Great lityle cabin. Fit the 4 of us perfectly. Was a little cold until we built a fire, then it was just right! 1 mile away from grocery and and such. Would definitely recommend and stay again.
Perfect place for a quiet get away. Tucked away right on the river. The market is just a couple minutes drive for all of your necessities. And just a short drive to Mount Hood activities. The cabin is cute, cozy and clean. Keep warm with a fire. It also has electric heating if that’s more your style. We went in the winter so we didn’t sit in the back deck. But in the warmer months, sitting out there listening to the river would be amazing. The hosts were always very quick to respond to any questions I had. Definitely would recommend this place for your next stay.
The sound of the Sandy was my favorite part. The cabin was comfortable and functional. Some updates should be made for safety sake. (the deck for instance. ) . (deck door knofo(
We had a lovely 10 day stay at Lolo’s Sandy Hut. A very quiet, secluded setting-yet close to amenities and all the PNW outdoor activities you could want. The hosts were very responsive-not that we needed anything. We had fun playing the games that were stocked and enjoyed listening to the river from the deck. I would recommend this to anyone staying in the Rhododendron/Welches area.
Very nice cabin in a quiet area by the river behind it. Property was clean and well stocked as far as appliances and coffee maker. There was a very nice welcome basket waiting for us. We would stay here again and would recommend

Lovely cabin!
Enjoyed staying at this cabin for 2 nights. The cabin was clean, cozy and was right on Sandy river. It had amazing views! The owner was very easy to work with. We would absolutely stay here again and recommend it to others!
Our group of friends had a wonderful Thanksgiving here. Pictures don’t do it justice - the setting is peaceful with the stream super close by and providing a great backdrop while also drowning out any potential road noise. It also feels very private despite being near other homes. We all loved it and hope to go back sometime in the summer. Thanks for such a nice stay!
Very clean, comfortable, relaxing. As shown in photos.

Great spacious & secluded cabin on the river
This place was great! The kitchen was snug but open and there's plenty of room to stretch out. It's fairly secluded, right on the river, and it's pet friendly! Great wifi signal. The master bed was a little tough but the place is so cozy that I didn't mind. I love the giant couch! It's close to the mountain and very affordable.
I stayed here recently with my teen daughter. She wanted a cabin in the woods and this property exceeded our expectations. The listing photos don’t do it justice. We loved the outdoor areas and watching the river. The cabin was large and nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable and my daughter enjoyed the loft space. It was very clean and well stocked with little areas set up for coffee/tea, games and puzzles, a small library. We were only here 2 nights and didn’t get to fully enjoy all the amenities but we’d love to come back some time.
The manager of the property was very helpful with some issues that we had. We had little to no hot water for the first 3 days we were there. That made the experience unpleasant. However, the day after Christmas the property manager came out and turned up the hot water heater. So, the last full day we were there, we had hot showers. They refunded us some money for our trouble. I'll be honest, the beds were extremely uncomfortable to sleep on. The master bed just needs to be replaced entirely. The bunk beds upstairs can use some new mattress toppers to make them more comfortable. Other than that, the cabin had everything we needed to cook and relax in-between our ski trips. I think the manager should make some upgrades to the cabin (in particular, the beds) and then this would be a wonderful cabin to use during ski season! Once they get better beds, we will most likely book again! It was great for the price, and cheaper for the week than other places I looked at. The scenery was beautiful, and the sound of the creek was nice. Be careful crossing the foot bridge to the front door though when it is raining. It is very slippery!

