There are sandy stretches as well as a reef which is great for snorkelling. The countryside to the West is ideal for gentle cycle rides.

Simply Wonderful!

Stayed for 10 days at the end of June and wished it could have been longer! This is a fantastic Villa with everything (and more) you could possibly need. Even the beds are comfortable which in our experience is a rarity! The Welcome Pack on arrival is superb, particularly the meatballs and Debbie's Orangello (very potent). Debbie and Bob are fantastic hosts and made us feel like family. Their knowledge of the area is invaluable .. lots of tips for places to see and restaurants to visit. We particularly enjoyed the heated pool .. none of that having to psyche yourself up to get in it in the morning! As we are all cat lovers if was so nice to have visits from all the beautiful cats that Debbie and Bob have rescued and take such good care of. I so wanted to bring Bonnie home with me! Also loved the shady area by the outside bar with the hammock. It was extremely hot while we were there and this was a perfect place to relax with a book. The Villa is an easy walk to several good restaurants and plenty of local shops nearby to replenish stocks. We would just like to say a huge thank you to Debbie and Bob for making our holiday extra special and hope to be back again before too long! Debbie, Alan, Andrea and Andy

Family holiday

A lovely villa and pool, with nice owners who were helpful with queries. Our stay was enjoyable even though the area was a little lacking of places to eat or to buy provisions without using the car. We eventually found a garage with a shop and pizzeria and a bar/restaurant close by and the local bakery/deli was fab. Maybe later in June there's more available close by. The locals were so friendly and helped enormously with my pigeon Italian! Our biggest problem was using keys to the outer door of the villa - there's a knack to getting them into the lock and we struggled here abd there with this. Also the extremely slow filter water tap for cooking and drinking. We got used to it and I filled everything first thing in the morning to save time during the day. I love real coffee and the villa had a really good expresso machine. Unfortunately it took a while to master and time to get enough coffee for a full mug . A cafetiere would be great for the villa I think for those guests who want a large cup! Anything else we needed was there in abundance as the villa was very well stocked. The many and varied cats were lovely, and very well behaved. So much so that my grown up son and his partner wanted to take a couple home! Lovely relaxing stay overall.

Perfect Peaceful Pretty

We had a wonderful 4 weeks at Casa Mare with Bob and Debbie. The pool is glorious a constant 29c so lovely to swim in. The welcome pack was the best we have ever had and the house was spacious and clean. .The area is rugged and there are two fun villages/towns that are walkable. We went quite late in the season and the last week of our stay up to 15th September a lot of restaurants closed for the season but we always managed to find somewhere to eat at night locally. Fell in love with Bunty one of the cats who adopted us for the month. the others were not a problem as they stay in Bob and Debbie's part of the garden and it is so lovely that they are cared for all their lives. We had to visit a dentist whilst there Lecce as a front crown came loose, We were taken there by Mino who made the meatballs in our welcome pack and the treatment was amazing, came out with a new crown beautifully done on the premises 4hrs later, we were very impressed and it was a lot cheaper than we would have paid in England. All in all Casa Mare is a great place to stay, the bikes were used by our grandson and his girlfriend to visit beautiful local sandy beaches that had loungers to rent for the day, not expensive.Mosquito bar seemed to be their favorite. Lots to see if you want to, the Trulli Village, shopping in Lecce, and we rented a boat for a day with a lovely couple who captained and cooked for us on Click and Boat and had the most wonderful day.Thoroughly recommend Casa Mare if you want to visit Puglia, we all had a great time .

This villa is amazing, great pool and many spacious areas! Great location to explore Puglia

We had a fantastic time at the Villa which has a fantastic heated pool (like a warm bath) and many different areas to relax and socialise. Bob and Debbie were on hand whenever we needed help with things such as directions or restaurant recommendations or bookings, they have also mastered the art of being there to help but also not intrusive on your holiday at all. The villa provided a great location to explore Puglia including Otranto, Brindisi, Lecce and Gallipoli. The welcome basket on arrival was a great touch, especially with a late arrival from the airport. The villa itself is spacious and the kitchen provides a great area to cook and socialise with your group whilst the outdoor veranda allows for drinks in the evening. We couldn’t recommend this villa enough and would definitely stay again if we were to go to Puglia. Thanks Bob and Debbie for your hospitality and making this one of our best holidays to date!

