Beautiful house by the James River. Near Sundre, North Of Calgary.

Our resort includes a beautiful three bedroom vacation house and land that overlooks the James River. It is surrounded by trees in the Canadian wilderness. Enjoy a relaxing time in peace and quiet. Great for families. Escape the busy life while still in comfort.
Bookings are based on double occupancy with a maximum of 6 people. $35/person/night for extra guests. Pets are welcome with $65/pet/stay. Now with free WIFI !

The main house has all modern amenities with three bedrooms and 1.5 bathrooms. The whole house is booked for each reservation and not shared with other guests.

Guests have their own outdoor firepit. Firewood is available for purchase at booking or after check in.

The resort includes seasonally maintained paths to the river as well as other paths.

Stark Ranch Canada Resort is close to James River General Store, a convenience store (5 minute drive) as well as all services in the town of Sundre (15 minute drive) including a grocery store and the Sundre Golf Club. Burnstick lake is very popular and about 20 minutes away.

Check with your carrier for cell reception. Television not available. Please, no early check-ins. No smoking inside or outside. The wood stove is not available for use at this time.

Lovely Ranch House in the woods

Had a great experience enjoying an adorable space to share time with friends. We visited at the island table cooking dinner together and played games at the large dining table. The vaulted ceiling to the upper floor balcony highlighted all the sun the windows let in. It was -30C and we were warm and cosy. Hope to come back in warmer weather to enjoy the porch and creekside and also see what else a summer/fall stay offers!

Fabulous Family Weekend at Stark Ranch!

This clean, well cared for property was perfect for our family getaway. The main house was perfect for our party of 5 adults. The kitchen was great for meal preparation with all the necessary equipment. Cozy and comfortable! The trail on the property was a fun outdoor activity. Thanks for a great weekend!

Daniels’ James River cabin

Access to the James River was exactly what we were looking forward to. It was beautiful. Daniel was very accommodating to our dog and the property was perfect for bringing her for walks and wading in the river. The cabin provided everything we needed for our stay. We struggled slightly with the ants around the fire pit and the wasps around the deck but that is to be expected with such seclusion and untouched beauty. Thank you for everything Daniel.

Relaxing stay by the river

Our group of four had a wonderful stay here and there was plenty of room for all of us and my pup. There are games and books provided as well, since there is no wifi (a welcome respite actually). It just a short walk to the river and a quick drive into Sundre if you need gas or groceries. We would recommend this stay to anyone looking for a quiet and peaceful weekend away from the city.

Great getaway

Our stay was exactly what we needed. The home is as described. We stayed with 2 couples and 2 dogs. The place is clean and quiet set in nature. I would describe the furniture and decor as outdated but that didn't effect our enjoyment one bit. Daniel was a great host and the instructions for the place were clear and easy to follow. Will definitely stay again.

Beautiful secluded spot

We had a great springtime stay for a family golf trip. It's a short drive away from some top quality courses in Sudre. The house is well appointed, and in a beautiful secluded setting along James River. Thanks for the stay!

House on the woods by a river

Booking for a 5 day summer getaway. Perfect for us & 2 kids. Everything you need. River 60 yards away. Lots of forest & wilderness. Great fires & roasting marshmallows in the evening. House very nice & well equipped. Excellent communication with Daniel the owner. Lots to do nearby. Might book again in a future summer.

House was in a nice area but property was run down and unkept. No phone service or wifi. Just a bunch of little things like ran out of toilet paper the second day. Coffee maker was not clean and was plugged and didn’t work. Wouldn’t go back

Love this location!

This was our second time staying at the cabin, we just love the location. Perfect for spending time outside and has a great fireplace set up. There were some new options we really liked, such as firewood easily available. The cabin had everything we needed. Will definitely consider returning again.

Cabin by the river

The location is quiet and private and nice and close to the James River which is clean and great for rock skipping. Loved the firepit which was perfect for watching bats flying at dusk and stars later at night-we roasted many marshmallows!! The lawn area was nice and open for setting up our badminton net, playing bean bag toss and bocce. Lots of nice trails and we saw and doe and her fawn when hiking the property. BBQ worked great as did all the appliances. Really nice having an upstairs bathroom between the bedrooms.

A Relaxing Mini-vacation

It was a very relaxing place - no tv, no wifi. Did a lot of reading! The kitchen was well stocked with dishes, pots and pans, utensils etc. The stovetop is not great - hard to get the right temps. The pillows need to be replaced - not comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. We would certainly return. It’s a lovely, peaceful place!

Birthday relaxation!

Daniel made everything easy and organized for us and we had a great relaxing time celebrating my birthday. Despite the snow and the cold weather, we walked around and even spotted some wildlife. And kept cozy and warm inside the house.
