Quirky, amazing place. Loveliest host and a beautiful location. We felt at home and could have stayed longer.

We stayed for a couple of nights. Quiet neighbourhood with friendly hosts and dog. We walked to Topanga state park so great to leave the car behind for a day (although a very short drive with lots of parking if preferred). Place was very clean and we liked the deck.

We were lucky to be able to spend an amazing month on holiday in LA, travelling from the UK. Deck House was the best base we could have hoped for. It was nice to be out of the city to relax, but close enough to get to all we wanted to see and do. The house had everything we needed to make it feel like home. The views from the deck are outstanding. Lisa was a great host, making herself available to help whenever asked. 100% recommendation from us!!’

Our family of three including our 7 month baby stayed for an entire month. The photos speak for themselves and accurately represent the property. As seasoned travelers, we found Isabelle, the owner, an exemplary hostess – an aspect of short-term rentals that cannot be overstated. The comments that follow are intended to supplement what others have already expressed: • The living room has a home theater system with an overhead projector and Bluetooth sound system. • The living room/dining room also has a working fireplace - wonderful during our winter stay. There is also a fire wood dealer in the nearby village. • The kitchen is as well provisioned as one could ever hope in a short-term rental – replete with extensive range of spices, pizza grill, food processor, pressure cooker etc. • The house is also well stocked with child-oriented materials and Isabelle kindly supplied us with a high chair and teething toys as well! • Given how it is situated with reference to the surrounding hills, the house and its gardens do not get abundant sunlight. • In the gardens (somewhat visible in one of the photos) there is a swinging garden bench which provided some delightful moments with our little one when trying to quiet her down for naps. • The house is situated on an active road and one must drive everywhere including hikes and basic provisions. Though surrounded by such a natural habitat, it is simply not workable to walk anywhere from the house. • The Topanga Public Library, a mile from the house, is modern and well maintained. They regularly held child classes. • Topanga State Park is also approximately 2 miles away which provides some lovely views of the Santa Monica Mountains and Pacific Ocean. • As clearly stated on the website, the house does not have a washer/dryer. This proved more challenging than we anticipated with a small child. The nearest laundromat is over 6 miles away and we were somewhat disappointed with how poorly their short wash cycles were in getting the job done. Fortunately Isabelle rescued us from time to time. • On the grounds, there is a separate studio apartment. We formed a close, hopefully enduring, friendship with the woman who happened to rent it during our stay. • The parking, also mentioned by one previous guest, works once one gets the hang of it. However it is challenging (near impossible) not to scrape the bottom of one's car.
