Less than 30 feet right to your own dock and waterfront for swimming, boating, fishing or water skiing. Or perhaps just sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery! The rental is equipped with 3 kayaks, 1 double kayak, 2 canoes and 2 paddle boards. The dock will hold up to a 21 foot boat. The dock has stairs to a shallow sandy swimming area (3 feet deep) great for younger children and older adults and the end of the dock is approximately 10 feet deep with a ladder.

Awesome views and exceptionally clean, warm lake. This cottage makes for great family memories!

For nature lovers, there are great trails to hike right out your front door. Crescent Lake is located in Acworth, NH right in the middle of quaint towns, including Sunapee, Claremont & Newport. This lake home is a true hidden gem & makes for magical memories with family and friends for years to come!

NOTE: The property requires stairs and may be difficult for guests with limited mobility. Also the cottage is at the end of a long dirt road so 4WD is suggested and 100% necessary off season (winter and spring).

Beautiful Lake Getaway

We had such an awesome time at Kari and Rod’s Lake house. It was everything we could have wanted to relax and enjoy time with our family. We canoed, paddle boarded, swam in the lake and even caught some fish! We read books, made s’mores at the fire pit, and enjoyed family dinners around their big table. We felt so at home. Their lake house is beautiful and so comfortable The bedrooms were perfect for our family and the couches were so comfy when we were ready to come in from full days of lake activities. It was so hard to leave on our last day and we can’t wait to go back!! Thanks Kari and Rod for being such great hosts!

A hidden gem!!

I don't even know where to start. What an absolutely amazing family vacation we had at this hidden Gem. First off, the owners are the best. Super friendly, accommodating, easily reachable, and incredibly helpful. We even had to reach out to Kari and Rod one evening when our 1yr old golden retriever got a fishhook stuck in her lip. Within a few minutes one of the neighbors was over with snippers to try and cut it free. Oh, and I can't forget to mention the welcome card and gifts. As far as the lake house itself... PERFECT for our family. We were out on/in the lake every day with the use of the kayaks, canoes, paddle boards, etc. The area is very quiet so nice spot to relax. The house has trees on both sides which makes it very private. I could go on and on about the comfort of the living/dining space, kitchen, utilities, etc,,, but I think you get the point. Was pretty sweet. The one bedroom that had a side bedroom attached was perfect for my son and daughters-in-law's young family. The other rooms worked perfectly for us as well. Couple of things to note ..Was a little tricky to find at first as the owners mentioned may happen but they give great details to limit that issue. It's about 20min from Newport which has whatever you forget to bring with you. Cell service is limited as you close in on Acworth/Unity but the wifi at the lake house is great. My daughter even worked remote one day doing conference calls. Rent it! Thanks for everything Kari and Rod. Hope to be back

Love lake life!

We couldn’t have asked for more!!! Everything we could’ve needed was provided and more. We loved our morning paddle board and kayak rides, the lake was absolutely beautiful and so peaceful. Kids loved the dock, fishing, and lounging on the oversized float. This was the perfect place to connect with family and friends and we cannot wait to go back!!!!

Lake Cottage

My husband and I spent a long weekend away with three other couples here. Wonderful place to stay and relax!!! This place really does have everything you need and more. On the owner’s recommendation we checked out a Speakeasy about 20 minutes away from the house which was also so much fun to visit. Overall such a wonderful experience for a weekend away

Perfect place to unwind for a week

Perfect place to unplug and unwind for a week. Served as a great home base for exploring NH and VT through day trips. Loved the availability of canoes and kayaks at the lake, and the size of the lake.

Beautiful Cottage

The Quintessential New England Lake Front Cottage is absolutely gorgeous. The house easily accommodated our group of 8 and truly felt like a home away from home, but with way better decor an a whole lake in the backyard!! There is so much to do at the cottage, inside and out, that kept our whole crew happy and entertained. As parents of screen kids who are always "board", having so may things to do without complaint is where the real vacation starts for us grown-ups!! 😁 Highly recommend staying here...we'll definitely be back!!

So relaxing!

This cottage had everything my family needed to enjoy a long weekend together on the lake. We had fun swimming, paddle boarding, eating/drinking, playing cards, and relaxing! Our dog swam her heart out. We were even able to catch a little music festival at the nearby South Acworth village store. It was incredible. We would have had a fire, but it rained…but even that was OK, as the rain was beautiful on the lake. We had everything we could need in the cabin and little charming towns nearby to grab what we forgot. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us!

Ducking’ Awesome!

We were delighted with our entire experience at the cottage. We enjoyed the days on the dock and utilized the kayak and canoe. At night we enjoy the fire by the lake. One afternoon it did rain and we took full advantage of the peaceful serenity in the cottage listening to rain in the most cozy chairs with coffee. The vibes, flowers, decor, and thoughtful instructions made our stay better than what we hoped for. Every detail of care was noticed. We hope to return again.

A wonderful place!

Sweet cottage, lovingly maintained, honoring its history- along with the lake. We loved the multiple, cozy seating areas conducive to connecting and conversations. We only stayed for a long weekend- and it was rainy and coolish, but we lacked for nothing. The cottage has a kind and calming vibe- thank you for sharing it with us.

Amazing getaway!

Duck Head cottage was just perfect for our family getaway! The cottage was super cute, cozy, clean and stocked with everything you could think of. Location is amazing, right on the Lake, beautiful and peaceful. Coffee on the dock in the morning was perfect. Canoes and Kayaks were used daily! Our two dogs were extremely happy, swimming, running on the dock and safely exploring the fenced in property! Lovely fire pit with plenty of smores roasted. The kitchen was perfect to enjoy making family meals and the outside griddle was a special treat! We hiked a few great spots in this beautiful remote area. Town of Claremont just a short drive for some great restaurants and easy grocery shopping. Cant say enough how comfortable and enjoyable our stay was! We will be back. Thank.you❤

Beautiful views in home w thoughtful touches

Great sitting/dining areas and kitchen - pretty open plan and all with views of the water. Good bedrooms (beds could always be better) but there are a hundred compliments we can give: great stocking of items you may need or want (even games and books), cleanliness, and room for your belongings - all was well organized without too much clutter. Hosts seemed kind and easy to communicate with with great book of ideas on what to do/where to go. We're so glad we had the chance to enjoy this beautiful property.

About the host

Hosted by Kari and Rod MacLeod

We are a family of 5 who loves being outdoors. We have fallen in love with Duck Head cottage and Crescent Lake. We enjoy our cottage getaway year round and love skiing at nearby Mount Sunapee. We also really enjoy renting our cottage to guests when we can't be there to enjoy it ourselves! We feel lucky to share this special place with others!

Why they chose this property

The cottage is cozy, quaint and steps away from lakeside fun. The property is directly on the lake and has everything you need for kayaking, canoeing, and swimming in Spring, Summer and Fall. In Winter you can drive to ski Mount Sunapee or Okemo, while being able to skate, snowshoe and cross country ski on the lake. We are just 25 minutes from Mount Sunapee and all that it has to offer for year round fun including their high ropes course and zip lines and the chairlift to the top to enjoy the foliage in the fall.

What makes this property unique

We have some of the best swimming on Crescent lake right from our dock.
