The property was stunning and exceeded expectations. This is incredibly well maintained and the pictures did not do it justice. Our group was very pleased with the amenities and condition of the cabin, everything was spotless and comfortable. We had an amazing time and would ABSOLUTELY recommend!
The view is amazing. The house is nice and big. The kitchen was very well equipped. Only challenge was light bulbs out, trash not picked up, no propane tank for the grill.
Our annual family trip to the hills did not disappoint. This cabin was an excellent choice for our family of 14. We all had plenty of space to sleep and visit. The view was perfect, even when the low clouds came in. Cabin was stocked with the necessities we needed. Would recommend trying this cabin out during your Black Hills adventures!!
The cabin is absolutely wonderful and we couldn’t even tell there were 13 of us there. A couple of tips - there are 2 furnaces and the second is controlled in the bunkhouse upstairs. The beautiful old doors show their age and don’t all work real well, so be sure you keep track of the master key.
A short walk to the chalet and some of the most beautiful sunsets you will ever witness await you here. We couldn’t have been happier!!
The Stone Lodge was absolutely beautiful! If you are looking for a place that is isolated, yet close to civilization this is is it! The google map photos do not give justice to just how magical the "forestry road" is to the cabin. It literally feels like you are leaving and heading to a magical place. The sunrises and sunsets? Breathtaking! We saw wildlife daily! Comfortable beds, dreamy fireplace, washer and dryers on each floor (the listing has top loaders, they have been replaced with front loads, plenty of space, access to the lower level by car so if you bring any older folk like we did, there's no need for stair climbing...perfect for our 10 year anniversary! Anne was absolutely amazing to work with and just a phone call away.
But, with perfection comes imperfections. I do not think this places gets a lot of traffic (which is what we wanted), but there we a lot of dead and dying flies in the upper bedrooms upon arrival, which for us country people was not a big deal, but it might bother others. The hand-hewn wood stairs are slippery! Don't go running up and down in socks. No shoes allowed in the cabin so bring some house shoes. The racks in the stove do not fit and had been finagled before us, we managed to make it work because our group does an a lot of in house cooking...but that should be addressed/replaced.
Would stay here again and and again and again! Thank you!!
The cabin was beautiful and spacious. Only downfall was we had to wait two hours past check in time because of the cleaning lady. She was not in a hurry to get the job done at all! There were about 10-12 light bulbs missing or burnt out, so lighting was definitely lacking. We had to do our fair share of sweeping up dead flies in the cabin, and along with that we found a maggot crawling across the floor. Needless to say we were disappointed in that. One other let down was that there was no cleaner/shock for the hot tub. So by the end of our stay the water was looking pretty gross. We had to go collect our own firewood because there wasn’t any on the rack in the cabin or outside.
One suggestion I would have is to put another refrigerator in the basement by the bar area. When you have large groups of people who plan on doing most of the cooking and eating at the cabin the fridge fills up fast!
Other than that we definitely enjoyed our stay. Loved being able to hit a walking trail close by and we definitely enjoyed the view from the deck!
The photos don’t give the view justice! It was spectacular and gave you such an amazing view of the black hills. The sunsets were gorgeous to see off the deck! The space of the cabin was great for a large group where each family had their own space to spread out. It was even doable with small children! We had an amazing time!
House was so big there is plenty of room for large groups. Plenty of bathrooms and never ran out of hot water!! Loved all of it. The sunsets were amazing and the area has so much to do.
this is our favorite home of all time
Great experience! Great place for a large group, very spacious! Had an issue with the front door lock, but property manager was great about getting it fixed in a timely manner. Would definitely stay there again!
The cabin was beautiful. We had 17 family members staying there. The main problem was the curb appeal, the garbage had not been picked up for weeks. We were a bit nervous as to what the inside might look like.
We were told that we could access trails Directly from the home. We had to travel several miles in heavy traffic and road construction to get to trails . The one leaving home was gaited and locked. The home had minimal towels for number of people and had to buy containers to put food in for storage since there were none. There was construction noises starting at 8am and going till7pm. No peaceful time on deck. The pictures and description were very deceptive, making you believe you were isolated when you were in a new community with homes going up everywhere. The trash was never picked up from last renters and we had no place to put our trash except on ground. The grounds were over grown and drive way washed out and we could not take motorcycles down drive safely. We had to buy firewood none provided. We have stayed in numerous homes over years with our kids and their families. This is the first time we have been disappointed. We don't expect perfection but do expect better than this.
This house was a wonderful place for our large family to all be together. LOTS of space. We had an absolutely amazing time and some of the best memories were made.
12 guys stayed here for 5-nights to ride side by sides. The house is nestled high up on a hill that overlooks the valley and miles of scenery. Would definately stay here again.
Very homey cabin with the open concept which made it easy for all of us to be together. Lovely views and close to great hiking and towns. Would recommend it to friends and family members. Also enjoyed the fireplace and hot tub.
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay here and comfortable hosted 15 adults for my husband's 30th birthday celebration. The process was easy and the home is immaculate! Unfortunately, there wasn't enough snow to ski, so we will definitely be back again to enjoy the close slopes.