Fantastic villa, fantastic hosts!

Villa was what we wanted and exactly what you see in the picture. Not too far from Brindisi airport, steps from the beach. Being cat lovers we also loved that added value! 🐈 Debby and Bob were very gracious, helpful and wonderful hosts. The welcome basket was a great and much appreciated touch. We had a wonderful stay.

Wonderful holiday

Casa Mare is a beautiful house and very comfortable. The pool is fantastic and there is lots of shade. Debs and Bob provided lots of small things to make our stay more comfortable such as an excellent guide to the local towns and restaurants which we used a lot and really helped us find some great places to eat. We also really appreciated the excellent welcome basket which included home made meatballs on the night we arrived. There are also 2 bikes; not flash or particularly fast but we loved cycling along the coast to the local village to buy bread and fresh food in the mornings. Puglia is a lovely place for a holiday with lots to see within a short distance but if you want to just stay at Casa Mare that would be excellent too and fantastic for families or couples

The villa is absolutely lovely. It is comfortable, very spacious and very well equipped.

We loved the villa. It had everything we needed and more. It's set in a peaceful walled garden with lots of seating areas and a fantastic pool. A very relaxing place to stay. Debbie and Bob are great hosts and were on hand whenever we needed advice or support. They provide a really generous welcome basket which was greatly appreciated.

Lovely villa, great facilities

The villa met all of our expectations (from owners description and previous reviews). A lovely beachside location, a stone's throw from a secluded beach with crystal clear waters. The villa has a fabulous heated pool which meant that we could swim very comfortably in May. Inside, every room is spacious and extremely well equipped. The owners gave us a much appreciated welcome basket which included some lovely local produce. They were always around to give us any advice re restaurants, places to visit, local tips etc. A fabulous holiday for my families' celebration of my husbands 60th birthday.

Lovely villa with a large pool and close to beach

We had a lovely relaxing holiday at Casa Mare. We were made so welcome by Debbie and Bob and the huge welcome basket including a meal for the first evening was very generous. The villa is well equipped and extremely comfortable. The large pool area is ideal for lazy days in the sun but the beach is so close that you are spoilt for choice between the pool and the sea. The villa is ideally placed for visiting Otranto, Monopoli, Gallipoli, and Alberbello, all of which are beautiful and worth the drive. We enjoyed the daily visits from the Casa Mare cats. Thank you for a lovely holiday

100% perfect

The villa owners ensure that your stay is perfect from start to finish. Way before you arrive the communication is excellent - you can ask any questions and they will be answered very promptly. Exceptional customer service and you feel that they really do care about your stay. The villa description is fully accurate and so when we arrived we already felt at home. Lots of books, games, puzzles, maps and phrase books ensure that you feel that the villa is a home from home. Highlights are the super pool, proximity to the beach, well stocked kitchen, WONDERFUL welcome basket with cereal, bread, home made sauces, chutneys and limoncello along with items in the fridge such as butter, milk, beer and water, meatballs in tomato sauce and cheeses... There are plenty of places within the garden to sit in full sun or shade, with beach chairs/umbrella and pool inflatables available as added extras. The Casa Mare cats are a delight and we enjoyed learning their names and personalities. Walking along the beach to Lindinuso in the mornings for fresh bread, fruit, veg and meat was perfect - all of the villagers we encountered were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend if you want a relaxing and non commercialised environment to soak up the Puglian sun.

