True experience seekers will love living on the edge of the Pacific Ocean in a recently refurbished and fully insulated double glazed tiny home aka The Cape View Shed. Set in a quiet beachfront residential location exuding seaside charm with a magnificent view of Hawke Bay and an uninterrupted view of Cape Kidnappers.
Capture the sun and moon rising while relaxing in the cedar hot tub which is chlorine free and uses a spa treatment containing colloidal silver. On occasion witness a seal sunbathing or a pod of dolphins swimming out at sea.
The Cape View Shed is a light filled space with open plan living/sleeping with a separate bathroom with twin Italian basins, one for washing dishes and one for personal hygiene both with modern gooseneck taps. Suited for maximum of two guests. The accommodation provides a queen size bed and a small single divan bed. Kitchenette with microwave and fridge only. Smart TV. External caravan plug. Macrocarpa decking areas are for your sole use as is the Weba BBQ. You are welcome to use the fire pit also. Two bikes are available on request at time of booking to explore the coast via the cycle paths.
Approximately 700 metres to Elephant Hill winery. Also very close to Clearview and Te Awanga Estate Wineries. A two minute walk to the Brown Dog Coffee Cart, Four Square, Gannets Bar & Grill and Capeview takeaways.
The accommodation also has the Cape View Cottage located on the site, being the owners private holiday home. When the cottage is in use the Cape View Shed is made unavailable on the website to ensure your privacy. The cottage has separate outdoor areas to the roadside lawn and verandas to the seaside which you are welcome to enjoy also. Your privacy is our priority.
The property is fully fenced and gated with off street parking. Visit the Gannet Sanctuary or play golf at Cape Kidnappers. The fact the Cape View Shed is excitingly close to the Pacific Ocean is the magic of the place. You will hear the sea and at times the sea can be wild.
The outdoor areas are elevated above the stoney beach and are protected by a big sea wall which is a handy spot to fish from. There is access down to the waterfront which you can walk along in low tide.
This is a holiday experience out of the ordinary.

Perfect location on the beach near shops bar and several vineyards. Cosy accommodation but has everything we need , the spa and star gazing and listening to the sea was amazing a we loved it
Wanted quiet time with husband, sea view, with sound of waves in my ears as I feel asleep. And that's exactly what we got, with hot tub soak - bonus!Experienced 4 seasons during short stay but still had a lovely time. Just too cosy! A wee gem of a site. Long may you continue (waves so close you can touch!)
The unit is warm, charming and cosy and just right for two people. Right on the ocean front, the crashing waves regale you throughout the day and night providing a relaxing vibe.We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the area itself has a certain ruggedness around it, keeping you in-tune with the ocean.
The Cape View was a very cute location. Unfortunately, the weather was not great for the three nights we stayed there (but that wasn’t the host’s doing!) so we were unable to make the most of the great outdoor spaces. Access to the hot tub and BBQ was greatly appreciated. Some hanger space would have been useful but we knew there was unlikely to be such space. Great location for what we had planned in the area and super quiet (when the waves weren’t splashing up!). Highly recommended.
Stayed here before. Just as lovely as last time! The accommodation is delightful and cosy in a quiet location and has a lovely spa pool and gorgeous sea view. There’s a pub and grocer a minutes walk over the road. We’d like to return again for another stay!
We had a wonderful stay at the Haumoana Beach Bach! Cozy, comfortable, and in the perfect location for the Te Awanga Wine Festival. A great spot to relax and enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Would definitely stay again!
We loved relaxing on the expansive deck and soaking up amazing views of the sea and Cape Kidnappers. The hot tub was an added bonus. You can’t get any closer to the ocean than this!
A very special place to stay! To be so close to the sea and yet have such seclusion is novel. We slept so well here, and unwinding was very easy... The little treats did not go unnoticed!Thank you so much.Roger and Dianne
What a beautiful place to stay! Our host was so welcoming and even opened their own home so I could cook dinner for friends also staying in the area. The area is handy for good coffee, meals, the beach, and wineries. I would recommend this place and will stay again. thank you.
My husband and I stayed at Jane’s lovely spot in Haumoana and it was a wee slice of paradise. Communication prior was thorough, warm, and friendly - and everything was exactly as we had imagined it would be upon arrival.
The small thoughtful touches like chocolates and local wine (Elephant Hill Winery, just a bike ride down the road) waiting for us (it was my husband’s birthday), the great tips for a successful stay in the area, the free loan of two bikes to explore, and the plethora of clean towels for the hot tub and the showers made the stay extra special. We so enjoyed the colour and warmth of the village - a Four Square and a fish and chip shop walking distance from the bach - we got fresh Bluff oysters for a very reasonable price, as well as free limes from a neighbour. Exceptional value for money - going to sleep and waking up listening to the ocean lap the beach just outside our bedroom window was a peaceful treat. Highly recommend and will be staying again. Thank you so much for sharing your piece of paradise.
Beautiful accommodation in a beautiful location. We were spoilt with good weather but everything about the bach makes a perfect getaway. The spa is devine, the location is perfect and the bach is very comfortable and cosy. Thank yoi for the special extras and the use of the bicycles were just great. We look forward to staying again soon.
Location was amazing .. watching and listening to the waves whilst soaking in the hot tub was paradise .. all the amenities we needed in a very cosy bach with the added luxury of the vineyards close by
Fantastic property to stay at close to the winery's central to both Havelock North and Napier. The outdoor area was amazing and the hot tub a real bonus. Communication was great and it was clean and tidy. Will be back again
The Cape View was a perfect stop on our trip through New Zealand. Being right on the water, the sound of the ocean waves made for a soothing and relaxing break after several days of hectic travel and activities. The hot tub offered that extra opportunity to unwind after the bike ride along the coast to Clive.
The accommodations were spotless and well-equipped.
Our hosts, Jane and Mark, were extremely responsive and went out of their way to make our stay comfortable.
Our only regret is that we only booked for 2 nights.
We stayed in this cute shed by the sea for 3 nights. You won’t find anywhere closer to the ocean in NZ (unless you are on a boat!). There are plenty of places on the property to sit and relax, including the hot tub! Location is excellent with 3 wineries within walking distance. The local bar and takeaway shop are excellent. There is a great bike track from the front gate. Highly recommended.

My husband Mark and I love to travel. We are now enjoying our own country and after having traveled the South Island October/November 2020 we found out what we desired in holiday accommodation so we have tried our best to deliver in a small space what we hope you will appreciate also. We wish you to discover for yourselves the enjoyment to be found here. Fondly known by family and the locals as The Cape View Shed. A great base for a getaway.