Weekend Away with Teens
Rented this adorable little cabin for a family getaway over Labor Day weekend. It's a quick drive from the Portland area and the owner made it easy to find. The cabin was clean with all needed amenities, right on the river, with a great view and the teens loved playing on the rocks and taking tons of pics. Location is close to all the mountain stuff; we went hiking, explored Government Camp, went up to Timberline and just kicked around the area. Unfortunately, we weren't able to use the cool fire pit because of the fire ban. That was a disappointment cause the fire pit area is awesome. It rained all day Sunday, so we stayed indoors and played the provided board games (the ORIGINAL game of Life!) and card games (it has wifi, so we could look up card games to play). Honestly, the absence of TV was really nice. The kids (teens) LOVED the loft area. Spacious and comfortable with four twin beds and lots of room. The only reason this didn't get 5 stars is it would've been nice to have a queen in the downstairs room vs. pushing the twins together. Having two twins certainly gives more options, but we were slightly uncomfortable as a couple. Also, I didn't mark this cabin as good for "families with young children", but ages 5 and up would love it (to me, "young" is 1-3 yrs old). The terrain around the cabin is very woodsy and great for exploring, and kids who are old enough would love the loft upstairs. However, they would need to know to not go near the river unsupervised. In all, the cabin was cozy, comfortable, and the price was right; it was perfect for our little getaway.

Quaint cabin by the river
Our family of four was looking for a budget and dog-friendly cabin or home that would keep us in close proximity to Mount Hood. Lolo's Sandy Hut met those needs. It was tucked away just enough to feel a sense of separation from the town as well as the sights and sounds of the Sandy River made for a relaxing retreat. The cabin was plenty of room for our family and our small dog. Our two kids had their choice of beds in the bunk room and my husband and I had a private room to ourselves. We ended each night around the fire pit; roasting marshmallows and listening to the river. When we cooked any meals, the owner provided some utensils and cooking supplies in the small kitchen, so it helped. Also, we were able to indulge with our electronic devices with a great wifi signal! Extra blankets, comforters, towels--the essentials--were provided as well.
A few things to note: This is an older cabin. The first moments when we walked into the cabin, we unfortunately smelled a mustiness/?mold? to the place. If anyone has a sensitivity to smells, this might be an issue. Older cabins can come with smells and uneven floors. We noticed both. It looked as if some of the necessary rental-required cleaning was done on most areas of the cabin, but overlooked in other areas. {ie: left over English Muffins in the oven, unfolded clean sheets in the dryer, unswept bathroom floor, cobwebs.} These noted items did not diminish our stay, just caught us off-guard! There was a previous note from another renter about the hardness of the mattress in the master bedroom. We would have to agree with that as well. Also, there is no dishwasher, so be prepared to do dishes! {Which was fine with us.} :-)
Overall, this cabin had a quaint, been-in-the-family, "enjoy your stay" feel to it. It was accommodating to our needs and was a cozy place to come home to after being out on the mountain all day. The owner, Deborah, returned messages in a timely manner and left detailed and helpful instructions for our stay.

Wonderful, cozy cabin for all ages!
The Sandy Hut cabin was a perfect getaway for me and my two friends. We are all seniors and everything in the cabin was easily accessible and had all creature comforts. So cozy inside. The best feature was the river view and privacy even though other cabins were nearby. Lots of old growth trees, native flowers and plenty of space to explore. We all slept well and could hear the river from all rooms in the cabin. I would recommend this cute cabin for all ages. You won't be disappointed. The owner, Debbie, was very courteous and helpful. We will be back.

About the host
Hosted by Deborah Gaslin
We are oregon natives who love the mountain. We invite you to share our love of the outdoors and stay in our cabin to experience the natural beauty of Oregon's forests, lakes, rivers and, of course, Mt Hood! We have made our homey, but easily livable. Breathe, relax and have a great time.
Why they chose this property
We love our little cabin because it is on the Sandy River and has an awesome fire pit for gatherings, s'mores and ghost stories. The woods around are lush and green and you feel instantly relaxed the moment you step out onto the deck. The house sleeps 6-8 people with more room for little ones. We are pet and child friendly as we have those in our family as well. Whether the weather is good or stormy, our little cabin is a cozy oasis in the woods.
What makes this property unique
We are close to everything! Rivers, lakes, hiking trails, and Mt Hood! We are close to many great restaurants and venues. The Zig Zag bistro has $4 full breakfast if you get up early enough in the morning. Best milkshakes can be found at Zig Zag Resturant. Head up to Government camp and hang out at Charlies. Go night tubing at ski bowl. Have a hot chocolate or something stronger at the Silex Hut. Hike up to Clear Lake to be amazed. So many things to do!
