About this property
Maple Cottage - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Offering attractive, single-storey accommodation, this rural gem is the perfect base for exploring the delights of the area by car, on foot or by bicycle. Sitting in a pretty and peaceful part of central Dorset and close to the charming town of Sturminster Newton, Maple Cottage is located at the end of a long driveway, surrounded by glorious rolling countryside which is criss-crossed by numerous footpaths and bridleways.
The cottage decor combines interesting and antique furniture pieces with stylish fabrics and carefully chosen artwork, in order to create a restful space in which to relax and unwind. When you open the front door to your holiday cottage, you are greeted by the pretty triple-aspect sitting room with its feature fireplace with open fire. A circular dining table and hand-painted chairs provide the perfect spot for taking meals, or a space for playing a board game or two.
Step through to the galley-style kitchen with its open shelving adorned with blue china and you will find everything you need in order to prepare and cook a tasty treat. The two front-facing and comfortable bedrooms are thoughtfully dressed and furnished whilst also offering a king-size bedroom and a twin bedroom, making the cottage ideal for up to four guests and there is a well-appointed family bathroom with shower to complete the accommodation.
At the front of the cottage you can enjoy relaxing in the fully-enclosed garden, taking time to appreciate the beautiful landscape and serene rural atmosphere, whilst you plan your trips and adventures. The location is ideal for keen walkers or cyclists and numerous quaint villages can be found within easy reach, including Buckland Newton, Hazelbury Bryan and King's Stag. At Bulbarrow Hill nearby, you can wander along its peak through the ancient landscape that contains a 3000 year old tree, Bronze Age burial mounds and an Iron Age hillfort and breathtaking views to admire.
Further afield you will have the choice of visiting the county town of Dorchester with its museums, shops, cafes and restaurants, two cinemas and a Roman Townhouse, or perhaps visiting the world-famous Jurassic Coast. Bovington Tank Museum, Monkey World and Sculpture by the Lakes are just some of the numerous attractions in the wider area, making Maple Cottage ideally situated.
Additional Information:
