Good! Great for the Dingle area.

The house was clean and well organized. The two story layout of the house was great for us since we had two families with multiple generations. The separation of floors gave us privacy and kept us comfortable. We loved having the sheep next door. Our hostess was warm and easy-going. It felt like home.

Our stay at Cloghane

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time staying at this lovely cottage. Veronica was friendly and helpful. The property was clean and well equipped. The view out the front door is postcard worthy. Our only regret was not bringing more of our friends with us- this house can comfortably accommodate 6-8 people. Look forward to staying here again.

Beautiful Irish Countryside

An amazing remote little cottage but close enough to wander off on day trips to explore southern Ireland. The views and the stars... truly breathtaking. All the amenities you need and Veronica was very sweet and helpful. Would highly recommend if you're looking for a quiet and beautiful experience on the emerald isle.

Stunning location in a very spacious and comfortable home

We received a warm welcome from Veronica who took all precautions to ensure social distancing and adhere to covid19 precautions. The house is superbly located between Dingle and Tralee and the Conor pass is breathtaking. Lots of space and all the comforts imaginable. The neighbouring sheep were an added bonus. Highly recommend!

Dingle adventure

We rented this property for it's size and proximity to Dingle where my husband was running in the Dingle half marathon. Being first timers in Ireland, we had to get over the shock of driving on the left side of roads that are 2 feet wide! This was really an adventure on Connor pass where the cottage is located! The cottage had everything we needed including a cozy fireplace. The television had poor reception but I guess that made us read more! Veronica was very hospitable. She left us some of her award-winning scones and jam, which was a real treat! All in all, a grand adventure!

Great location

Quaint cottage near the Connor Pass. Beautiful views of the mountains and ocean. Easy access to Dingle, Slea Head Loop, and Ring of Kerry. We loved staying in this quiet location. There is a little hike to a lake nearby which was beautiful. Micheal and Veronica were so kind and had a fire laid so we could stay warm on cold nights.

Wonderful

The home was as advertised. Everything was clean, comfortable and well equipped. We were two couples and the layout afforded plenty of space and privacy. The owner, Veronica, met us upon arrival and was a pleasure to chat with. We cooked several meals at the home as well eating out at the friendly little pub(O’Connors) in the little town of Cloghane.

Fantastic vacation site

We stayed for 2 weeks at this wonderful cottage in what we thought was the most scenic part of Ireland. The views from the cottage are breath-taking and we enjoyed being on the northern side of the Dingle peninsula, which is less "touristy". Cloghane is a nifty little village a short 5-minute ride away where we ate dinner a couple of times at O'Connor's pub/restaurant; the food was delicious. (If you attend the local ceilidh in Cloghane, come prepared to sing a song!) We also had a great meal in nearby Stradbally (Tomasins); a little farther away, in Castlegregory, are several great restaurants we enjoyed and a Spar for grocery shopping. We also enjoyed renting bikes at Castlegregory, although I would be a little leery of biking on roads in other parts of Ireland. We needed every bit of our 2 weeks to savor the Dingle peninsula. We hiked twice behind the cottage through sheep pastures to one of many loughs (lakes), again out at Brandon Point, and along multiple beaches. Tralee (40 min drive) is the capital of Kerry (nice museum) and the rose capitol of Ireland; we enjoyed a Siamsa Tire performance of Irish song and dance there. In that direction also is Killarney National Park and the Muckross estate. Or, you can go south through the Conor Pass (an adventure all by itself) to the town of Dingle (touristy) and out along the Slea Head drive. We picnicked there, went to the Blasket Island Information Center and, on a different day, took the boat to Great Blasket Island, which was fascinating. Scorid Cottage itself is very comfortable and Veronica was very hospitable, greeting us with fresh scones and jam. We took one of the downstairs bedrooms (there are 2) with its own bath. We also used the tub in the upstairs bath, which has two additional bedrooms. The kitchen was well equipped. An Irish custom that requires some forethought is that electricity is expensive and oil and electricity is metered and charged at the end of the rental period (this was true for other rentals, as well). We were conservative in our usage and it only cost us about 15 euros per week; a large group who indulge themselves in lots of hot water or heat can expect a much higher tab. Overall, we had a wonderful time at Scorid Cottage and would highly recommend it. The cows and sheep right next door were a bonus. A regret is that we were too late in the year for the lambs.

Stunning views away from it all

Lovely and spacious cottage providing everything you need. We had a wonderful time there and would definitely love to come back one day. Perfect for larger families and also safe for children in the outside area. Really relaxing and comfortable for both parents and children. Nice contact to owner.

Comfy Cottage in a Gorgeous Location

Our family of 8 adults and 1 infant greatly enjoyed our 4-night stay at this cottage. We had plenty of space for our group, with large bedrooms and enough bathrooms plus living space and kitchen. All of it was well-equipped, clean, well-maintained, and comfortable. The setting is absolutely fabulous, with views out to the mountains and down to the ocean and fields of sheep all around. It's easy to explore the Dingle Peninsula from here, as well as Killarney National Park and other sites in southwest Ireland. The owner was friendly, accommodating, easy to work with, and overall just lovely, providing us with a few food items to get us started, including some delicious homemade scones with jam. I'd highly recommend the property and would love to return one day.

