great getaway

The house with all its little quirks a magical place to unwind. beautiful view spotless full amenities. would love to stay again for longer. even in winter.!! adult family of 10 with varied interests.

One of a kind charming house.

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was very clean. I was very happy with the location. I was more than satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: It’s almost impossible to find a house with enough actual bedrooms for 4 adult couples and a kid or two, so this house was a find. And it’s right on Chincoteague Bay on Main Street not too far from the bridge. But what we loved most is the personality of the house! Everything about the building itself and how it is decorated is lovely and comfortable for our big group. I can’t decide which feature is my favorite, but some of the best are: the view from the kitchen window, the kitchen itself, the window seat in the front room, the deck on the second floor, and the view from the attic suite! We love this house so much.

October 2022 Stay

We love this house so much! There is no other place we would consider staying in Chincoteague. Lavinder House is charming and filled with character. There are 5 bedrooms with comfortable beds, which is perfect for our family. This is the first time we brought grandchildren and they had adventures inside and out in the yard. The only disappointing thing was the missing & broken doorknobs — I hope they will be fixed and the house does not slide into disrepair. The cleaning crew does a good surface cleaning but we found lots of dust under furniture and all sorts of stuff under sofa cushions. But these issues did not change the fact that we love this house so much!

Great place to stay in Chincoteague

Lavinder House was a great place to stay. This charming Victorian home was quite comfortable for our family of 9 with mixed ages. The view of the bay from the multiple decks and large windows was beautiful, especially during the sunsets. It was an easy drive to Assateague Island and close to many of Chincoteague's amenities. The home is showing its age and has very steep staircases to the upper floors which contain 4 of the 5 bedrooms. But we enjoyed the quaint atmosphere.

Lavinder House

Rating Details: The property manager was very helpful. The vacation rental was clean. I was very happy with the location. I was satisfied with the condition of the vacation rental. Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The rental staff were great! The house is unique and charming. The rent for the week is higher than most because of the size of the property. I never leave unfavorable comments, however, the house was not clean - dirty microwave, cob webs on kitchen light fixtures, coffee grounds still in the coffee maker and sand in the carpets throughout the house. The property is in need of quite a few repairs and up keep. The 2 door knobs that came off last year are still broken this year. Water stains on the ceilings in multiple rooms, pocket door to the bath room on the second floor is stuck in the wall and the thermostats needed the batteries changed. The electric in the kitchen went off 3 times because of the refrigerator, stove, microwave and appliances all being on the same circuit. The microwave needed to be relocated as well as the coffee maker in order to mitigate the circuit tripping (The combination of the refrigerator, and microwave on at the same time over loaded the circuit). These things aside, we had a very enjoyable and relaxing week!note

Wonderful Sunsets

A vintage house with low ceilings, steep stairs and creaky floors however the views of the sunsets are the best. Also I feel the need to mention that multiple times loud footsteps were heard upstairs when no one was on the 2nd or 3rd floor.....

July 2021 Stay

A distinct and Vintage shore house, beautiful views and close to town. Narrow hall ways and doors does not allow for disabled persons especially wheel chair access. Multiple door knobs fell off as well as towel bars. Cob webs in the kitchen beams were missed but added to the character of the house. Sunsets were gorgeous but be prepared for the steep narrow stairs.

Vacation

We enjoyed the stay. One thing that a few family members was saying it would be nice to have a walkway out. Every other house had one besides this one. Also cleanliness could of been a little better. We found a easter egg with jelly beans in it I'm guessing from Easter. Also the back porch could of used a spray down on the screens.

November 2021 Stay

The Lavinder House had everything we needed for a relaxing, fun weekend in Chincoteague. The house is well equipped with kitchen items, furnishings etc. The rooms are comfortable, spacious and clean. Some of the bathrooms could use an upgrade (shower heads) but overall everything with perfectly fine. The views from the many outdoor spaces are incredible! The area is safe and biking/walking distance (20 minute walk) to shops, restaurants and morning coffee. The only thing we missed having was a fire pit to enjoy outside and more historical information about the house itself. I highly recommend this house for a getaway. We were 7 adults but a family would be very comfortable here as well.

