Perfect spontaneous ski trip

Great spot for ski trip base camp. Close to the mountain and all the necessities without breaking the bank. We had a great time over the weekend skiing with family, best of all our 3yo fell in love with skiing and wants to come back next year.

Lovely vistas and "just right" place to stay

For our second year staying at Mattie and David's place, we were happy to know what to expect. One of the first nights, we saw a barred owl up close (he swiveled his head all the way around, such a funny fellow) and managed a photo. We enjoyed the lovely vistas after a full day of skiing, and it was a treasure to be able to build a roaring fire to warm our frosty toes. This home has everything a family or extended family could want. It was clean and close to slopes (a shuttle stops right at the bottom of the driveway) though I will note it does have a long staircase to the front door (11 steps, then 12 steps, but there are hand rails all the way) and a stair to get to the upstairs bedroom. The beds are exceptionally soft and comfortable, a boon for sore muscles after a day of skiing. The kitchen has everything we needed to prepare all our meals. We enjoyed this place so much we're already planning our next visit. Don't miss out.

Good family-friendly and dog-friendly place

We liked the convenience to the village but also excellent views of the sunsets, etc. The place was comfortable but could use some updating (eg it’s hard to open the dishwasher since it’s installed too close to the stove). There were a ton of ladybugs everywhere when we stayed, assume that’s a winter issue. We also were dismayed to find out we shouldn’t have left any food (even sealed items like a loaf of bread) on the counters or table due to mice activity- we had to throw some things out. The owners were responsive when we contacted them about this issue, but we declined to have their pest control service come out during our stay. The kids liked the loft area upstairs. We ended up driving to the village during this trip, but have used the Westridge shuttle in the past.

Early New Year Ski Trip

A perfect place to go for a few days skiing with my husband and our two adult kids. Loved that the dogs could join us too.

This cabin was perfect!

The house was super clean and cozy. The kitchen had everything we needed. Easy access to the slopes with the free shuttle service. The owner quick to answer any questions. Highly recommend!

Spectacular Views and Comfortable Home

We enjoyed our stay here so immensely that we've already signed up for next year! This property has spectacular views, a nice wood-burning fireplace, well-appointed kitchen, dining and common areas all connected in an open floor plan. The bedrooms are cozy and the beds are super-comfortable. Very convenient location to the shuttle service. Please note: switchback getting up to park near the home, and steep staircase up to front door.

Ski Getaway

We had a great time staying at the ski lodge and to our amazement the snow was ok to ski on despite rain and warm temperatures. Very comfortable and warm house with amazing views. Very close to both snow shoe and silver creek. Would like to come again!

Wonderful as always!

Our stays at the cabin have always been a wonderful respite from Washington, DC. This one was no exception as we enjoyed the quiet and cool mountain temperatures, starry skies, hanging out on the deck, lots of down time to read, play family games, run on the ridge road, hike around Shaver Lake, etc. The cabin has a wonderfully cozy feel and is well appointed for cooking. The hosts are wonderful. We can't recommend this cabin enough!

Snowshoe mountain getaway

The view was beautiful as promised and it was very well equipped. Me, my husband, our dog Zoey, and a cousin and his wife made the trip. It was a wonderful birthday trip and plenty of room for four adults and our dog. Our hosts were readily available if any issues arose. I really appreciate them welcoming dogs into their home!

Mountain escape

This was our first visit to West Virginia and we had the BEST experience!! The chalet was beautiful and stocked with all the amenities!! The set up was perfect for our family and everything was so comfortable. You can’t beat the location...the proximity to Snowshoe Mtn was fantastic....it was super private with breathtaking views of the mountains (especially at sunset!) Communication with the owner was fantastic too! We highly recommend this chalet!!!

Great comfy home with amazing beds!

Trip with five adult longtime girlfriends. Had a seamless stay from securing the rental , while we were there and easy checkout. Open floor plan on main main with stunning views. Had plenty of firewood and fully stocked kitchen. Owners were readily available and responsive when we had some questions. Big table to play games, have family dinners and plenty of comfy seating in the living room area. Shuttle was fairly quick. Really likes the quiet, peaceful area yet close shuttle ride to all the happenings! Will stay again!

Very peaceful

We had 7 with us on our trip with plenty of space. The views were spectacular! The driveway was a little tricky with the sharp curves but with 4WD, it was manageable. Small dead mouse was found in the fireplace. We threw it out and didn't see any indications of others. I would recommend having some kindling available somewhere. It was freezing in the house when we arrived and struggled getting a fire going.

Disappointed rental

Cleaning of the place was terrible, kitchen was short on cookware,bathroom fixtures extremely old . I highly suggest that you use extreme caution prior to considering renting this cabin which is basically disappointing and not worth the money spent.

Motorcycle tour

Nice hideaway location. Unfortunately when we arrived, there was a nationally ranked motorcycle race going on. The roads were blocked so we had to wait a long time to get through. The house numbers were not easy to get, and there was a mixture of old and new numbers. Once in the house, things got better. There was a mouse in the kitchen that was our guest. There was only one hand towel in each bathroom for a three day stay for five people. Lots of discarded patio chairs under the patio, it could use a good clean up. Other than these points, we enjoyed our stay.

nice views

lovely views of the mountains, beds were comfy and water was nice and hot. Other than that house was a bit lack luster. it is an okay size for one couple or a family but quite cramped for multiple families. Several things (screen door, dishwasher door) are in need of updating/replacement. Several basics were missing - not enough toliet paper or paper towels, no handsoap in any rooms, no towels in kitchen, no detergent for laundry, etc. and just an FYI - the location is in a cell phone dead zone. There is a huge radiotelescope nearby so there is NO cell service in the entire area. You can get internet.