Family holiday

We had a lovely time at Casa Mare. My husband and I came with my son, daughter in law and 2 grandchildren (5 and 7). It only took us 30 minutes to drive from the airport. The villa is very spacious, clean and well equipped. The welcome basket was much appreciated, as we had enough for our first meal, and did'nt have to go out shopping. The pool was warm enough for the boys to stay in for hours, even though the weather at the end of May was not very hot. It was very good to have the pool cleaned and covered every night, and to have an ample supply of towels. Although our boys managed well, the shallow end of the pool was over the head of the 5 year old. Bob and Debbie were always on hand for queries, but otherwise we hardly saw them, so felt quite private. The boys also loved the hammock, and had a lot of fun with the cats. Although the beach is quite narrow, we appreciated the rock pools, and snorkelling over the seaweed, where we saw lots of fish. We did most of our food shopping in the iper coop at Brindisi (excellent), but got very good bread from the local bread shop. We also went a lot to the Gelateria Vittoria in Squinzano which had delicious ice creams and cakes. we also had a good meal in the restaurant in Via Castello in Messagne. My husband and I had interesting trips to Otranto, Galatina, Lecce and Porto Cesareo, and there were many other towns we would have liked to explore. Overall, a very successful holiday, with something for all the family.

Fabulous out of season holiday

We have visited the Salento region many times in the summer but this was a chance to see it out of season and what a great choice that was! I really think it is far easier and just as fun to explore this region in the cooler weather. As it was we were lucky with the temperatures: it was in the low 20 (C) most of the week, but if you sat in a sheltered area in the sunshine - it was hot enough for shorts and t shirts! We only had one day of rain and a couple of cloudy days, but we were too busy to notice! This is where Bob and Debbie's local contacts are invaluable, they directed us towards local restaurants and markets, arranged for a fantastic wine tour and also a day exploring the region further north: we visited Cisternino, Locorotondo and Ostuni, explored an vineyard and an old farmhouse and had a fabulous lunch. Nothing was too much trouble! It goes without saying that the villa is fabulous, well equipped, comfortable and cosy. I would thoroughly recommend booking this villa and enjoying Puglia when it is less crowded but just as fascinating and fun.

Sun, sea and Salento

This is a superb holiday villa, right on the sea, well equipped with a pool, three good sized bedrooms, large lounge, excellent kitchen and perfect veranda plus lots of other places to sit around the pool. The welcome basket is excellent, Bob and Debbie having lived in the area for many years are highly knowledgable and can arrange great days out such as wine tours, through their contacts. As a keen open water swimmer, runner and cyclist the villa is also well positioned for people that want to keep up their fitness whilst away. A wonderful holiday home away from home on a quiet beach between two small fishing resorts which have restaurants, grocers and markets perfect for those that want to experience the real Salento life.

A brilliant find - great holiday location and grea

Great opportunity to have a local Puglian experience in a well set up Villa. Positives - next to a beach, great for long walks, kids toys etc provided (great bucket and spades), not too busy, not many tourists (set up for local Italians but not too commercial) but all very welcoming, good road connection to Lecce (25 mins away), Ostuni (40 mins away), Brindis (20 mins away), fabulous welcome pack with local ingredients - loved the green tomato chutney and marmalade, local Puglian chef can deliver to your door - we had meatballs for 7 (5 kids +2 adults) and lasagne - great experience to take home, great pool (very clean and warm), nice large kitchen, free wifi, TV, DVD, ipod coking station to play music, fully stocked kitchen, washing machine with powders, owners of this villa have gone to a lot of trouble to cater for every detail all you need to do is sit back and relax, we had a flat tyre on our people carrier and the villa owner sorted it all for us - really nice people who are very helpful and unobtrusive. Great information in English on local area, everything is well set up and children friendly, air con is great, extremely safe environment. We have visited Italy over 20 times and this is one of our best holiday experiences. Negatives - absolutely none. Owners have every detail covered. That welcome pack is brilliant, pasta, breads, home made chutney, jams, crisps, butter, milk, breakfast cereals, local wines (white, rose, red), lemonchella, and a local dish to put in the oven - aim is not to have to dash off to the local supermarket as soon as you arrive. Brilliant! Tips: We took a flight from Paris to Brindisi (we live near the channel tunnel in Kent). For a party of 7 this saved £1,800 in flight costs (UK Bank Holiday weekend) and we found parking costs much cheaper. Brindis airport is a medium sized airport that you can step off the plane, walk to baggage reclaim in 2 mins and as soon as your bags are delivered you can be at car hire in under 5 mins. All very easy. Brindisi airport is 25 mins from the villa via the main road that runs through this area.

Perfect Puglia for everyone

Wonderful to be back in Puglia this summer, this time with twenty-something daughter and her friend. Perfect home from home, with great facilities for shared cooking and of course the welcome basket made a perfect kick start! It is great to have the comfort of the villa and pool with the beach nearby so plenty of choice. There are also wonderful villages, towns and beaches in the area for visits. The link up with the local tour specialists lead to some truly magical experiences from wine tasting to passata making. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit and look forward to returning.

Ticks all the boxes and then some

We scoured the internet for our dream spot in Puglia, the beach nearby was the first requirement. Tick one! Fall out of the Villa and land on the beautiful unspoilt, virtually empty beach, with a lovely clear warm safe sea! Secluded, but with amenities near by next on the list. Tick two!Totally secluded and private, and just a short walk either way up the sun kissed beach for local shops and restaurants,ok,not top gourmet restaurants and bars but really nice and clean and run by genuine locals with local produce, which is amazing! Spacious, clean Villa, with well equipped kitchen another top requirement. Tick three! Not only is the kitchen a cooks delight,it is stocked with equipment worthy of a professional kitchen! And then some with Debs & Bobs welcome basket!Meatballs and pasta with home made sauce for the weary traveller, and everything else you need to get you started on your rustic Puglian culinary adventure.Special mention goes to Debs amazing home made Casa Mare produce, especially the Limoncello made from lemons growing in the villa grounds, lost a complete night on the stuff. Pool and nice outside area next. Tick four! Beautiful large pool, deep and shallow ends, lots of pool fun equipment, sun beds, seats, chairs, alfresco dining on the terrace, flowers and shrubs, again catering size BBQ.All well maintained and pristine, really nice place to eat, cook and relax.Historical Towns and Villages with lots of gorgeous architecture to visit Tick 5 in abundance! I am not going to list them, far too many to mention and everything covered in the extensive information folders compiled by Debs & Bob,you could not wish to be better informed on what is on where and when. And talking of Bob & Deb,they are discretely on hand to help, advise or answer any questions you may have, their knowledge of the local area boundless. The cats are a welcome distraction from lazing around but they only come if you encourage them. There is a book that has been written about them, and some of their stories are quite remarkable. My husband is not the biggest fan of cats and was totally not bothered by them. Casa Mare is a great base to explore Puglia from,or just to laze and relax,it really is the place that has it all.Book up and go,families or couples or friends there is something for everyone, just go with the flow and I am sure you will end up loving Puglia,Casa Mare and the superb hosts Debs & Bob just like we did. This holiday all our box's and I am sure it will do the same for you

Great villa for a young family

We had a fantastic 10 days at Casa Mare. The villa is excellently appointed and you would struggle to find a better property for a family holiday with children. The swimming pool and surrounding area are excellent and the hot tub is great for a soak once the sun has gone down. The owners Debbie and Bob are very friendly and accommodating without being intrusive. We had an excellent welcome pack which meant that even with 8 mouths to feed we did not have to venture to the supermarket on the day we arrived. The closest towns are quiet and certainly not for those seeking more adventurous nightlife but are perfect for sampling the simple, traditional Italian seaside location, good food and very pallatable, very cheap wine. It is pointed out in the details but you should definitely avoid this property if you have a dislike of ( or allergy to) cats as they are very present part of the property - which is great for kids and cat lovers. Overall this is an excellent property which offers great value for money.

Fabulous Villa Seconds from the Sea!

We have just returned from a great 2 weeks in Case Mare where the 'omni' present Debbie and Bob could not have been more helpful and provided a welcome pack that beats all welcome packs and a villa that has absolutely everything you would every need. Huge pool hot tub restaurant recommendations, fab places to visit, beaches to lie on and seas to snorkel in. If you have 4 teenagers that you need to keep entertained (huge DVD Colletion on site a god send!) this is the perfect spot. The only way it could have been improved would have been the addition of a table tennis table - family tradition so no defending title match this year. Highly Recommended - any thanks.

My husband Richard and I stayed at Casa Mare at the beginning of the season, the location is beautiful and very versatile, offering peace and quiet or fun and adventure depending on what you are looking for. The property is extremely comfortable, with full amenities including a big pool and a sheltered sunny garden. The beach is right next door and the general location is excellent for visiting the numerous historic towns close by (Lecce, Alberobello), and further afield (Pompeii – 3.30 to 4 hours away). Debbie and Bob were like walking tourist information centres, and gave us some great ideas for places to visit that were of interest to us. The food in the south is very good with a concentration on fresh fish, what we found particularly nice is that the local area was the real Italy and not a tourist trap.

Great house and very peaceful

We spent 9 days in Casa Mare at the beginning of September. The house and pool were perfect for us and just as described. We wanted peace and quiet and that's what we got. Beds very comfy and kitchen well equipped with everything. We didn't use the local beach as it was a bit narrow and without shade but loved the nearby "Exotic" beach at Casalabate. We had slightly mixed weather and beach facilities were just beginning to shut down (especially around Gallipoli) but all the restaurant and trip suggestions from the house book or from Bob that we followed up were very reliable. Bob couldn't have been more helpful, especially when we had to leave a day early and organise flights to the UK in a hurry. We will certainly return to Puglia and do more exploring of Lecce, Brindisi and the Ostuni area which we didn't mange to complete. Bob and Debbie were excellent in all communications prior to our trip and we would certainly recommend Casa Mare to everyone - except to those with a cat allergy!

Home from Home

Casa Mare is a well maintained and beautiful spacious well furnished villa with a good size swimming pool. We were very impressed with the well equipped kitchen and welcome hamper. Bob and Debbie are fantastic hosts, they made us so welcome. We were so impressed right from the beginning of our holidaywhen there was a mix up with our car hire at the airport. Bob immediately drove to the airport to see if he could help. There were othe little touches like Debbie would leave strawberries for us from her garden and were very generous in supplying us with the local vino when we didn't have any. The location is great, just a few steps to the beach and easy access to historic places of Otranto and Lecce. For eating there are lovely local pizzierias and restaurants.

We are an English couple who have travelled extensively often working abroad. Before moving to Puglia we lived in Berkshire in Southern England in a small town. We lived a hectic life revolving mainly around work ..... no wonder we opted out of the rat race and retired early when the opportunity presented itself!

Why they chose this property

We had holidayed in Puglia in 1999 and returned in the Spring of 2005, renewing our love affair with Puglia, Having recently sold our business we made the major decision to sell up in the UK and retire early, looking for a complete change of lifestyle. We found it. From a frenetic working life to the warmth of the mezzo-giorno and the warmth and hospitality of the Southern Italians, Puglia provides us with the opportunity to take the time to enjoy our retirement.

What makes this property unique

The location of Casa Mare makes it a perfect place to relax and enjoy Puglia. Sea views from the verandah and from the living room with the constant sound of the sea in the background are a reminder, if you need one, of how close the sea and beach are. Waking up to summer sunshine, the blue of the pool and the blue skies are a perfect way to start the day.

With two holiday seaside villages in walking distance, we love to stroll to one or the other for a morning coffee or late afternoon aperitvi, picking up any shopping at the same time.

Eating out on the verandah or at the large shaded table in the garden somehow makes even the best food and wine taste even better.
Together with our fantastic events organiser, Ylenia, we can arrange almost any sort of activity or day trip, making sure you discover and understand the real Puglia. We've even hosted a wedding here at Casa Mare and had several honeymooners choose Casa Mare as the place to be.
For families with young children the environment is perfect, a safe beach, a garden to play in and our cats to amuse them.
Whether you are one family or an extended family, groups of friends, or a couple looking for a romantic holiday, Casa Mare is a perfect holiday destination in Perfect Puglia.
