Harkia Villas is a complex of 2 luxurious villas, villa Thimari & villa Faskomilia, designed by its owner Argiri Vasilaki. Both villas offer a unique panoramic view, by hanging over the hill Anemomilos and overlooking the Cretan Sea. The villas are perfectly located; Close to sea and mountain, allowing the guests to explore destinations in the western and eastern part of the island.

The exterior: An outdoor & private swimming pool with 4 sun loungers encircled by flowers, olive trees and grass. There is a large balcony with a pergola table for 4-6 people and a private barbecue free to use whenever you want. On the first floor of the villa there is also a large balcony with a swing for 2 people and a table with 4 chairs to enjoy the beautiful mornings and charming colours of the evening. Private parking for up to 2 cars just next to the villa.

The interior: On the ground floor there is a large living room for up to 5 people, the kitchen, the dining area and one bedroom. The kitchen is fully equipped and has a large dining table. The bedroom has two single beds with coco-mat mattresses, a small balcony and a bathroom with bathtub.

Οn the first floor there is a bedroom with a large double bed with coco-mat mattress and pillows. In addition, there is a bathroom with shower/jacuzzi and a large balcony. with spectacular view on the Cretan Sea.

Harkia Villas are built at an altitude of 500 meters and offer an experience of tranquility and nature away from the mass tourist spots. On the other hand, our guests can find restaurants, supermarkets and cafes within a 10km radius. More specifically:

- Platanias area is 10km away. In Platanias there are shops, restaurants, bars, supermarkets, gas stations, local tavernas and more. In addition, there is a sandy beach.
- The town of Rethymno is 15km away.
- The monastery of Arkadi is 8 km away. It is an important historical site and one of the must-visit spots on the island.
- Ancient Eleftherna and its museum are 20 km away.
- Margarites village famous for its ceramics is 24 km away.
- Kastro Tavern is 7km away. It is located in the village Mesi with a very nice environment and delicious food.

Beautifully Tranquil

Our family of 4 enjoyed our stay, the hosts were fabulous and nothing was too much bother considering we managed to livl ourselves out the first night after a long drive. The villa is spacious, clean and has everything you need it’s like home from home. The beds were the most comfortable we’ve ever stayed in.

Beautiful setting

Just returned from a wonderful stay at this very relaxing villa near Rethmynon . The vista was quite breathtaking and extremely peaceful ! The hosts couldn’t do enough for you and made us very welcome plus cooked us delicious meals ! Quite a windy mountain road to get there but we’ll worth it !

a little piece of heaven

I cannot recommend this place enough. A very spacious and well equipped villa in a peaceful location yet well positioned for day trips out to local sights. The family were wonderful hosts and were attentive to our needs. The villa was very clean and the air conditioning a welcome relief after a day in the sun. We really enjoyed the outdoor space and privacy surrounding the villa which meant we could really relax and enjoy our stay. We also were treated to some lovely homemade goodies which made our stay extra special. THANK YOU ! XX

Wonderful peaceful location

We have just returned from a wonderful two week stay in this beautiful villa, in the most peaceful location. During the present climate, this was just what we needed to escape a little, and wind down on this lovely laid back island. The villa was immaculately cared for, cleaned twice a week during our stay, and we were supplied with a meal on arrival, and further gifts of cakes and olive oil. The pool was a delight, the beds comfortable, and we have absolutely no regrets over our stressful lead up to our decision on wether to go ahead with this holiday. Many thanks to Irini and family.

VillaThimari Beautiful !

We have recently returned from three weeks at the wonderful Villa Thimari .We usually rent a villa for our summer break and we have stayed in some lovely places . However this was far and away the best experience we have had. .Irini and her lovely parents did everything they possibly could to make us welcome providing a delicious home cooked meal on our arrival and bringing us wine olive oil cakes and scrumpy cakes. The villa was stylish but comfortable with everything you could possibly need .The roof terrace was perfect for stargazing and watching the buzzards circle and the swallows diving for a drink .The peace and quiet was a wonderful gift for us (Living in Central London) and the views were spectacular. We havent visited Crete for many years and had forgotten how hospitable generous and kind the Cretan people are, Wewill not leave it so long next time. Thank you for making our stay so memorable .Would recommend Crete and your beautiful villa every time. The Bennetts

Excellent villa holiday

Our holiday at Thimari Villa was absolutely perfect. We were met on our arrival by Irini and her mother who explained everything and left a delicious pork meal which was just what we needed after a long day travelling. In addition to this were their own eggs, olive oil, wine, fruit and a cake halfway through our week which was again delicious. I Highly reccommend this villa.

