Our beautiful comfortable modern architecturally designed home is finished to a five star level & is available for rental throughout the year. It will appeal to couples and families seeking peace, tranquility, comfort set in beautiful safe location. It has been designed in an open plan style. The mature secure gardens feature a Liscannor stone patio outside the kitchen and living rooms allowing the large doors to be opened out on sunny days bringing the gardens and views into the home. A stone path makes its ways through the grass to a large wooden deck looking down onto the river below where a large BBQ allows for outdoor cooking & dinning. The garden and decking have outdoor lighting and an outdoor power supply.

Local amenities and activities include shops, supermarkets, restaurants, pubs, river cruising, fishing, sailing, canoing, walking, hiking, cycling, boat hire, golfing and much more. The purpose built tourist office is located on the historic 13 arch bridge that's links Ballina & Killaloe. It houses the tourist office, local library and the newly developed Brian Ború Centre. Every Sunday morning a local farmers market offering all sorts of local produce from food to gifts takes place 'between the waters' opposite the tourist office and should not be missed. Ballina has many good restaurants and pubs including the exceptional 'Cherrytree restaurant'. Killaloe has a network of charming narrow streets, flanked by old shops & houses, that climb up the steep hillside & look down over the 13th century cathedral. Water sports are the key to the popularity of Ballina & Killaloe. Boats of all kinds from rowing boats to cabin cruisers are available for hire and water-skiing has long been popular. Short tours of the River Shannon and Lough Derg are available from the Ballina side aboard the 50-seater passenger boat Spirit of Killaloe. During July the Brian Boru Festival brings traditional music and a variety of entertainment, inside and outside, to the towns for a week. Towards the end of July the Killaloe International Music Festival centered on the historic cathedral, concentrates on the classics and is growing in reputation around the world. Every September, Killaloe is the venue for the European Pike Angling Championships. The historic towns of Killaloe & Ballina offer an exceptionally beautiful riverside setting and access to Ireland’s greatest waterway. The River Shannon & Erne system is a popular cruising, boating & angling destination extending from Donegal in the northwest of the country, with canal extensions to Galway in the west, Dublin in the east and Waterford in the south all the way to Limerick where it enters the Atlantic Ocean at Foynes where a historic seaplane museum tells the story of transatlantic air travel and the invention of Irish coffee.

Our property is located just 30 minutes from Shannon airport, 20 minutes from Limerick, 1 hour from Galway, 1 hour 45 minutes from Dublin Airport, it is an ideal base for exploring Ireland and it's Celtic heritage.

We look forward to welcoming you to this unique part of beautiful historic Ireland.

Fabulous House

We all had a fantastic time in your beautiful property, the views are absolutely stunning and so close to all amenities and a great location for trips out in the south . The house was well equipped and is a perfect size for our family of 7 it was home from home ,The beds are really comfortable and all the rooms are really spacious throughout the house .We would of loved to spend more time in the beautiful garden but unfortunately the weather wasn’t at its best that week . The only thing we were a little disappointed with was the cleanliness of the house as we felt it needed a spring clean , other than that we has an amazing time thanks The Hills , Fosters and Pennington

Charming comfortable home on the river

We arrived early at the Dublin airport , even though we arrived at the house ahead of schedule they accommodated us and were very gracious. They provided all the information we needed to enjoy our time in the charming villages of Killaloe and Ballina . We were able to use this as a central location to visit the places we wanted to tour including Blarney Castle, Bunratty Castle, Sixmilebridge, as well as Cork and Limerick. We cannot recommend this highly enough . The house is well equipped with everything you would need. The deck is lovely and we enjoyed some time by the river. Both villages have excellent restaurants and pubs. Grocery shopping was also close by . The listing description was accurate. The property was spotless and well maintained.

