About this property

Your retreat at Wake Robin begins with a mile-long drive through wooded dunes, opening up to elevated views of Lake Michigan. This 60-acre estate features private beachfront, beach deck, firepit & hiking trails.

The Main House can host 10 adults. Enjoy large gathering spaces, hot tub, fireplaces and plenty of deck seating. Our neighboring Writer's Cabin sleeps an additional 6 adults and can be rented together or separately. Homes are separated by a dune for privacy. Beach & yard are shared.

BEACH DECK: Redesigned beach stairs with a deck at the bottom for families to enjoy elevated views of Lake Michigan. The deck is intended to make beach toys, kayaks and SUP boards easily accessible for guests.

Built in 1981, Wake Robin was designed by a renowned, local architect specializing in contemporary design. It was among the first open concept floor plan homes in West Michigan, designed with large gathering spaces for renters to enjoy Lake Michigan year-round. A hot tub, outdoor firepit, 2 indoor fireplaces, private beach access and hiking trails throughout the grounds are just a few of the features offered at this home.

On the Main Level...
A spacious kitchen with in-island oven to enjoy the lakeview while making dinner. There is plenty of seating between the breakfast nook, dining table and outdoor patio seating. The kitchen is stocked with all dinnerware for kids and adults.The living room's unique sofa makes it easy to configure the space for game night or conversations while enjoying the lakeview. Sliders surround the living room for easy access onto the patio.

The Primary bedroom has a King-size bed, fireplace, soaking tub, stone shower, walk-in closet and lakeview.
The two guest rooms feature King-size beds, a jack & jill bathroom, walk-in closet and sliding doors to small patios. The "green" guest room can be arranged with TWO Twin beds or ONE King bed.

Upstairs...
An additional bedroom features a King-sized bed, walk-in closet and full bathroom. The upstairs guest room can be arranged with TWO Twin beds or ONE King bed.
The adjoining Bunk Room has a cozy trundle bed suited for 2-3 kids or 2 young adults.

Panoramic views, peaceful location, spacious home

We had a great visit over winter break. The property manager provided us with an endless amount of firewood as we enjoyed sitting in the living room watching the waves crashing below. The home has a great layout, bedrooms well separated so kids can sleep while parents stay up and enjoy the fire.

This Place is a Dream! Outstanding Property!

An epic home with amazing views, specifically the sunsets! Hands down our best VRBO experience of all time!! First the property’s pictures don’t do it justice. It’s really just impossible to capture its beauty. I can safely say that the home is much better in real life than the pictures. The views are unbeatable! The location is absolutely perfect! The home is located where you’re close to all the activities but not too close to hustle and bustle. The home is very spacious and the rooms are big and clean! We were a group of 8, who had a very memorable stay at Wake Robin! Being perched up above the beach with water views from every part of the house. Ohhhh the sunsets… they are the best that you’ll see in Holland! The property is 5 star!! The real pleasure is the house help. From top to bottom they answered and accomplished 8 half crazed people’s demands and needs with ease. They were always there to address our needs (food, groceries, etc) and kept the home very neat. A perfect home to go to with friends! A truly memorable experience…..I definitely recommend it and plan to be back!

A magical retreat!

The property and property manager went above and beyond expectations. This was a weekend I hope we all remember forever! The home was iconic, the view took our breath away, and there was a serenity that about the property that made you immediately relax. A true oasis and gorgeous mid century modern home! Family Christmas 2020

Prior to our check-in Casey promptly and thoroughly answered all questions via email. When we arrived on the property the lights in the house were on, creating a fabulous first impression. Every room was tastefully decorated and the artwork and ceilings were spectacular. Seven of the eleven doorwalls overlooked lake Michigan. Kitchen and Bathrooms were exceptionally equipped. Be sure to read the history of the property and the house. From start to finish, Wake Robin was an extraordinary experience! We look Forward to returning.

Amazing getaway!

The house and property were gorgeous! The house itself was spacious and perfect for a group of 10, including 4 kids. We never felt like we were on top of each other. What a peaceful and relaxing place! We visited early Fall, and the weather reflected that. The sound of the waves on the lake was hypnotic. This was a perfect place for a family celebration and retreat from the city.

Beautiful & Special Property

We had a beautiful weekend with our families at Wake Robin. Both houses were exceptional and unique, with lovely details everywhere. The views of Lake Michigan were spectacular during the day and we enjoyed expansive skies at night after fires. We also loved all of the art in both houses. The homes were full of everything we could have needed and we certainly hope to return in the future. Thanks so much!!

Gorgeous setting, great stay!!

We love this property! It was our second stay. Casey is amazing to work with!!! It is a beautiful house in a beautiful setting. Not only do you get the beautiful Lake Michigan view but you have the gorgeous woods and all of the wildlife. It is also close to Holland and Grand Haven if you chose to leave the cottage. Highly recommend!

Above & Beyond our Expectations

This property was above and beyond our expectations!! The Lake House, which I would say Glass House, because wherever you were inside you could see Lake MI and the beautiful yard. Our family of 7 stayed for 1 week and we never went out to eat because it was just too beautiful to not eat outside for every meal. Our evening entertainment were the sunsets. The size of the house and the serenity of being on 60 private acres and 900 private feet on Lake MI. was surreal. This was our 1st VRBO and we were definitely spoiled by this place. I'm sure we'll be back.

A truly outstanding location and holiday home! Perfect place to relax.

The property is located on the edge of Lake Michigan with stunning views and easy access to the beach. The house is set in a forest down a long lane but this adds to the peace and tranquillity. The property itself is well equipped and beautifully decorated. The generous open plan living space has incredible views over the Lake with 900 ft private beach. The bedrooms are well appointed and very comfortable. This is a home you will not want to leave - true paradise! Book it now !

The main house was built in 1981, leaving the historic "Writer's Cabin" as a guest house. Wake Robin was designed by a renowned, local architect specializing in contemporary design and was among the first open concept floor plan homes in West Michigan. Over the dining area/kitchen is a solar heating system we can about guarantee you have never seen before! It was seen at the World Trade Fair and purchased for installation during the original construction. It is no longer operational, but remains as an important element of the home’s history.

We have changed very little about the home other than cosmetic updates over the years. The kitchen and all bathrooms were updated in Spring 2016. It has been our goal with each update to keep its modern, retro feel. Wake Robin has thoughtfully programmed gathering spaces making it easy and comfortable for everyone to be together when not enjoying time on Lake Michigan. The main floor of the home features an open floor plan, spacious kitchen island with plenty of room for more than one to be prepping meals or hanging out on bar stools at the kitchen island. Sliding doors outline the deck off the dining area and living room. Three of the bedrooms, including the master, conveniently surround the common areas. The fourth bedroom is on the second floor and has it’s own three-quarter bath, a large walk-through closet, as well as another side room off of the main room with crib. Two of the guestrooms have twin beds that can convert into a king beds, which we will happily prepare to your liking ahead of time. The master and third guest room both have king beds.
