The host let us know that the boiler was turned off as required by law in Italy and coincided with my co-worker's May 21 arrival. The problem was they also turned off the hot water heater. It took 4 days to get the hot water turned on in the apartment.
The host insisted that we communicate through WhatsApp, but the VRBO website asks the all communication go through the VRBO messaging board. I had not used WhatsApp before. The host insisted that all her other American guests used the app.
There was a problem with the toilet continuously running. It gushed at such a rate that it was impossible to sleep. This happened on 2 separate occasion.
It was inconvenient to have to wait for the repairman for the hot water heater and the toilet repairs.
There is an elevator, but be warned it does not stop on the same floor as the apartment!
The microwave would not run unless the plug was pushed in and held with continuous pressure.
The TV did not work. When the repair person came over to check the TV, it turned out that all that was required was replacing the batteries in the remote.
It would be helpful if in the future someone would check to see if there is hot water, the microwave works, the TV turns on and that the toilet is in good working order.
The host was incredibly rude and unsympathetic to the problems my co-worker incurred at the apartment.
