About this property

Our cozy St. Helen's Cabin is great for families. Pet-friendly.

Adorable cabin sets on 6 acres with the Cowlitz River a short walk. The St. Helens Cabin at Cowlitz River Cabins Retreat is a 1036 square foot fully furnished, beautiful A-frame cabin representing the quintessential style of vacation homes. This A-frame is as affordable as it is adorable!

The cabin’s exterior is made of hand scribed logs and cedar siding presenting a rustic charm, making it the perfect woodsy getaway. The interior has a spacious feel due to the open floor plan and the 22-ft vaulted ceiling, which soars above the great room. The room is bathed in sunlight by large windows. Featured in the center of the great room, sits a gas stove, which burns with the natural look of real wood, and warms the entire first & second floors. The kitchen includes an island, which provides ample space for preparing meals and/or serves as an eating bar. A huge skylight brightens both the kitchen and dining areas.

The romantic bedroom/loft overlooks the living room and features beautiful mission style furniture. When your day is done, the queen size bed envelops your body. On the main floor, there are 2 built-in cozy bunker beds (2 queen mattresses) with curtains that draw closed for privacy.

Outside, a wide set of stairs that brings you up to the entrance features patios on each side. A private jetted hot tub sits on one side and on the other, a barbecue and picnic table to enjoy an outdoor meal.

Cowlitz River Cabin Retreat serves equally well as a weekend cabin, summer retreat, or a ski chalet. Outdoor enthusiasts will enjoy its proximity to White Pass Recreation area and Gifford Pinchot National Forest, which offers many year round recreational opportunities. If it's peace and tranquility that you’re seeking, you might curl up with a good book or take a stroll down to the river and sit and listen to the water!

This woodland site is shared with numerous wildlife creatures such as elk, deer, raccoons, and geese, to name a few. In the early morning and evening hours, frogs from a nearby pond will occasionally serenade you. If you look overhead, you will often spot a pair of eagles soaring high above, but sometimes you have to take a closer look as what your seeing may instead be hang-gliders who have leaped off nearby dog-mountain, soaring like eagles and are a real treat to watch!

Please note: there are two other cabins and our Tatoosh Tipi spread throughout the 6 acres. All of them having their own space but also there are common areas such as the play structure, garden, and paths to the river.

Nice cabin inside

We didn't realize we were above a garage, we got to listen to lawnmowers and a four wheeler all day on Saturday. Since this cabin is above the garage it wasn't peaceful on that day which peace is what we were needing. Beautiful location. The furniture isn't comfortable at all, wore out. Chickens are cute.

Perfect home base for White Pass

My friends and doggo were looking for a spot near White Pass for a girls ski trip. The St. Helens was the perfect place. Plenty of room for us and everything we needed. Plus the hot tub was just what our muscles needed after a day on the slopes. Danielle & Rob were great hosts and were available to answer all of our questions. We are already looking forward to next ski season and a stay at the cabin!

Quiet weekend getaway

Beautiful cabin in the woods. Had a great time and everything we needed. We were sad to have to leave before we finished our puzzle. It was a little hard to find in the dark the first time but google maps helps with that

Lovely little cabin

Very cozy! Had plenty of kitchenware so cooking was easy. Upstairs bed wasnt very comfy, but the two others downstairs were very comfortable. The grounds are great! Near the river. And the hot tub was great too. We plan on coming back and renting the bigger cabins

Family getaway

We had a great time. The location was spot on. The hot tub was fantastic. I wish I would have done better research before staying there with a toddler (the ladder to the loft was just so tempting and fun for a 2 year old!) The shower could use a redo or a new shower head, the pressure was great, but it points out at a weird angle and if you weren’t careful with the curtain you end up soaking the toilet. Overall, fantastic stay and would definitely book again!

Great cabin in the woods

This cabin was just what we were looking for to get away from the SoCal heat. Very comfortable and furnished with everything we needed. The walk to river even led us to a herd of elk one evening.

Heavenly Get-Away

We so loved our time in your woodland retreat. The directions were great and the cabin was wonderful and spacious. I loved looking out at the gardens and trees. It was a treat to wander the trail to find the Cowlitz River roll by. We watched Saturday night's storm roll in and enjoyed all the sights and sounds of the woods. I loved snacking on blackberries off the deck. Everything was organized for an easy stay. It was a fun surprise to find my sisters had rented the Mt. Adams cabin as well. I guess we all have great taste. : )

Great getaway

My wife and I stayed in the St. Helen’s cabin for our honeymoon and it was exactly what we were looking for. Peaceful, quiet and comfortable, with private river access and near many beautiful trails. The hosts maintained a good balance of being warm and welcoming without being intrusive. We appreciate them opening up their cabin to us and would love to stay again in the future. Thank you for the stay, and for giving us a call after you saw that we left something behind. That was very kind of you to reach out. Take care.

Great Cabin to get away from the City

This cabin is pretty secluded so make sure you pay attention to the written the directions and don't rely exclusively on navigation. The area is quite beautiful with looming mountains in the background and a clear river stream nearby. The area is also quite centrally located between Mt. St. Helens, Mt. Ranier, and Mt. Adams so it makes a great base for seeing all three. Unfortunately, some of the main areas of Mt. St. Helens were closed due to wash out so would recommend prioritizing the other two. The Cabin is much bigger inside than it looks with room to comfortably sleep at least 4 people. The rate was pretty affordable as well though I wasn't thrilled with all the added Vrbo fees. Overall this place is well worth the trip, pet friendly, and the hot tub was a nice bonus!

Peaceful stay

Great place to stay. A cautionary note to older travelers, the loft has a ladder for access. My wife and I choose to sleep downstairs to avoid any issues with climbing up and down several times a night. Anyone over 60 will understand. Just a pointer, the sign for the property is challenging to see at night.
