The space The apartment is in an old building with a great vibe and atmosphere. "Mutual Store" once used to be Melbourne's first department store with all of its glory. The 2BR apartment is spacious with very high ceilings. It is beautifully furnished and well maintained. The floors, bathroom and kitchen have been recently updated. You have fresh sheets and towels at your disposal.
There is a queen bed in the master bedroom. The second bedroom has two single beds. In the living room there is a double couch bed.
Getting Around
The apartment is across the street from Flinders Street station from where several trains to various suburbs depart. The tram (several lines) including free city tram is at your doorstep. Everything you need is within walking distance so there is no need for a car.

My friend and I stayed 2 nights in this lovely apartment. Everything we needed was there, everything we wanted to eat and drink was downstairs. Comfy beds and couches, very comfortable stay.
Lovely apt and good location but unfortunate location of key lock hox
Good apt overall but lock box in a nearby sketchy alley that requires getting down on your knees on the pavement with a vent blowing in ones face felt very uncomfortable and a bit unsafe. accessing. inface.
Very clean and tidy apartment. Amenities provided in the unit were great as we didn’t have to go and buy everything (dish liquid, paper towel, laundry, etc) just a few little things. Fabulous location with everything close by. Queen bed was uncomfortable but we used fold out. Unit exactly as advertised. Highly recommend!

Tram and train at the door and plenty of places to eat with a large variety of restaurants .
I had a problem opening the locked box as I have severe arthritis but the owener was very helpful.

Lovely, clean apartment smack dab in the heart of a hip area of Melbourne. Although busy with eateries down on the street the apartment was quiet and safe. Definitely as nice as advertised. We had a slight misunderstanding about how the apartment and building were numbered, probably based on a different system in the US, but it was cleared up quickly and we were able to enter easily after that.
We stayed a week at this laneway apartment and wished we could have stayed another week! It was simply the ideal location. We loved the high ceilings in this apartment. The decor was nice and inviting. It had a fine kitchen for making simple meals (and with so many restaurants around we found that we ate out more than expected). Access to shops and to transit was exceptional. Simply loved our stay.

Great stay here with wife and 2 teenagers. Property is clean, comfortable and convenient. May seem noisy if you’re not used to city life but not at all if you are. Highly recommend for a trip into the city of Melbourne.
We thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay. The apartment had all we needed, and the central location meant we did not need to worry about transport. Everything you need is at your doorstep.
I picked this for its location and it did not disappoint but was not a very comfortable place for 4 adults to stay for multiple nights (5). The owner could only provide one key which meant we had to use the combo lock box across the alley to leave the key in every time we came and went (as we were going in 4 separate directions every day). Whoever arrived first, then had to come down to let everyone in as they arrived. There are no dressers and the closets and drawers under the bed are so filled with stuff that it was difficult to unpack anything that was not on a hangar. The second bedroom is too small to leave suitcases out so they had to open and close them every time they wanted to get anything out. We found the beds to be very hard, especially the child mattress in the second guest room that has motorcycles on it. However, if your idea of comfort is a 4" Ikea Mattress on an Ikea platform bed, you will be very happy. It is very noisy in the evening and early in the morning but I used earplugs and it did not bother me. The kitchen is well-stocked with all you need to cook and it was lovely to have access to laundry in the flat.
My family and I loved our stay at this property. The proximity to transport and food outlets can not be beaten. The noise at night was fine once you got used to it. We want to come back to Melbourne and this would be our first choice.
The only negative we experienced was with the beds. The mattresses was too hard for our liking. The kids coped with the single beds but my wide and I struggled with the queen mattresses hardness. Perhaps having an extra soft topping mattress available could make that valuable difference for some people.
Otherwise great property to enjoy your adventures in Melbourne at.
The apartment was lovely and in a fantastic location. You do hear some street noise but that is part of staying in the city. We found the main bed extremely hard and uncomfortable but apart from that enjoyed our stay immensely
Loved staying here, and will definitely come back. Lovely apartment in an unbeatable location, with everything you need literally on your doorstep. It was also surprisingly quiet given the mayhem outside (though you do get the ubiquitous early morning garbage and delivery trucks, so bring earplugs for that). Hosts were really responsive, with clear instructions for checking in. Look forward to coming back.

Being right on Degraves Street was super convenient to shops, restaurants and transport. There was noise at night when trying to sleep (people talking and the occasional garbage truck), but it was expected. The apartment has lovely high ceilings and is clean and had everything we needed.
A fantastic central location above a buzzing laneway, offering a perfect base for a family of 5. Be prepared, however, for firm beds, early morning street noise and the temptation of so much good food at your doorstep. Good communication from the owners.
