Perfect central location for Jeeping!

This property is amazing. We LOVE the bunkhouses!! The main cabin is cute and cozy. A little small for more than 4 adults, but we enjoyed it. Close enough to shop if needed. Peaceful place to stay.

A Perfect Fall Weekend

I recently stayed at the Muddy Moose with a group of close friends, most of whom brought along young kiddos ranging from a month to eight years old. We could not have had a better weekend. Where to begin? The main cabin accommodations were perfect -- we had everything we needed to make a variety of group meals, enjoy morning coffee, and be comfortable even in such a rural setting. The staples in the pantry were the most well stocked of any rental I've ever stayed at. The cabin was very clean, well organized, and offered so much in such a cozy space. The picnic tables were perfect for lunches, dinners, and a place to hang out. Lawn games were an added bonus. The front deck of the cabin was made for watching the hundreds of beautiful birds that pass through and perch cheerily on the many bird feeders hanging from the surrounding trees. At night, it was pretty chilly and the propane fire pit kept us all warm as we wound down the day. We also used the Bunkhouses on the property and they were just as comfortable as the main cabin. Warm, cozy, clean, and so inviting -- extra blankets, a coffee station, and a very comfortable bed!The property itself is a beauty. An aspen grove for getting lost in is right in your front yard and the views of the valley are particularly magnificent at sunset. A cul-de-sac at the end of the road is great for kiddo bike rides or if you're feeling particularly ambitious a pick up game of wiffle ball. There's also plenty to explore nearby and endless possibilities for hiking in the area. But here's what's really special about the Muddy Moose and why you should stay here. All weekend I watched kids make core memories, whether it was roasting marshmallows and tasting their first s'more, smashing a pinata in the middle of the forest to celebrate a third birthday, building forts together, pretending their tent was a castle, chasing each other through trees, and playing hide and seek in between the bunkhouses. And I watched adult friends enjoy their kids' happiness and reconnect and remember all the things they love about being outside away from it all. Most of us, if we're lucky, have places like that. The kind of place you eventually look back on with a sweet fondness, that help shape you as a person, that inspire a love of nature and outdoors, where you formed friendships and felt joy, and that remind us long after we've grown up about the things we should hold onto and cherish. The Muddy Moose is that kind of place.

The weekend getaway we needed!

We couldn’t have asked for a better relaxing weekend getaway! The cabin and the property are beautiful, a perfect mix of rustic and comfort. We found the cabin well-stocked with amenities and well-maintained, and the decor is so cute! We definitely look forward to booking another stay at this cabin the next time the mountains are calling.

Adventure with Heart & Sole!

To be up in the Mountains surrounded by natural beauty is exactly what was needed for our family Get-A-Way! The Muddy Moose had everything we needed and it was fun to have private cabins where we could all hunker down for the night and come back together in the morning for our meals and good morning coffee in the main cabin. Oh those views! We went for a drive and took advantage of the gorgeous hiking trails near by ... we even came across a herd of elk in the fields! It was so cool to see them grazing in their natural habitat. As much as we loved hiking and exploring the property, I think what I loved the most was the simplicity of having those you love, sitting around a camp fire, laughing, playing board games, enjoying home cooked meals, listening & watching all the birds that came to visit and having the biggest heart warming smile, knowing that everything we needed was under one roof ~ sharing memories that will last forever. We had so much fun, we didn't want to come home. Peaceful & visually engaging. A perfect holiday. Can't wait to come back again soon! xo

Oasis of peace

I had a lovely time staying at the Muddy Moose! The cabin is in a great location, has beautiful views and enough space to wander. I couldn't have asked for a better place to relax and recharge! The hosts are very responsive, both in the setting up the space and responding to questions. I will certainly book again.

Excellent start to our holiday!

Location was a beautiful get away to the mountains! What a gem of a place to stay. The accommodations were great and fit our needs to accommodate multiple families giving us the privacy of separate lodging but ability to enjoy meals, hikes, outdoor fun and time together as well in the cute main cabin. The hosts were great to work with and easy to get a hold of when needed. Thanks for sharing this lovely place!

A weekend I will never forget

Where to begin? The Muddy Moose hosted the perfect opportunity for my partner and I to “disconnect to reconnect.” On our drive in, we saw all kinds of wildlife, including tons of elk and deer. When we arrived, we immediately noticed the hosts had gone above and beyond, from the cleanliness to the well-stocked kitchen to the complimentary candle. Since the cabin is pretty remote, we took advantage of everything it had to offer, including feeding the birds off the deck, playing scrabble around the fire, playing corn hole in the sunshine, and roasting s’mores around the fire pit. We also loved using the speakers the hosts provided and exploring the neighborhood - very unique. I truly could not think of more good ole fashioned, nostalgic fun - and the beautiful, peaceful mountain surroundings certainly don’t hurt!

The perfect escape

We had the best stay at this cabin with the perfect remote location. Check in was easy, the house had all the essentials and more for our stay. The place was perfect for our group and the beds were all very comfortable. There are extra comfy blankets galore and the little fireplace heated the whole place like a champ! Definitely a 5 star stay and would be the perfect place to get snowed in!

Cozy, quiet, beautiful cabin retreat!

My family and I had the best time at the Muddy Moose in mid September! It was all that we hoped for and more! We SO wish we had booked it for a few more days and that other family or friends could have came with us. There was plenty of space for everyone and the property was so fun to roam around and explore. The main cabin had all that we needed--cozy blankets, fireplace, basic kitchen essentials, board games, wifi, etc. The bunk houses were also so adorable but we didn't need to use them since it was just my husband, stepson and myself. The outdoor grill was definitely put to use, and my stepson loved making smores on the outdoor fire pit both nights as well! We brought our mountain bikes and enjoyed cruising up the road while watching a beautiful sunset. One day we drove 30 minutes and hiked the Colorado Trail, it was breathtaking! We also stopped in Fairplay for lunch on our way back. The mornings at the cabin were chilly but just perfect for putting on big hoodie and sipping coffee on the porch while watching the sun rise. I just can't say enough good things about this adorable "A frame" cabin, a true hidden gem. A peaceful retreat for our family. We will definitely be back! Thank you Kara and Randi, you all are amazing hosts!

Grab it while you can.

Stayed at this property for 3 days, Located near Como, CO this place is a gem for sure. Includes the 2 cabins as well as the main house this place was very suitable for our groups needs. The location is a little of the main road but very private and only 20min to Gas and food. Will need 4x4 drive during winter but we went in Aug and was fine with our Transit Van. Thank you for a wonderful place
