About this property

Oceanfront Home and Guest Cottage in Dominical, Costa Rica

Oceanfront rentals at Beach House Incognito. Located just 2 kms. South of Dominical, nestled between mountainous rainforest and tropical beach, right on the Ocean. Enter and exit your oceanfront hideaway through an electric security gate that ensures your privacy.

Choose from our large 2 story beach house that sleeps up to 6, with 2 bedrooms, the master with a California king bed and 2 twins, the 2nd bedroom has a queen bed. Each bedroom has a large on suite bath room. The beach house has a 2 car garage. Or our 1 bedroom guest cottage with a queen in the bedroom, and a double sleeper/sofa, that can accommodate up to 4. The sleeper/sofa works for 1 or 2 kids, or a single adult. This cottage will not accommodate 4 adults comfortably since there's only 1 bath, and you know, you're on vacation, so enjoy yourselves. Better yet, rent our entire place, giving you your very own private resort. Both beachfront house and guest cottage comes with every amenity you could desire to make your vacation a memorable one. Comfortable lounge chairs surround our large 18 by 36 pool for sun-worshippers, or if you prefer a shady spot, choose one of the numerous hammocks or rocking chairs for reading, relaxing, or a siesta.
Our beach front home is $300/night off season, and $340/night high season. The cottage is $150/night year round. With a 4 night minimum. Our property is a lush garden with numerous flowering plants, that attract tons of butterflies, and hummingbirds. Many types of birds pass through daily, in search of their breakfast of mangoes, papayas, and bananas, all growing on the property. Our local iguanas are constantly competing with the birds, for whatever fruit is available. A cup of coffee, a rocking chair, with the sites and sounds of the Pacific Ocean, playing in the back ground, is my idea of a perfect start to your morning. It just doesn't get any better than this.! Please help our maids! They work very hard keeping our place in top condition. We appreciate their hard work and we reward them by giving them Holidays off to spend with their families. In order to keep our prices low we request a 4 night minimum at our beach front home or our guest cottage. Thanks. Greg

Beautiful property!

We had a group of 9, ages 9-71y.It was a beautiful property for us. Located on the beach with a lovely pool. We were lucky enough to have the whole property, including the guest house. It was perfect for us. Love the iguanas that live there, got attached to them! You didn't really don't need to leave the property but do. Dominical is a wonderful little town. We miss it already. Waterfalls close by. Wildlife refuge close. The only thing that was a little annoying was the highway noise. We heard it more in the cottage than the big house, and when you're on the ocean side of the house, it was much less. Of course you just realize where you are... heaven!and guest

Great Vacation Rental!

I took my family (adult children/spouses) and friends on vacation. We rented the home and the guest cottage. The beach is gorgeous, close, and very private for CR. The home is clean and comfortable, the pool is very nice, and the owners were friendly. In my opinion the location and home are better than the pics on the website indicate. We had a great and memorable vacation and hope to return in the future.

Dominical Dream

Beach House Incognito was a wonderful place to spend a week. The house was clean and well kept. Being able to walk right out on to the beach(which felt private) then come back and jump in the large pool was perfect. Alex was perfect. There when you needed him and invisible when you didn't. His helper Baggs was a treat. Make sure you have Alex help with transportation to and from the airport and any excursions. Cant wait to come back and stay again.

Amazing house, fantastic hosts.

Loved this property.House is gorgeous, very clean and amazing ocean front view. Lyle was always there whenever we needed help, whether we needed advice on local activity or something needed to be fixed, he even made reservations for the restaurant for us. The only reason I gave 4/5 starts to location is that house is located right next to the main road and you can hear big tracks and motorcycles passing by, but comparing to the beach right in front of the house, gorgeous landscaping and amazing pool, little noise from the road is really not that important. We loved our stay so much, we booked it for the next year next day after we got home. Thank you Lyle and Greg for the great vacation.

House was better than the photos

We had 7 adults and 3 small kids stay in the main house and cottage. Amazing property! The house is much nicer than the photos suggest. The beach is basically a private beach. The pool is amazing. You are close to the highway with the odd retarder brakes but honestly the sounds of the ocean drowns out the sound for the most part so it never really bothered us. Bring some earplugs for sleeping and you would be fine. All in all a great property and we would stay there again in a heartbeat. Thanks Lyle and Gregory!

Outstanding!