Family Vacation

My husband and I stayed at this lovely, well equipped cottage with took our four sons and daughter in law In July 2011. Our hosts Veronica and Mike were outstanding--warm, friendly and very personable. WE felt as if we had made new friends. Veronica made us some delicious scones, with which we were greeted upon our arrival. The property was just as described: clean and well maintained. The cottage has a beautiful view and Mike told us about the nearby waterfall to which we all hiked. The village of Cloghane is nearby and offers friendly pubs. Dingle town is over the breathtaking Conor Pass. For our family, it was a perfect spot from which to venture forth each day and to return to share our adventures in front of the fireplace while we cooked dinner in the well-appointed kitchen.

Perfect vacation!

We stayed here last September (with other reviewer) and agree with all her comments. The house was beautifully located. We had everything we needed inside the house. The owners were so accomodating-travel advice, shopping advice-even car repair advice! A wonderful area for sight seeing, hiking, relaxing. Highly recommended!

Beauty wherever you look!

We shared Scorid Cottage with two other couples and found it to be a perfect location for exploring the beautiful landscape of the Dingle Peninsula. There were mountain views from 3 sides of the house and a view of a long sandy beach from the front window. The accommodations were very nice. . . clean, comfortable and well maintained. The Maunsell Family was extremely friendly, helpful, yet unobtrusive. The scones (as mentioned in previous reviews) were delicious and much appreciated. The Maunsells introduced us to a warm and friendly pub in downtown Cloghane, called O'Connors, who served great food and drink. . . and right at the trail head of Mount Brandon. It became our daily watering hole! Our only suggestion is to arrive in daylight if possible because the roads in Ireland get very narrow, winding and dark at night when you don't know exactly where you are going. We highly recommend this lovely home.

Blissful Beauty!

Rolling fields and beautiful mountains – everything wonderful that I’ve ever heard about Ireland, I found in and around this lovely cottage! As soon as I pulled up I knew I made the right choice. The views from every direction are spectacular! And upon walking into the cottage, the lovely atmosphere continued with the tastefully appointed living area and spacious bedrooms. And what a nice touch to see Veronica had left some fresh homemade scones on the counter for us to enjoy. Speaking of the kitchen, it was furnished with everything we needed to whip up the tasty breakfasts and dinners we made from the very fresh food that we picked up locally. If the evening is chilly, you could certainly put the heat on but I’d be quick to recommend firing up some peat and wood in the fireplace and enjoy the warmth and glow. A short drive over ‘the hill’ to Dingle also offers an exciting panorama. And Dingle is a town in which my family & I thoroughly enjoyed. From the reasonably priced boat tour, to the sights, sounds as well as the tastes in the bars and restaurants. Also, while in the South West, don’t forget to go out of your way to strike up conversations with what must be the most friendly and interesting people in the world. I also highly recommend a drive around Sleigh Head, a drive around the peninsula as well as the short trips to Brandon Point and Tralee. The entire area is heavily steeped in history. There’s an abundance of ruins dating back to the Iron, Bronze & Neolithic periods. Thank you so very much Veronica and Michael for your hospitality, your lovely cottage and a great location to tour South West Ireland. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for my family’s experience of a lifetime.

Beautiful in Spring

We visited Kerry in May 2010 and stayed in Scorid Cottage. What a beautiful location right at the foot of Connor Pass with mountains all around and beautiful views of the sea. The house itself is bright and spacious and extremely well maintained by its friendly and helpful owners Veronica & Michael. It is located near to a picturesque mountain stream and in May the fields around Scorid Cottage were filled with newly born lambs playing happily. We found that it was the perfect location for touring West Kerry. It is only a thirty minutes drive from the larger town of Tralee and that was also a wonderful place to visit. We had a great holiday and we will always remember, the relaxing walks, the scenery, but especially all the new friends that we made.

very beauiful

this was the best accommodation in our irland history we ever had. Very nice and clean and recommendable with children. It is not necessary to walk outside to see the beautiful environment, just sit down on the couch and look through the windows. It´s better than every TV programm. One week in scorid cottage is more restful than four weeks mallorca etc. We will come back.

For a really relaxing break in a superb location

Stayed at this property with my family including 3 children. We had a super time. Received a lovely welcome with tea, coffee, milk, and freshly baked scones on arrival after our drive from Shannon airport. The house is as described on the advert and the owners couldn't be more helpful. The open log fire was set and we had a couple of cosy evenings by it just for the experience. The house is equipped with everything you would need. It is spacious, comfortable and clean and was ideal for our stay. The location is an ideal base for exploring the Dingle Peninsula. The views are spectacular with mountains and a waterfall to the rear, the Atlantic ocean to the front and Mount Brandon (Ireland's 2nd highest mountain) looming to the side. The children loved the freedom of roaming the field at the back of the house and were enthralled with the sheep grazing beside us.The nearby villages of Cloghane and Brandon and quaint fishing villages and we even tried our hand at some mackeral fishing from the Pier.Plenty of Irish music sessions in the local pubs and we really felt we lived the Irish experience. Fermoyle beach which is totally unspoilt and beautiful was a few minutes drive, so needless to say, we spent some quality time there when the weather permitted. Dingle town is approx 4.5km away over a most stunning Connor Pass road and from there you can take the Slea Head drive! Not to be missed! Plenty of quaint shops, restaurants & pubs. We also visited Killarney which is only a 50 minute drive. There was so much to see and do that we really needed another 2 weeks. I would definetly recommend Scorid Cottage to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation in the most beautiful setting and will be making a return visit for sure.

The home is very accurately described. The welcome from the family who own this property was very warm. Really appreciated the home made scones. The family live close by so they are available for any advice about the local attractions etc. The property is extremely clean and well maintained and very comfortable. The surrounding area is beautiful. The beach is close by which you will find very private and lovely. .