A must stay place if you visit Ireland

Wow what a stunning house in and an amazing location. All communications with David were prompt and professional. He sent us everything we needed to know for our visit including plenty of ideas for things to see & do in the area. The directions and check in process were easy. We found the house exactly as described on the website. It was equipped with everything that we needed and many more homely touches we weren't expecting. Eamon the property manager met us on arrival and showed us about the house and gave us plenty of suggestions for places to eat in the town which were all within walking distance. Thanks you to David, Roisin & Eamon for making our amazing vacation extra special, we will be back. Our stay exceeded our expectations. Danny & Heather B Boston

Paradise

A BIG thanks to David and Roisin for a making our trip a wonderful stay! We feel fortunate to have met two extraordinarily wonderful people in the process! They went above and beyond in making sure that our visit was 1st class! (Their caretaker Eamon and his wife Mariah are gems too! They were very helpful and accommodating with anything we might need.) We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay than your house on the Shannon River. We especially enjoyed sitting out on the deck in the evening after returning from a day of exploring with a glass in hand and admiring the gorgeous view! You have a very comfortable home in a super location! We spent time exploring the quaint little towns of Ballina and Killaloe. It's an amazing area with some great pubs, restaurants and shops- all within walking distance! Plus, we were able to venture out and explore Ireland on many day trips. There are a multitude of breathtaking places to see!!! We plan to return some day to experience the rest of the island. It is beautiful there and the people are so welcoming! If you are reading this review and get a chance to visit, you should definitely go for it! We look forward to seeing you again in the future! Cheers and Happy travels! Karen and Jerry August 2018

An AMAZING property in an AMAZING location

From the start of our inquiry to checking out and beyond, the Owner David and Property Manager Eamon could not have been more helpful. When we arrived Eamon was on site to give us the house keys and provide us with all local information required. It took me to concentrate on what he was saying as the views at the back of the house were breathtakingly beautiful!! The house was stunning. The quality of furnishings was of a very high standard, the beds and bedding so comfortable it was hard to get up in the morning. En suite accommodation and ample towels was a great comfort. We were a party of 7 adults and the large house accommodated us very easily. We so enjoyed the big dining room table where we ate hearty Irish food and enjoyed the craic. The back garden was beautiful even covered in snow and sitting inside with the log fire going it was a site to behold. the washing machine and tumble dryer was also very handy, as was bringing my mother who couldn't help washing and cooking for us all. Ballina is a lovely little town as is Killaloe across the River Shannon and is very well placed to drive from Shannon airport. it has very quaint Irish pubs, restaurants and shops, all making you feel so welcome. The local hotel allowed us to print of our boarding passes which was really appreciated and the local Priest gave a very interesting mass, I so loved how he included the children in the service. We were there with my parents to celebrate my fathers 80th birthday and visited Terryglass to see our great grand-parents grave, home (or what is left of the 18th Century cottage) village and Irish relatives - A very moving experience. We would love to return again to this property in the summer months, so David, watch out for our next booking!!!!!

Great property

We had a lovely stay. It is a great location to explore the surrounding area and the view from the house is amazing. We were a little bit disappointed with the cleanliness though, especially the bed linens. We decided to wash them and found severely stained duvets and pillows underneath. Overall we would recommend this property.

Perfect Family Getaway

Having previously lived in Ireland, and visited in recent years, this was our first time staying with children. I must say that this was the perfect home-base for our family! The house was spacious enough for my family of 4 (2 adults, 1 child, 1 infant), my parents, and a friend. We all felt very comfortable in the home and not on top of each others' toes as you would in a hotel or bed and breakfast. The house also felt very much like a home which helped our kids adjust quite easily, not only to the time-change but also to being in a new place. Having visited in February, the weather was not particularly warm, so we were unable to spend much time in the back garden; however the views of the Shannon and the hills were stunning and beautiful. The accessibility of town was wonderful, as well. It was nice not to have to take a car everywhere and just spend some time locally - whether it be at a local pub or coffee shop, or taking the children to the playground (which they loved!). The location of this house is in one of the more stunning areas of Ireland. Beautiful views all around, and just a short drive away from tourist destinations within Co. Clare or Tipperary. Cork is not too far either if you want to visit the Zoo there. My husband and I did an overnight stay in Dublin and even that was just a short 2 hr drive - really not far if you plan accordingly. The one place our kids loved was Bunratty Castle which is really only 20-30 min from house - definitely a tourist spot, but still fun and enjoyable for the whole family. We would definitely recommend their home to friends and family, and would stay again ourselves. But, we are moving back to Ireland in 3 weeks, so we will have our own place to call home - if only we could live on the Shannon and have the stunning views as this home!