This is a beautiful location and a great home for families with young children. We were there with daughter’s family. It was our third trip to CR from the states and their first. We were close to everything and the kids lived in the pool and on the beach. We were lucky enough to catch an algae bloom and see bioluminescence 3 nights in a row! My one piece of advice would be to make sure you rent the whole property. We had the cottage for half of the time and we enjoyed it more when it was just our family on site because we felt less worried about bothering anyone.

Perfection!

We stayed here for 5 nights and this house was fantastic! Communication with Greg was quick and easy before we even arrived. Rony, the surf legend, was the property manager at the time and he was just the absolute best! He taught the kids how to surf and recommended several local places to us, none of which disappointed. The house is even roomier than it appears in the pictures and the pool and view can't be beat. Gated entry gave that extra layer of security. If this property is on your 'maybe' list, just go ahead and book it. Thank you Greg and Rony for an amazing week in your beautiful home and country!

Outstanding Beach House!

This place was better than the pictures. Everything was very nice and clean. Alex was so very helpful and made the stay stress free. He arranged activities for us and made sure we had no problems. The location was convenient and an easy drive to many nice restaurants. My family and I can't wait to go back and stay here next year. I really made our stay in Costa Rica and was the highlight of our trip. If you are renting here, I would recommend letting Alex arrange your transportation and rental. Alamo at the airport was a disaster and a scam and I regret not taking Alex up on his offer to help with transportation prior to our arrival.

Great House on Quiet Beach

This was our second stay at Casa Incognito and it is one of the few houses that are located on the beach in this area. We love that we can instantly be at the beach as soon as we wake up. The pool is large and has comfortable chairs and there are plenty of places to sit in the shade around the property. The indoor furniture is a little dated but the beds are comfortable. The new bathroom downstairs with two shower heads is awesome though! The cottage on the property rents separately so if you're hoping to have it all to yourself, you will need to rent both. The caretaker is very helpful and was available when we needed his help and otherwise doing his own thing. We hope to be back there some day. Pura Vida!

Excellent stay - the pictures do not lie...

If anything, Beach House Incognito and its surroundings are even nicer than the very accurate photos on this site show. We just returned from a week there. This beach house is spectacular, and we had an awesome stay. Just steps from a beautiful, sparsely populated beach. Solitude and privacy if you are looking for it, but also close enough to towns (Dominical and Uvita) when you want more activity. Hated to leave. The caretaker / host, Alex, was great -- extremely accommodating and helpful, and always ready and available to provide recommendations, reservations, and assistance (and the occasional amusing story... ;-). It was quite a pleasure to have him around. Definitely hoping to return to Beach House Incognito next year (or sooner if possible...)! Some local recommendations (our opinions of course) -- Restaurante La Parcela about 1K toward Uvita, the fish market directly across the road from La Parcela, Dominical Surf Adventures for surfing, kayaking, snorkeling, horseback rides with either Aventuras de Selva Bonita (sunset / beach ride) or Don Lulo's Nuyaca Waterfall ride, Bar el Coco in Dominical. And if you don't have your own internet, there is a very comfortable place in the strip mall next to the bank in Uvita.

The property was absolutely gorgeous!

Our time at the house was amazing! The beach in front was beautiful and at low tide you could spend hours exploring the rocks and all the sea life that the water had left behind in little pools. Octopus, starfish, hermit crabs galore and even turtle eggs! The pool was used a lot more than I thought it would. Early morning swims were a great way to start the day. The pool was nice and warm and is maintained twice a week with very little chemicals no red eyes. Lots of pool toys too. The outside barbecue area was used often as well. There are horseshoes to play and a fire pit and a nice walking path to the water. The house stayed cool with just the fans, the beds were comfortable and the showers were hot. there was no detail missed when designing this house. The only problem was that we were all so happy and comfortable at the house, that we didn’t want to leave to tour. Lyle was there to greet us upon our arrival and he booked us a catamaran tour, a zip line tour and white water rafting tour with Rafiki Lodge. All top notch, professional companies. There are so many to choose from and we were pleased with his bookings. Lyle also suggested nearby waterfalls, and beaches. He was very informative and great to have around. Full of local knowledge. Little towns were very friendly and food markets have everything you could possibly want. There were 9 of us, 3 generations and we were all equally happy. We would love to come here again!