Great location with fabulous views; immaculate accommodation, and the best hospitality.

Sometimes you think some reviews can be 'over the top', but this property deserves the 5 star rating. The friendly Vasilaki family really do make sure that everything you need is just right; delicious food on arrival with welcome pack, and regular towel and bed changes, pool cleaning etc, but also immediate responses to requests e.g. they bought a new DVD player because we found the existing one faulty, and prepared another delicious meal for us upon request (big tasty portions too). A car trip / hike to get there, but you are rewarded with beautiful views, and a real sense of splendid isolation in luxurious accommodation. A good base for touring too. Lidl supermarket is convenient and not too far away, and has everything you might need. There are 2 villas on the site, but both are completely separate, and private. We loved it, and think that you will too.

WONDERFULL TIME

We had a wonderfull stay in Villa Thimari. We came to Crete for more than 20 times, but this was one of the best vacations ever. Many thanks to the Vasilaki family(especially to mammy Vasso) for their hospitality - we never had such a good service ! Eventhough the villa is situated in a very quiet environment, there are many good restaurants in less than 20 minutes drive - try Thavma in Maroulas and also Kastro Mesi ! We hope to come back ! Fam. Villa Thimari is in the most beautiful location up in the hills behind Rethymno.

We have just returned from a wonderful fortnight in Villa Thimari. The location of the villa and magnificent view, along with the peace and tranquility made for a really relaxing holiday. The Vasilaki family were so helpful, we have never had such a good service. The house was cleaned and towels changed every 2nd day and all the linen changed every 4th day. After a long journey from Scotland and a battle with our SatNav, we arrived very late (having given up any hope of food) to find a delicious meal waiting for us along with wine and olive oil produced by the family. The villa and pool are both beautiful. Apart from enjoying a relaxing time at the house we would recommend a visit to nearby Arkadi Monastry - a beautiful site. We enjoyed the beaches on the south coast; crystal clear water and not busy, but loved (particularly our son) the beaches on the north side for the great surf, nice ones out west of Rethymno a bit. We had lovely meals in To Pigadi restaurant, 31 Xanthoudidou, Old Town Rethmyno, 'modern take on Cretan cuisine' as they put it. Thankyou again to the Vasilaki family for a wonderful fortnight, would thoroughly recommend Villa Thimari.

Traumhafte Ferienvilla in ruhiger Umgebung

Noch sitzen wir auf der schönen Terrasse, genießen den lauen Abend und das friedliche Glockeln der Ziegen und Schafe. Morgen jedoch machen wir uns auf die Heimreise und damit ist dann auch das Ende eines traumhaften Kreta-Urlaubs erreicht. Die Unterkunft in dieser wunderbar ruhig gelegenen und geschmackvoll eingerichteten Villa war alles in allem das Beste was wir bisher erlebt haben. Bereits zur Ankunft erwartete uns Agiri und ihre Mutter mit einem wundervoll zubereiteten griechischen Abendessen, einschließlich einer Flasche Wein. Ein solch herzliches Willkommen hatten wir bis dahin noch nie erlebt. Das Haus an sich ist ideal geeignet für eine 2-4 köpfige Familie, die Ruhe abseits des Touristenrummels in schöner Umgebung sucht. Alles Nötige um einen entspannten Urlaub zu verbringen ist vorhanden, einschließlich Internet per Wlan. Die Lage der Villa auf ca. 500m MSL gewährt einen weiten Blick in die Berge und auf das Meer im Norden der Insel. Agiri und ihre Mutter haben sich während der gesamten Urlaubszeit liebevoll um uns gekümmert und uns sogar mit einem Kuchen überrascht. Die Lage der Villa ist relativ zentral, so hatten wir es nicht weit bis Rethymnon und Chania und die Südstrände waren auch in ca. 80 min zu erreichen. Die Zeit verging wie im Fluge, und wir sind betrübt diesen herrlichen Ort morgen verlassen zu müssen. Bei einem weiteren Kreta-Urlaub würden wir auf jeden Fall erneut diese Unterkunft wählen, es gab einfach nicht die geringste Kleinigkeit die wir kritisieren könnten. Alles in allem war rundum perfekt.

