A wonderful stay!

This is an incredibly welcoming setting...the flats are beautifully appointed and we enjoyed the fabulous bedding, espresso coffee maker, fireplace, etc--just so many very thoughtful details, and immaculately clean throughout. Absolute highlights for us include the very social pair of pigs on the farm, two friendly pups, and multiple nearby farm and field walks,,.but the helpfulness of the hosts, as we gathered our large family for a holiday celebration, was just above and beyond...from wonderful baked goods awaiting us on arrival to help with setting up a dining table to fit us all, it felt like we were being greeted by friends. We hope to return often!

About the host

Host profile image
Philip and I moved into the farmhouse with our children Ben, Leo and Anna and took over running the farm some 12 years ago, renovating the house then setting about tackling the farmyard. We have planted hedges and woodland trees to improve the natural environment and as a family we are involved in and support many community events and initiatives in the village. Although Bullocks is now mainly arable, we farm a small herd of rare-breed pigs, which provide us with great pork and fabulous sausages, a few sheep (grass maintenance only) and chickens for eggs. For many years I have worked in interior design, mainly for one of the leading practices in London and I hope the attention to detail in Millers reflects that.

Why they chose this property

We are very passionate about this part of Essex, we are lucky to be able to live a very quiet rural life but with the benefits of being so close to London. Having had a holiday home on the North Norfolk coast for 10 years I know what I want from a holiday or short break and the accommodation is extremely important to me. We have therefore tried to make it special, extremely comfortable and a real retreat which whilst having all the "mod-cons" respects the environment around it. We are confident you will not be disappointed.

What makes this property unique

Situated on a working farm, we have wonderful walks and cycle route on our doorstep, together with great local markets, shops, pubs and restaurants. Its an ideal place to get away from it all, without travelling for miles, whether its for a short weekend break or if visiting for a wedding or celebration or if working in the area.