If you want beach, this house has beach

There were 10 of us who rented the main house and cottage for a week. It was everything we were hoping for and more. It is hard to imagine being closer to an absolutely wonderful beach while being surrounded by a rain forest and all sorts of creatures. We saw iguanas of all sizes on a daily basis, had squirrels cavorting in the trees and toucans flying overhead. Being surrounded by a rain forest one truly surprising thing, in a great way, was the lack of bothersome insects, though we did wake up to an amazing katydid on the table on porch. The house was outfitted with everything we needed for our stay. We did not cook much, but enjoyed using the grill one evening to cook fresh fish and lobster. Ask Lyle for direction to Johnny's seafood. Its on the main road through Dominical, but outside of the town in the opposite direction of the breach. Speaking of Lyle, he is a great asset to the house. If you want to know where to eat, he has recommendations. tours, the same. He is on the property much of the time and is more than happy to help. We loved the location of the house. Not just being on the beach, but Dominical is a five minute drive, Uvita is 20 minutes, Quepos, 25 minutes and Manuel Antonio is 30 minutes. We covered a lot of ground in our week stay, but barely did the area justice. The restaurants in Dominical are many and varied, but do not miss Por Qe No. We rented a car and drove down from San Jose. The drive is not difficult at about 3-1/2 hrs going down with some traffic and 3 hrs going back in the middle of the night. The only negative, and I considered it minor, is that the house is not as far from the road as it looks on the maps. There are occasionally large trucks that drive by and if they use their compression brake, it can be heard. The vast majority of the time all we heard were the wonderful waves and the critters. The house is a wonder! Many thanks to Greg and Lyle.

Too Many Issues

I was really disappointed in this rental. I'll start with the things that went right. Lyle (groundskeeper) helped arrange rental car and shuttle from airport. That all went very smoothly. It is right on the beach and the pool is great. I thought the home actually seemed bigger in person than in the pictures. Plenty of space to hang out and lounge. So why only two stars? Let me recap all the issues we had with the property. First, roof leaked rain onto one of the twin beds upstairs the first day we were there. The upstairs toilet never stopped running water. The downstairs shower was at first very slow to drain and then eventually backed up with sewer water all in the shower. On a different day the master toilet also backed up and flooded water all over the bathroom and parts of the bedroom. Issues with WiFi (although I find that to be typical) and had to have Lyle come get the t.v to work. Also the kitchen has a huge ant problem. We are fairly clean people but even the smallest crumb left out would cause a major ant invasion. Reminded me of camping. This wasn't a big deal but a pain none the less. There is also significant road noise starting around 5am each day. Lyle and the owner were very nice to try and repair all issues while we were there. However, we were only there for a week and having to deal with all these issues really was a drag on our vacation. I also did not like having the grounds keeper Lyle always about. I would prefer to have him not seen but available if needed. We felt like we were constantly being watched over. I also thought the fact that Lyle never wore a shirt was unprofessional and frankly just unpleasant. I would not stay here again and I can not recommend.

Beyond Expectations

Our three night stay at casa incognito was the highlight of our 16 day journey through costa rica. Alex, the concierge went above and beyond to make every aspect of our stay as convenient and fun as possible. He provided exceptional service before we arrived. Our flight to San Jose arrived very late in the evening. While planning our trip, We were searching for transportation from San Jose to Dominical on the night of our arrival. Needless to say, it was hard to find a service willing to start a 3 hour journey at 11:30pm. The cheapest driver I could find quoted us $350. I emailed Alex to ask if he knew of other options, and to my surprise, he called a friend who offered to make the drive for $150. The driver was waiting at the airport when we arrived with a sign showing my last name. It couldnt have been easier. Not only that, he stopped at a grocery store on the way and had coolers with ice packs prepared for us to store our food. We arrived in Dominical at 2:30am with all the food we needed, and alex stayed up to welcome us. The entire property was even more beautiful than we had imagined, the pictures online do not do it justice. The next day Alex stopped by and gave us very useful information about the area. He drove us to town that morning and gave us great recommendations for the best surf school, an affordable taxi service, and recommendations for where to eat. Our entire stay in Dominical went smoothly and flawlessly thanks to his helpfulness and knowledge of the area. When it was time for us to leave, he arranged a "monkey bus" service to take us to panama. It ended up being faster, more affordable, more comfortable, and much more convenient than standard Costa Rican bus services. The Monkey bus picked us up directly outside Casa Incognito on the morning of our departure, and Alex waited with us to make sure everything worked out. Needless to say, his expertise and willingness to help made our stay in Dominical absolutely perfect. Overall, the stunningly beautiful property combined with Alex's top notch service made Dominical the highlight of our vacation. On a scale from 1-10, id rate our stay at casa incognito an 11. Thanks for everything Alex and I apologize for taking so long to write a review. Pura vida! Ps: Alex's dog "baggs" is a pretty cool dude himself. -John & Alexa

The Perfect Spot!!

