Lune Mill River House

Lune Mill house, Lune Mill Road in the far South

Only one of its kind. Once the timber mill manager's house. On the edge of world heritage wilderness and beautiful waterways. Absolute waterfront, perched on the banks of one of the world's most pristine rivers.

Rustic but comfortable with power, plenty of hot water, digital tv. 3 bedrooms 1 double, 1 family room( queen bed and bunks) 1 bedroom with bunks (king single) . Up to 8 persons but prefer couples. Prefer you to bring own linen as we are on tank water however we have an emergency supply. Total peace and quiet.

Do not be expecting luxury, it is not , it is our holiday home with gum boots in the corner. If you are after night life and restaurants this is not for you. If you are after 5 star luxury this is not for you. If you are a serious bushwalker, caver, etc , fossiker, or like us, just want to chill out by the open fire or fish from the jetty it is just the spot. Fancy getting cooked? Enjoy our wood-heated outdoor bath by the riverside.

Adventure

We understood it was a 100 year old house that was rustic so we were prepared for anything. Loved our stay. Comfortable beds and good showers so no complaints. Caught a fish from the jetty. I would love to do the Reno's on the house while keeping the character of the house. We loved the seclusion and quiet. It was all quite an adventure.

Distressing

The outdoor lawn and access to the river is beautiful and nicely maintained. The smell of dampness and dust inside caused us to feel uncomfortable and we didnt stay. I have lictures of the thick layers of dust onthe ornaments fron the kitchen bench, the lanterns, the saddle, the velvet curtains, the kitche curtains covering the kitchen utensils, the cracked paint in corners of fhe wall and so pn.

Sunrise Stay at Lune Mill River House

We had a wonderful few days staying at the Lune Mill River House. It was great to wake up, open the curtains, and see the sun rise on the river from the bed. The view of the river was amazing.

Beautiful location

We booked this accommodation as a 4-day fieldwork base. The mill house has its idiosyncrasies. As long as you set your expectations for camping conditions in a remote part of the world, you will find the structure to be sufficient. The location is spectacular and the jetty is very impressive. All team members expressed their satisfaction with their stay and would book it again for similar work.

Autumn get away at Lune river

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at this historic, character filled property set in such a beautiful location. It's not for those seeking ultimate cleanliness and new style interior but for us it had the atmosphere we enjoy. We look forward to returning in the future

Lune River Magic

This is a beautiful location, the house is very old and eclectic but well kept. Very suitable for our family. Fans are needed for hot days as the house can get stuffy.

Good spot

Amazing location, beautiful. It is a rustic and eclectic house. A real tassie shack, a very relaxed vibe. It was good to read the description and reviews to know how to plan accordingly. Great communication and we were accomodated for, thank you. I would bring some kayaks next time to get on the river.

Fancy catching a fish?

Our little boy caught his first fish from the jetty at the back. They fairly jump out of the water. Second to none in location: also near Hastings cave and hot springs as well as Ida Bay historic railway.. The owner is delightful to communicate with. Highly recommended.

Fantastic house and view

we had such a great time at the Mill house. Wood fires were enough to keep us warm, great beds and very welcome electric blankets. The property is beautiful, it must be spectacular in the spring/summer. We caught a few fish-salmon and trout, on the river , it was just magic on the dock. Loved the geese, even the naughty one. very quiet and secluded, but still close enough to drive to everything we wanted to see in the Huon valley. Thanks for a wonderful week.

A beautiful stay right on the river

We had a fantastic time in Lune River. The accommodation is just as described. Upon arrival we were greeted by a pair of geese under the plum tree. There are many plum trees with delicious fruit ready for eating (early February). The house is rustic, spacious and right on the river. The fire was ready to light which was lovely during the rainy part of our stay. The deck is literally over the river and a fantastic place to relax. We headed down the road and did the walk at Cockle Beach to the southern most point of Australia. We loved our stay at Lune River and would definitely come back here next time.
