Canal house

House was as described. Fenced in yard was great. Unfortunately couldn't let the dogs out by themselves because of the sea hawks/Egrets. We have 2 small Yorkies. Quite neighborhood. Close to a nice park within walking distance.

Very nice!

We enjoyed our first time to the area in this beautiful home! It was well maintained, clean, and beds were very comfortable. The back deck was an awesome place to hang out after outings. The private dock was perfect for our small boats also. Conveniently located to everything around also. Would definitely stay here again!

Beware

There was a fish carcass in the back yard. My 4 year old Lab got stabbed in her shoulder so we had to change our plans and make a trip to the vet. $234.00 later. That brought all of our water plans to a haunt. I think I should be reimbursed for the vet visit at least.

Quick weekend Getaway

This house officially solidified its spot on the top of our list of places to stay when we come to town. The benefit of being able to use the garage to store our double jet ski trailer was a huge plus! We didn’t get the chance to utilize the convenience of the private dock but having the option for future is another thing that will keep us coming back . The pups definitely enjoyed the huge yard and my nap on the hammock was epic.

BACKYARD PEACE

The backyard of this home was so peaceful. Our dog loved the open space to run and play. Our grand daughter loved the hammock and the Hook & Ring game on the deck. We realize that some people have posted that the neighbors were shady however they were not an issue for us. Their home was not kept up however they were quiet and did not bother us. The only issue we had was 1) the bed was very, very firm. If you like a super firm mattress, this is your bed. 2) the furniture was low back and not made for tall people. There were minor things but Robert was very responsive and we loved that. Thank you for everything. The Yeager Family-Tampa Florida

Not as advertised

The property has great potential. It looked like work had been done but definitely not completed. The neighborhood was ok. There’s a great park nearby and it’s close to the beach. The furnishings were early Goodwill and the house next door had junk all around it…think hoarders. The beds were horrible. The backyard was very nice and peaceful. We enjoyed it. There wasn’t any information about where to go, what to do, etc. Like we have always experienced in a VRBO rental. We did get a few recommendations after asking for restaurants. The property managers were nice enough but the property itself was just not up to snuff. We’re seasoned VRBO travelers. It just was not what we expected and it’s not somewhere we would be returning to, unless considerable work is completed on the property

Spring break

This place was great. We travel with our dog and she was so happy to run around in a fenced huge backyard. We spend most of our time on the huge deck. Thanks for letting us stay.

Bad, stayed only 6 of the 14 days.

The houses next door had their front and back yards full of trash. The house looked like it was furnished by Goodwill. The knob was missing on the gas stove, toilet paper holder loose from the wall, the master bed frame stuck out from under the mattress, a number of light bulbs burned out and the TVs didn't have instructions for use (no local channels). I have pictures of these issues. We will not use VRBO or "Faulty Escapes" again.

Perfect Stay

For years we have felt guilty every time we went away without our Aussies. We found this home in Fort Walton Beach and it was perfect for us and allowed us to bring our dogs. The house even came with a dog door. As soon as we walked into the home, we noticed the houses clean "beachy" feel. Barefoot Retreat", was in a residential neighborhood, close to a park, grocery stores, and the downtown, Miracle Strip. It was also close to local beaches. The owner provided everything we needed for our beach trip. We always felt safe and welcomed by the neighbors. Lauren, the property manager, was responsive to everything that we needed. Our 28 days at Barefoot Retreat went so quickly and it was difficult leaving. We plan to be back.

Nice place but needed work

Overall decent place. Cons: No garbage bags, no dish soap, dishwasher didn't work, clothes washer was full of wet towels. Beds were very firm. On the plus side it was dog friendly.

Anniversary Trip

My husband and I really loved staying here. The house was just what we needed for the two of us. The backyard was large with a beautiful deck, we enjoyed fishing and the location was great! Would love to stay again!!

Great House for the Price!

This house is great for the price and was perfect for us because we were able to keep our boat docked in the backyard for our entire stay. It’s only a 10 minute boat ride to Crab Island which was a plus! The location of the house is close to grocery stores and restaurants and less than a 10 minute drive to the boardwalk which was nice. The patio is a great place to relax at night. Plenty of beach toys, life jackets, jetty wagon and more are available in the garage if you need them. The host is awesome!

FWB "hidden gem"

This property is all about location! One block from Ferry Park to enjoy morning walks. Minutes away from any amenity you may need. Best of all was the dock for our boat and canal access to the bay. We also enjoyed the deck and fenced in yard for our dog. Great stay!

Enjoyed our stay

The house was very nice, but had a musty odor. There was garbage in 3 garbage cans when we arrived and the shower curtains could use a wash, however we very much enjoyed the backyard and deck.

Great place for people with dogs

Very happy with the house and management staff. Very clean and awesome party porch. We had one issue with the dishwasher but the management staff sent someone over to fix it. We had to cut our stay short by 3 weeks but will keep this place on the top of our list for our winter stays next year.

COULD BE "A" RATED

The property was nice but the beds (as in, all of them) were horrible. If they had nails, it would have been complete. I had to go buy 3 inch mattress toppers for both the full and king beds that cost me at Walmart close to $200. My daughter slept on the floor with a great mattress we found in the closet. She had the best place to sleep, no lie. They did not have a pitcher to make tea or any powder drink mixes. We used a large mason jar but it had no lid and I personally like to have one on my beverage containers but that's me. The back shower's water pressure was weak, and the dishwasher suddenly turned on and only worked on the last day. The housekeeper prior to our arrival might have been better because when we walked in it smelled like dirty dog, but it was clean. Having said all of this, I would say the place was still lovely. I own several properties myself and thought the owners should know what little things could place this property as an A rated rental immediately. I never called anyone because they did not make this a miserable experience. I would stay again if these things could be done. The fact that they allow pets is awesome, and very comfortable for animal lovers. I thought the layout was great, and the patio was a hit. My kids (both teenage years) really loved the hook game on the deck and the canopy swing was a super good idea as well. Overall, this rental was still worth the price.

R&R at Salty Escapes

Property was clean and ready for our stay. We were able to pull into the garage to unload our things. We enjoyed the covered deck and our dogs enjoyed the fenced backyard. The neighborhood was quiet and we had a nice view of the canal from the house/deck.

Excellent location, VERY pet friendly

Property was just as listed. We planned a last minute trip the night before leaving. Booking process was great. No issues at all with the home. Fenced yard is perfect for any pets you have. Back deck is wonderful for coffee in the morning and wine in the afternoon. Location to main drag and beach is excellent. So many restaurant options. Neighborhood was quiet. Perfect! Will definitely rent again when in the area.