You could not ask for a better location. Private and quiet on a beautiful stretch of beach that you can have practically to yourself any time of day. Plus a nice large pool, a nicely landscaped yard, and all the ammenities you could want. It was great to meet Greg (the owner) and spend some time chatting with Alex and listening to his endless supply of travel stories. The location is a perfect spot for exploring Dominical, Uvita, San Isidro, and the surrounding area. There is no shortage of interesting places to eat (make sure to try Por Que No?, Jolly Roger's, Roadshack Deli, and Charter). Even better, get the fresh Tuna from the fresh fish "window" just down the street and grill up some BBQ yourselves. Great (and cheap) fresh fruit is available everywhere, including pineapples, cantelopes, and watermelons for $1 each, and big juicy mangoes for 60 cents. Explore the crazy dirt roads with your 4WD for some great views and maybe some wildlife sightings. We saw a troop of Howler Monkeys on an off-road excursion. Fun tours we did were the Hacienda Baru zip-lines, horseback riding to Nauyaca waterfalls (complete with insane cliff jumping for the thrill seekers), and whale/dolphin scouting with Bahia Adventuras (we saw dolphins!). The fruit and vegetable market (Thu) in San Isidro was also fun to see, as were the surfers at Playa Hermosa. The "guest house" was perfect for the two of us with a fully equiped kitchen, AC, and a great porch facing the ocean. We are already planning another two weeks at this hidden paradise. Some lessons learned from our first trip are as follows. Let Alex help you rent a car through a local company like Wild Rider. We rented through Alamo/National/Travelocity and got jerked around for HOURS over the quoted ins. rates and ended up paying more than Wild Rider's all-inclusive quote. Also let Alex book your excursions. He knows all the best providers and can sometimes get better rates. It was so helpful to have him around the property when we needed him. His "tour around town" was VERY useful, and we even saw White face monkeys at a great hill-top bar that we probably would have never found on our own. He'll show you where to find the bank, the pharmacy, the best grocery stores, and anything else you need to find, even which of the multitude of Ceviche stands to try (and you should try it!). If you go, say hi to Baggs for us...what a sweet dog :-) A true adventure and also a relaxing and educational vacation.

Vacation in paradise.

Wonderful place. It's our second time in Incognito beach house. Place looks like paradise. House is very clean and comfortable. Ocean is just 50 yards from the house and just amazing. Practically private beach. Coconut and banana palms on the property with fruits. Amazing flowers. Lyle was very helpful, we had everything we needed, even boogie boards for swimming.. Loved our vacation. Will be back for sure.

Excellent, comfortable, relaxing, and close to everything you need

We are a family of 5 with 3 little kids we stayed at Beachouse incognito for 10 days. The pictures don’t do justice: kitchen, master bath, upstairs area are much bigger than pictured. Grocery store and restaurants are few mins from the house. Lyle (care taker) made sure we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Even helped us arranging last min surf lessons and snorkel/Corcovado trips. We enjoyed the sunset everyday and walking on the beach during low tide spotted tropical fishes, sea urchin, crabs, star fish. Well worth it!

Location, location, location!!! top of the list

My family just spent three days and rented the entire property - having visited CR many times all over this is by far the best place to get the beach experience. Not many rentals will offer you beach front access but this one does and trust me you won't regret it. The place has all the amenities you need. Just free your beer and something to grill - everything else is there (even the ice). Pura Vida and we can't wait to go back.

I came exploring Costa Rica in 1989. My friends and current neighbors Richard and Diane, owners of Coconut Grove Cottages, ask me if I would consider buying land in Costa Rica. Soon we were owners of a 200 acre farm. We would come to this isolated beach, drink coconuts and learn from Amancio, whom the rocks out front are named after. Before you knew it we had a home, and soon cottages slowly came out of this Cacao field. Coconut Grove quickly became popular, with few vacancies. I wanted my own place, and soon we were no longer partners, just friends and neighbors. I built Beach House Incognito in 2008, and now can come and go, when my freedom allows it. We currently spend about 5-6 months a year here, with the other time spent at our home in Florida. Most folks in Florida, go north for the summer. We on the other hand head south, to our most incredible beach here in Dominicalito.
