Located within the the oldest building on the historic Downtown Mall, this spacious, architecturally renovated loft-style apartment boasts a sophisticated style while maintaining plenty of its original historic charm. This award-winning apartment received the Virginia AIA "Merit Award for Excellence in Interior Design."

You will relish in the inventive industrial modern decor and the unique features of the apartment, right down to the exposed original brick wall and wood from the owner's family farm that was used to complete the space. The tall ceilings and ample windows create an airy feeling, giving you the ability to peer right in on the bustling action of the Downtown Mall. The location places some of Charlottesville's best restaurants, shopping and live arts right at your fingertips; enjoy the convenience of the numerous cafes for your morning coffee and a casual stroll on the Downtown Mall to your evening activities.

Please note that the windows and skylights do not have coverings. While this is a third floor space, it does allow natural light to enter in to the space. The loft bedroom maintains privacy due to the placement of the windows. This is a third floor walk-up, so note that all guests must be able to manage steps.

Our Stay at the Loft

We had a great time at the loft! It's beautifully furnished and located perfectly on the downtown mall. However, if you plan to sleep before 11 pm on weekends, I'd recommend using earplugs due to the noise. Also, the lock on the front door was extremely difficult to open, which felt like a safety concern as it took multiple attempts to enter or exit the property. Despite this, when we called the emergency line for help, someone answered promptly and stayed on the phone with us until we were able to open the lock successfully.

Downtown C'ville apartment

Great place for a couples getaway!! Very Euro style. The stairs are a thing, but as long as you know going in and don't have limitations isn't a big deal(we're in our 50's and managed fine). Bright and airy, loved all the natural light from the sky lights. If visiting in summer when the sun comes up pretty early, I'd suggest a sleep mask. The location is very centrally located, with plenty of dinning options right out the front door. Wasn't much happening in the way of night life during our visit, but I can imagine during the warmer months there may be more activity right outside the windows. Only thing we didn't care for is having to go down the stairs in the middle of the night if yo needed to use the bathroom, wouldn't stop me from staying here again though. No issues with parking, was easy to find and get in and out of.

Great location steps from restaurants and shopping. Only 20 minutes from lots of wineries. Open concept living. Only drawbacks are the bathroom is downstairs, and you need to dress upstairs bc there are windows with no curtains/blinds. Sun fills the upstairs loft in the a.m.

Great stay. Really enjoyed being right on the mall. Just make sure you read all the directions as the parking lot is close to the apt just not right next to the parking lot. We can't wait to come back and stay again.

Spacious and light filled loft right on the downtown mall. Great parking and access to shops and restaurants. Staircase to loft bedroom has very short steps so extra care needed coming down.

Great location and stay

I was impressed with the property and enjoyed the stay. Would recommend this property to a friend. Only con about the stay was the door code changed on us however the property manager was able to resolve the issue quickly.

Fabulous place!

We loved everything about the property. Location can’t be beat, was very clean, and very well decorated. I cannot rave enough about the design and look! If we come back to Charlottesville we will definitely stay here again.

Great Location

Property was very clean and in a good location. My husband and I did read the listing about the light and no shades on the windows. I didn’t realize that there was a street light that stays on for a good portion of the night so bring a sleep mask. There is also a bar right next to the property that stays open late and there was a lot of noise until 2am. But you can’t beat the location, walking distance to restaurants, bars and Ting Pavillon. Once we found the parking it was close and easy to get to the apartment with luggage.

Amazing Stay!

I really enjoyed my stay at this property... the modern look/feel, the beautiful sunlight pouring in every morning, and the quiet energy of the downtown Charlottesville area may for an enjoyable time. In the future, I hope the Wood Company Loft is available when I travel to the area.

Great Location

On the downtown mall with lots of restaurants and bars. Really great location for those reasons. Check in process with the keypad on the door was problematic but solved once we had a key. Lots of stairs if that is a problem for some people. Wasn’t a big problem for us. Parking is convenient but the lot gets full at busy times. Really like the condo. Very interesting set up.

BEWARE!!

A letter prior to our check in was sent. Instructions for parking, wifi, building code but NO INFORMATION how to get into the apartment. We called for 3 hours with no response to our urgent message. We finally went to the office address to do this in person. Got to the office address and the business did not exist there!! We then went to City Hall to see if the management company was legit. Seeking Better Business Bureau complaints. Out daughter in law said she knew the “owner” of the business and put a direct call to him. Voila!!! We got a return phone call with instructions how to get in. This apartment requires 3 flights of steep metal stairs. The bedroom loft has no bathroom. You Have to walk down steep metal stairway to access bathroom. We are in our late 60s. None of this was revealed. Poor rating for mispresentation.

This place is AMAZING!!!! First of all it’s in the heart of downtown Charlottesville.

This place is AMAZING!!!! First of all it’s in the heart of downtown Charlottesville. There are great restaurants, shops & entertainment steps away. The interior is completely upgraded, very cool modern with a warm feel. Top of the line appliances and super soft towels & sheets. There’s a big window that opens up to the downtown mall below, situated such that you can see the happenings without those below seeing you. We’re planning our Spring break now and this will be one of our stays for sure!

Location, Location, Location!!! Enjoy big city luxury, embedded with true Charlottesville hospitality and charm! Amazing architecture, classic lines, hidden doors, glass rooms, warm brick walls, high ceilings accented with shipyard beams, spacious lead pane windows making the space light and bright! Decorated with humor, style and intelligence. This stylish 3 story loft unit – is centrally located in the best spot in town – LITERALLY! “Lofting” above the heart of the downtown historic mall and in the center of where everything happens: Dining, Shopping, Entertainment and Charlottesville culture and community literally right outside your door - all one step away! You can’t ask for a better spot to drop your bags and take in all that Charlottesville has to offer! We walked everywhere we went! Enjoyed grabbing hot specialty lattes and pastries around the corner, leisurely lunches outside in the center of the Mall Walk, taking in the Farmer’s Market one block away off of the main Downtown Mall, and we walked to one of the oldest and best restaurants in town! C & O! What an enjoyable, historic experience. We will definitely come back to Charlottesville – and make sure we can stay at this amazingly located welcoming and luxurious loft!

Great location on the Downtown Mall, close to restaurants, bars, theaters and public garages (2min walk to Water St parking garage). 20min walk to the university. The apartment entry is on the 2nd floor, living/dining area and bathroom are on the 3nd floor and there's a sleeping loft so there's definitely a lot of going up and down the stairs but the interior design is outstanding! The apartment is very bright and airy, and has some unique features like wood walls and see-through stairs. Everything was very clean. We'd definitely stay here again!