Great view from a nice house

This is my second time working with this rental agency, and it all goes super smoothly. The house was clean and just as the pictures represented. The house is quirky in its layout. But the star of the show is the view of the bay. So tranquil and expansive. There’s a really nice second floor deck that is just a lovely place to see the water. Also, the kitchen is a charming rustic space with a large window opening out to the bay as well.

Chincoteague getaway

Our family really enjoyed our stay at the Lavinder House. Our son asked each day if we got to stay longer. They enjoyed going to see the ponies, the lighthouse, and searching for shells on what they called "Butterfly Beach." We enjoyed the old charm of the house and the breath taking views. Thank you for sharing your home.

Great place for a great experience!!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The location is absolutely amazing with a great view of the water - sunset is awesome. The place is packed with stuff so that you wont need to bring anything other than your clothes. They even have kayaks and kickboards. We had a great time in the place since it is very close to where the action is, but far enough to enjoy the peace and serenity. The roof in some of the rooms is lower so you have to be careful, and the handles/door knobs seem pretty old and fragile. A slightly more thorough cleaning may help too, not that the place was messy or dirty.Overall, the house was a perfect blend of old and modern and a great place to stay for your vacation.

Relaxing

The house is definitely vintage which makes it so unique. With that also comes some steep stairs, low ceilings in places and creeky floors. The kitchen can be a little tight but the screened in porch is where we spent most our time. The best thing about this house is the amazing views from all 3 levels. The second floor has a great roof top deck. The sunsets are beautiful. Overall we enjoyed our stay at the Lavinder house.

Superior location

The home has a lovely kitchen/screened in porch area for family meals. The space worked well for me, my two children and their families as each had their separate sleeping floor. The on location kayaks and canoe are an nice addition. We all agreed we would totally stay here again!

Beautiful place

Beautiful house with plenty of room and relaxation. Beautiful sunset views from decks. All correspondence with the renting agency was good. The only warning I will give you is the price given to you might not be your paying price. Our price changed multiple times making us pay almost one more night more than the booking price by the time we paid the final bill.

September 2020 Stay

We enjoyed our stay at the house! The views are amazing especially from the upper deck and bedrooms. Definitely a vintage house and with that comes some low ceilings and squeaky floors. The kitchen could use a little reorganizing with the silverware. House keeping left a few things untouched before we got there but overall we really enjoyed our stay.

September 2020 Stay

This was such a lovely getaway! I definitely enjoyed my stay and so glad I booked the property. The multiple decks were great for relaxing and water gazing, fully stocked kitchen (very helpful since dining options are limited in Chincoteague now, esp. outside safe dining). Note that many ceilings are low, which could be a problem for some (but my friend and I are both short). My only gripe is that there was no paper towels, coffee filters for machine or soap. Considering we’re in the midst of a pandemic, seems short-sighted not to provide soap—at least in the kitchen! But that’s a small thing, and I’d definitely return!

June 2020 Stay

We had a great time, the house was very beautiful. The sunset views were simply amazing!! The stairs are a bit steep, as with many vintage houses, so if you have problems with stairs be cautious.. The island was just entering stage 3 of the Covid lock downs, so many of the restaurants were limited in seating and menus so call ahead to make sure what is available and many of the shops had limited numbers of customers at once, if they were even open. Our only complaint of the house was the the 3rd floor ac unit was missing remote control, and we could not find any controls on the unit. Fortunately my son was able to find directions on line to pair one of the 2nd floor remotes to the the 3rd floor to get it turned on and set appropriately. We also did not receive the welcome bag from the rental agency when we checked in, we were told it would be delivered to the house when it came in later that week, but it never arrived.

August 2019 Stay

I enjoyed our stay. The views are great. My son spent a lot of time on the back top deck! A few of the remotes needed new batteries, but that was just a trip to the store. Yes there are some low doorways on the second floor... ask my head. But i eventually learned to duck! The remote to the extra a/c on the second floor bedroom did not seem to work( but that could just be user error)! I would stay in the Lavender home again. We enjoyed it!! Chincoteague was a great place to relax, see the horses, enjoy the beach which is a national park so kept very well!!! Enjoy it!!
