This was my first time to the area and I loved it. The Doghouse Cabin was perfect for me and my dog. The chocolate chip cookies were fantastic! We enjoyed the on site trails for morning walks. Tee is one of the most welcoming and friendly person I’ve ever met. Very easy access and proximity to Traverse City and Interlochen. We will for sure be back!
We really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. We were welcomed with an absolutely delicious cupcake and blueberry crumb bars. The fridge, microwave, stove, supplies were all we needed. Our 3yo daughter stayed on the futon and my husband and I slept in the very soft cozy bed. We enjoyed a fire at dusk, the playground during the day, and the row boats and paddle boats with my husband's family. The water pressure in the shower is not great, but that's probably to save hot water from the water heater (we never ran out). The towels were softer and nicer than I would have expected in a cabin! The road noise from 31 at the doghouse was not bad at all, and further back in the property would be even better. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. We look forward to staying here again.
The rental was quiet and in a wooded setting. We were able to launch our boat on the public access and trolled the lake completely by ourselves. There are no houses on the lake and lots of wildlife as we drove around. Caught a large bass and pike and watched a duck float around with her littles not far behind. Nice place to stay.

Cabin stay too long
The cabin was identified as Rustic but compared to our other VRBO stay in Interlochen, this was more like primitive. It may be fine for overnight or a weekend but we were there for 13 nights - too long. Also, housekeeping is spotty - on both visits we had no plates, cups or glasses. On our second day no coffee filters. This was our first use of VRBO and will not use VRBO again, if we can avoid.
We had a wonderful time here. The management was very friendly. Our cottage was very old and small but it suited us perfectly and we enjoyed the quaint charm.
Great location within a half hour of so many fun northern Michigan options - wineries, Traverse City, Sleeping Bear Dunes. Really cute little cabin - only complaint is the very rough shower! Loved having a little campfire one night, cooking veggie dogs and foil potatoes for lunch, and going to visit the little lake. Thank you for hosting our dogs, too! They are elderly and we can't bear to leave them home alone anymore.
Ellis lake resort was just the getaway that my husband and I needed!Cozy as could be,clean, privacy.Row boat on the lake was so much fun...followed by alone time in the jacuzzi...5 STARS
Clean, cozy cabin with a nice hottub and a great piece of land to enjoy nature on!
Communication was top notch and any questions I had were answered within five minutes. I even received a little dessert treat for my birthday! I highly recommend staying here.
The cabins are old and rustic with beautiful charm. They are cozy and have everything you need to be comfortable on your stay. The wood stove added extra coziness on our winter stay. There are walking trails around the property. The hot tub sign up is convenient and ensures that you get a chance to use it without others interrupting. There were fresh baked goods on the table when we walked checked in to the cabin. The owners are nice and accommodating. We REALLY enjoyed our stay!