Outstanding!!

This villa far exceeded our expectations in every way. The property/location are stunning and the owners could not have been more welcoming or helpful. In spite of arriving late due to getting lost (!) we were welcomed with a home-cooked meal and home produced wine. To our surprise we were treated to other home made goodies during our stay. The property was maintained to the highest standard and cleaning and linen changing was done on a number of occasions throughout our 11 day stay. We cannot recommend this villa highly enough. Should you choose to stay here the family will make you more than welcome and you will surely want to return.

idyllic dream-destination

We (two adults with three little children) had the lucky opportunity to live for four weeks in villa Thimari during May/June 2010. The villa is very good separated from the other one, so that the privacy is kept very well. Around the villa is nothing than pure nature with a fantastic and absolutely unspoiled panoramic view from the valley to the sea. There is an idyllic silence, the singing of the cicadas und the ringing of the goat’s bells complete the perfect Crete-experience. The villas are very well equipped and lovely furnished and decorated, there was nothing we were missing. We enjoyed especially the fantastic care of the owner and her parents. During many years of traveling to Greece we have never met such a hospitality and such good service (including culinarily highlights!). Renting a car is obligatory for the whole time: You need by car about 15 minutes to the next big supermarket, the trip to Rethmynon takes about half an hour. You can walk to the little village of Harkia, there are two taverns nearby (we mainly cooked in the villa for ourselves). Résumé: The villas are absolutely recommendable! Only people in search for noise and trouble shall search elsewhere for an accommodation.

Wunderschönes Paradies

Die Lage der Villas ist einfach traumhaft, weit weg vom Trubel. Perfekt, wenn man Ruhe und Natur genießen möchte. Ein Mietwagen ist erforderlich, wenn man sich von diesem wunderschönen Ort wegbewegen möchte. Ein Paradies

Was für ein wunderschönes Paradies. Hoch auf den Bergen mit Blick aufs Meer. Zum Seele baumeln lassen ein eigener Pool direkt vor der Terrasse. Jeden Morgen sind wir erst einmal ins Wasser gesprungen. Der Gast wird rundherum umsorgt. Bei Anreise (Schlüssel im Safe am Tor) steht ein fertiges warmes Essen auf dem Herd. Dazu ein griechischer Salat im Kühlschrank, ebenso Getränke. Dazu auf dem Tisch selbst gemachtes Olivenöl. Die Kommunikation mit dem Vermieter Argiri erfolgt unkompliziert und schnell. Alle Anliegen werden sofort beantwortet und umgesetzt. Innerhalb weniger Minuten sind seine charmanten Eltern da und schaffen Abhilfe. Wir haben uns so wohl gefühlt und sagen Argiri und seinen Eltern von Herzen Danke. Irgendwann kommen wir bestimmt wieder.

Wunderbare Unterkunft, toller Ausblick, tolle Gastgeber

Toller Empfang mit leckerem Essen, Wein, Olivenöl. Wunderschöne Aussicht, mitten in der Natur, tolle Ausstattung, sehr saubere und gepflegte Anlage. Bei Fragen hat der Vermieter direkt reagiert. Besser gehts nicht! Gerne kommen wir wieder.

Einfach toll!

Wir hatten 2 wunderschöne Wochen in dieser tollen Villa. Herzliche stets gut zu kontaktierende Gastgeber. Wir wurden sogar bekocht und das Essen war superlecker! Das Haus ist perfekt ausgestattet und mit viel Liebe eingerichtet. Gute Betten, darin kann man wirklich entspannen. Tolle Aussicht und die Lage mitten in den Bergen war genau das, was wir gesucht haben! Einfach herrlich. Wir haben uns super wohl gefühlt und wir kommen gerne wieder!