As Advertised and MUCH MUCH More

We had a magical time in your Ballina property. What an ideal location, glorious view, and comfortable home. We loved walking to Ballina and Killaloe, taking the historic walking tours, and enjoying the home. There were 8 of us and the lovely living room, kitchen and back yard on the river gave us plenty of room. We had 5 days of sun with blue skies and billowy clouds. We were also in town for the 1000 year celebration of Brian Boru. Ironically it was the day after our 4th of July, so we appreciated the fireworks. I will be your best salesperson in the USA. PERFECT Irish experience!

The listing is described accurately, the house was immaculate and clean, the owner was available for any questions we had throughout our stay and we would highly recommend this home for a true Irish experience! Nestled in one village and across the river from another this house is in a perfect river-front location to explore both villages with just a short walk over the bridge. We thoroughly enjoyed visiting the local restaurants and pubs getting to know the locals who were very friendly. This home is also in a central location for day trips to many of Ireland's famous tourist attractions - Cliffs of Moher, Blarney Castle and Ring of Kerry!

Great stay!

We found this house to in a terrific location amid 2 charming little towns. We chose this site because we wanted to explore much of the south of Ireland and this was a great location to use as our homebase. On our 4th day we took the train to Dublin to experience a bit of Ireland's urban life -- we caught the train less than 2 miles away from the house in Birdhill. Geraldine (the property caretaker) was of great help when we arrived and when we called with a question. Our only suggestion would be to also post a picture of the front of the house. Since the front and back are so dramatically different, we thought we were at the wrong location when we arrived and circled the neighborhood twice looking for the house in the picture (this picture shows the back -- the front has a single-level look).

Great house, Great location!

This house is perfect for a vacation in Ireland! We are a family of 7 and we had ample space for our 10 day vacation. The kitchen had everything we needed to be able to make meals. The house was clean and had more than enough linens. We ended up doing day trips each day, and stayed one night in Dublin. The location of the Derg House is perfect for seeing West, South and Central Ireland. Our kids were amazed with how much of the country we were able to see in such a short time. We loved the Killaloe-Ballina area, and wish we could return in the summer time. Goosers(pub/restaurant) was fabulous; we would end up there after a day of touring for a good meal and nice reception. I would highly recommend the Derg House for an Ireland holiday!

Lovely, lovely setting

We had the pleasure and good fortune of visiting during an incredibly beautiful week and we all enjoyed the view from the many windows of the house as well as sitting out on the patio over looking the river. The twin towns are very charming and the location is great for day trips around central and south western Ireland. The house is very comfortable and convenient. Our party of 8 was a bit tight in turns of beds [not crazy about 2 adults sharing a double bed], but bathrooms were plentiful! With 8 women that was a plus! The house has a few small repairs needed and the more comfortable beds would be nice :-) Would like to give it 4 1/2 stars but alas, not an option.

The Pictures provided tell the story

This home is just as presented in the photos. A dream home in an idyllic setting. We spent a week in May; taking day trips to different parts of Ireland. Killaloe was our favorite place - and, we were so fortunate to be able to stay there. We walked everywhere; pubs, markets, hiking trails, restaurants.

My family and I stayed here for a week in December and we had a wonderful time. The house has everything you could want or need and is a perfect basis to go sight seeing in Ireland. It was quite cold during our stay but the house was lovely and warm and felt very cosy. The property is well looked after and modern. Will definitely be returning when we come to Ireland again.