Dirty and run down

When we arrived we found rodent droppings in the kitchen on counters and on one of the upstairs beds. No beds had even been made up. We had to search for sheets and try to figure out sizes. There were stains on the sofas and food and a fork under the couch cushion. The bed pillows were very old and very stained. Something was living in the attic and could be heard at night. This property really needs cleaning and pest control. The only positive was the location.

Paradise found in West Virginia

With the early snowfall - thanks to Hurricaine Sandy, my husband and I decided it would be fun to get a glimpse of the Snowshow resort before the ski season. This beautiful chalet provided a great escape and most comfortable accomodations for our weekend get-away. Most spectacular are the views and the comfortable living room area and fireplace - a great place to curl up with a book or game with the family. Bedroom accomodations are cozy, well appointed, and with exceptionally comfortable mattresses. A great place to melt after a day of hiking, skiing or whatever you choose to do. We had a wonderful time hiking the back trails around the lake - with snow up to our knees. Most locals thought we were nuts but we loved every bit of it. We are coming back for Thanksgiving weekend - slopes will open early this year. Can hardly wait to come back and re-aquaint myself with skiing and other winter sports. We will definitely want to stay in this house as it met all of our needs and expectations for comfort, convenience, and seclusion. The owner is most accomodating and engaged with assuring that we had all that we needed. Also gave us some hints on area attractions. Really felt safe a secure with this relationship.

Not a place for the summer; close to Snowshoe

Please read the entire review. There is plenty good but I am starting with the bad. First: if you plan to go during h the summer, Do not Allow yourself to be misled by the owners that by the owners that Air conditioning is not needed. I truly feel I truly feel duped on this period period when I when I asked about the lack of air conditioning but the lack of air conditioning I was told that it wasn't new it's old that it wasn't needed it was cool enough in the mountains it was enough in the mountains it was 20ﾟ lower and it just wasn't lower and it just wasn't needed. Boy boy was that wrong! There was one small broken fan and that was it. A couple ceiling fans that helped but I literally sweated entire time while in the It was very disappointing that I was intentionally misled that it would be just fine. It was not I would never have stayed there had I known the true reality of staying there in the summer. If the owners were to put a full size fin in the living room and the bedrooms that would help but it needs air conditioning end of story. Except no other excuses. This was a huge damper on our vacation . Secondly, and this is a big one we booked our vacation well in advance that that home should have been cleaned. I felt that no 1 had been there for a while and that house was so dusty and it just felt like it had been touched for a while. It's like the cleaning people did the bear minimum where when you wipe off your TV console area You wipe off the 1st 2" but don't bother to reach back and wipe don't bother to reach back and wipe all the dust off the ceiling fans the ceiling fans had A ton of dust on them some I could not even turn on and the ones I had to turn on had dust flying through the air. It was just dusty. That furniture needs cleaned it was dirty the floors need Cleaned. You can tell the you can tell the cleaning company cut literal corners let's literal corners and cleaning half half the pillows didn't have pillow cases I had to search for that it says I had to search for them there were dirty ones in the there were dirty ones in the washer so I had to wash those post then try them to get try them to use them. They extra linen the extra linens and blankets were shoved in closets we're shoved in closets that fell out when I opened up the closets. I just feel that no care was taken by was taken by whoever overseas that property when the owners aren't dead pretty when the owners aren't there. The

Great value, great living space in front of the fireplace

We came for MLK weekend and loved the private shuttle to the main mountain. The house is high on the hill so have a 4WD and salt in your vehicle. The owner graciously had plenty at the house but it was a long walk up to retrieve it. The cabin was so cozy with the wood burning fireplace and 2 couches and plush chair. The beds were so comfortable and the washer drier was welcome after skiing in freezing rain. We even talked the bus driver into dropping us off at Cupp Run at the end of the road for rope drop. I’d definitely go again in a smaller SUV. Our large truck couldn’t make the turn but the SUVs had no trouble. Do NOT try in a front wheel drive vehicle in the winter.

Cozy home with a gorgeous view

We had an absolutely lovely stay in Snowshoe for some end-of-season skiing! The home was comfortable and cozy, and had everything we needed. The view from the deck was absolutely stunning, and the location between Snowshoe and Silver Creek was exactly what we needed, as we had a child taking adaptive ski lessons at Silver and another in lessons at Snowshoe. We drove to the resorts without any trouble finding parking, but the shuttle service runs right by the house and is easy and efficient to use. Thankfully we were made well aware of the steepness of the driveway, as we got a foot of snow, and 4-wheel drive was absolutely critical. The owners were incredibly thorough in communication regarding directions and check-in procedures, and quickly responsive with questions. This was our first trip to Snowshoe, and we already can’t wait to return!

All around a great place to stay

Very clean and put together on the inside. Outside you have a deck with an amazing view. Plenty of room to sleep, multiple TVs throughout the house. Very close to the mountain. Everything I could of asked for!
